Somehow, Denise managed to have missed Justin's scent until just a second ago. She hadn’t heard him either. When did he arrive?

“J-Justin?”

His eyes swept over her up and down before holding her gaze and cocking his head. He didn’t speak, he simply stayed put in the middle of the room, his arms crossed over his chest and his lips pressed into a thin line. His gaze wasn’t an intense one and frankly, his expression was just the same as always, but Denise could still feel herself slowly wanting to close up like a clam.

Just like Jack, was he also disappointed in her? And back then, after almost dying because of her…perhaps, he had grown to resent her?

As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she began to pick at her thumb while a sad smile blossomed at her lips. “I…Sorry. I’m sorry. I promise you that I won’t let anything like that happen again. I’ll make absolute sure. I promise…I swear it…”
