After my sister's wedding, Grace accompanied me to buy a pregnancy test. She and I went home. I went into the bathroom, closed the door, and sat on the toilet. I woke up to the smell of fried eggs and bacon. I got out of bed and went straight to the kitchen. There, like a dream, was Hayden, barefoot and cooking. He turned to look at me and smiled. This felt like nothing had happened between us; it was like at the beginning.
