Gone

Nearly a week passed by quickly, but Denise had already become unbearably tired of the same old surrounding. Even though she still hadn’t set a foot outside the palace, she was very close to doing so. First, she was thinking of letting Trey visit his friend Josh for a bit then say hello to Alpha Stewart and his wife, and if possible, spend a few days in a hotel or cabin close to the woods. It was about time Trey got the chance to shift and run about. The problem was, however, would people recognize her? Many had already seen her face. Sighing, Denise got up from her chair and stretched her arms over her head, letting the tips of her fingers graze each other. “Trey, you didn’t eat much.” Her eyes darted to Trey who was sprawled across the bottom half of the bed, his phone in hand and his toy dinosaur underneath his tummy. “Would you like some fruits instead?” The question seemed to pass over Trey’s head for he didn’t glance up for a single second. Apparently, there was some weird g

Those Guys

Somehow, Denise managed to have missed Justin's scent until just a second ago. She hadn’t heard him either. When did he arrive?“J-Justin?”His eyes swept over her up and down before holding her gaze and cocking his head. He didn’t speak, he simply stayed put in the middle of the room, his arms crossed over his chest and his lips pressed into a thin line. His gaze wasn’t an intense one and frankly, his expression was just the same as always, but Denise could still feel herself slowly wanting to close up like a clam. Just like Jack, was he also disappointed in her? And back then, after almost dying because of her…perhaps, he had grown to resent her?As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she began to pick at her thumb while a sad smile blossomed at her lips. “I…Sorry. I’m sorry. I promise you that I won’t let anything like that happen again. I’ll make absolute sure. I promise…I swear it…”Justin’s gaze drifted down to her hands, “You haven’t gotten rid of that habit, have you?” He s

Protection

“Soon they will call for a meeting with the royals. The purpose is to have you disposed of.” Denise sucked in a breath, “D-Disposed of? Why would th---” “The Elders are pretty much a bunch of cowards.” Justin remarked. He pulled his chair closer to the bed, enough so he was seated in front of her. His fingers grazed hers, slipping between them in a tight, comforting hold. “Everyone knows the Queen’s family were the ones who launched the attack on the witches, but what most don’t know is that the elders were also very deep in the plan…in fact, it was their advice to begin with. With you here now, they fear that they will also perish with the royals if they allow you to live. Do you get what I’m saying? They're thinking you will bring destruction to everything they’ve built.” “So…” She swallowed as she drunk in everything that he’d said, “…you’re saying they’re colluding to kill me? But…But that’s ridiculous!” “Is it? Did they really say nothing back at the party?” Denise stiffene

Raina

Denise sat in the far corner of the room with her chin pressed to her knees and her arms secured around her legs. After leaving Trey with Jaxson, both her and Kain were locked in the same room that she had been confined in on her first day here. On this fullmoon, she had expected to be tossed down into the darkest depths of the dungeons, but it seemed that the Queen didn’t want to have to do that. That’s where Kain came in…to subdue her if anything happened. It was less than an hour before midnight and Kain had arrived not too long ago, yet despite having been completely locked in with her, he didn’t seem the least bit wary. His confidence in his ability to control her wolf was irritating. “Did the Queen force you to do this?” Denise grumbled, breaking the awkward silence. “Force? Not at all.” Kain crossed his legs on the chair he sat in. His expression had been impassive since he came. There were no taunts, no persistent chatting, nothing. Even now, she was the one who started th

Aftermath

Denise woke up at noon the next morning with memories of the night before nonexistent. She twisted on the bed and when the light breeze gently whisked over her bare skin, she jolted up. A wave of dizziness passed over her momentarily and she had to grip the sheets, squinting. But that didn’t stop her. Before anything else, she quickly threw off the duvet and looked over herself, her amber eyes widening at the sight of the bite marks littering across her thighs. A curse split through her lips. Why was she even surprised? She shouldn’t’ve known…that something like this would’ve happened. Was this his goal? Between her legs didn’t hurt, but just to be sure, she hesitantly dipped her finger down to check it herself. Her index poked the entrance, but got no further when a voice suddenly filled the room. “I didn’t do much…regretfully.” Kain said as he leaned off the wall and lowered his arms that were folded across his bare chest. She had been so frantic that she managed to not notice his

One Missing Royal

“Lift your head and straighten your back, sweetie.” Queen Agatha's arms slipped around Denise's waist as soon as they climbed out of the car. She turned her head to look at her daughter, a beaming smile on her lips. They had arrived in front of a humongous building with statues on either side of the double doors. It looked more like a creepy museum than a meeting place, and judging by the cracks spiraling across the grey walls, it was clearly old. Was it even safe?“I have a feeling that this meeting will be targeted at you.” The Queen continued. Denise knew that very well, but had to feign a bit of surprise anyway. “Me?” “Yes, but know this…I will not let them separate us. You belong in this family, so do not show fear.” She flinched. Did she seem scared? She couldn’t deny that when she was meeting with the very people who wanted her dead. Who wouldn’t be a little scared? “All of us are with you.” Denise glanced around her. Damian and Darrel had also arrived with their guards;

Excited

Somehow these Elders reminded Denise of the old her, the one which hated herself with every fiber of her being. “You fear what my wolf can do yet you threaten me like this?” She stood to her feet just as the Queen flopped back down on the bench. Her hands were clenched by her sides and her face was scrunched, but she unfurled her fists and relaxed her features. She wouldn’t let them see how much their words struck her. “I’ll have you know, Raina doesn’t like threats. If you’re trying to have her take control then by all means.” She stepped out from amongst the rows of benches and started down the empty aisle. The elders’ faces seemed to pale considerably at that. “What are you doing?!” Elder Serac lifted his shaking hand, bringing the wooden cross to his chest right over his heart. “What’s wrong?” Denise furrowed her brows and tilted her head, feigning confusion. “We’re having a conversation, are we not? Its rude to shout at me from all the way over there. I’ll come closer so you c

They Want To Meet You

Kain Valcor was probably the most unpredictable man one could meet. That was the reason most of his acquaintances walked on egg shells around him, no one wanted to get on bad side. Werewolves, Alphas and commoners alike either stay away from him or crush their pride and suck up to him…because they knew that it would take nothing for him to suddenly decide to rid them off the face of the earth. So, right this moment, even as hundreds of werewolves lie in wait around building, Kain could still kill every single Elder in the room in the blink of an eye and without caring for the consequences. Kain was someone they could not control nor manipulate, and that was what made him different from the rest of the royals, that was what made him dangerous. “Well then…” Kain sat on the bench at the very back of the room, beside Marcy who beamed at him. He didn’t spare her a glance as his arm slid around Trey’s waist, holding him on his thigh. “Lets continue.”Denise stared silently over at them. H

He Knows

Time seemed to pass by slowly as Jaxson sat in wait beside Denise's bed. They had already gone back to the royal residence and though her wolf had retreated long ago, she did not regain consciousness right away. But Jaxson stayed by her side, straight up until she finally stirred awake. Her toes curled and her forehead creased just as her eyes flickered open. She looked up at the ceiling, then turned her head, finding Jaxson next to her. “Jack…” She murmured, throwing the duvet down to her lower half and sitting up slowly. A wave of dizziness had her hand raising and clenching into her messy hair. Her head was throbbing. “What…happened? How long have I been asleep?” Jaxson curled his arm around her back, keeping her up. “Just a few hours. Raina didn’t hurt anyone, don’t worry.” The muscles in her jaw twitched. She had hoped that part was just a dream, but it unfortunately wasn’t. Was Kain’s purpose to help or sabotage her? Why would he do such a thing?“What was the verdict then?”

Father

When Denise and Jaxson got to the bottom floor, Kain was sitting on the couch, his head leaned over and his eyes on the ceiling. Trey stood next to him, his phone in one hand while the other gripped Damian's pants tightly. “Lets play again! I’ll win this time!”“Hey! What did I say about touching me?” With a frown, Damian's index pressed to the boy's forehead, pushing him back slightly. “Talk from a distance, you scrawny little sh—” He paused mid-sentence, glancing at Kain before sighing. “Just get off.” “Damian.” Kain raised his head, his emerald eyes digging into Damian’s back. “Don’t teach my kid such useless games. Its impressive that he can already shift, now he should be learning control. He doesn’t need a phone either, he’d be better off learning mind-link. Wouldn’t you agree, love?” His gaze darted towards Denise, a lopsided grin on his lips. “My flesh and blood should be amazing, after all.” “Its not useless.” Damian retorted. “See how determined he is? That’s brain progre
