Chapter 61 - They're home

Neil's POV At once, I found myself sitting opposite Amelia in the dining room, staring at a full plate of freshly cooked lasagna. "My favorite," I murmured under my breath, a smile escaping my lips unknowingly. "Did you just smile at food?" Amelia asked, a hidden laughter dancing in her voice. "Umm... hell no." "Don't mind him. Lasagna is his favorite. I took my time to make it especially for him this morning. He’s been away for so long, and I doubt he’s had a good meal since then." Okay, now she wanted to embarrass me. Narni was a whole bundle of sweetness. "I've been eating so well, Narni." My gaze rested on Amelia’s face, and we both understood the meaning behind that statement. I’d been eating so damn well that I felt full and refreshed just from perceiving her scent. But just as I said those words, Narni hit my head. I nearly jumped out of my seat, screaming, while Amelia burst into laughter. "I checked your regular spots: the supermarket, the restaurant, and not even the k

Chapter 63 - He marked me!

Amelia's POV None of my screams and struggles mattered as Lorenzo dragged me into his private jet. He tucked me into the seat and took his seat opposite me. Where was he taking me? My heart rate rapidly picked up as the reality dawned on me that we were leaving Chicago and probably the country. I clenched my teeth in anger. The sound of the engine whirred below me, putting more pressure on my mind as I struggled to dislodge the fact that I wouldn’t get to see Neil anymore. Lorenzo sat leg-crossed opposite me, sipping gently from the glass in his hand. A female flight attendant appeared with a tray and bent to drop it before Lorenzo. “Fuck off,” he snapped, scaring her away. She gasped and scurried out of sight, leaving Lorenzo and me in this... Lorenzo's private jet. Even though Lorenzo was sitting directly opposite me, I was no longer afraid of what he could do. He was only a piece of cake for Neil; with a flick of Neil's fingers, he would be gone. Suddenly, I heard Neil's voice i

Chapter 62 - Under threat

Neil's POV If I can't trust my household, who then could I trust? Narni had been my source of comfort each time I felt alone, without a mate whom she called my "wife." The only thing that separated us from being mother and child was the fact that she didn’t birth me. Most of my neighbors already saw her as my mother. Now it felt as if those warm memories were shattering, all because of her voice. She was betraying me, selling me off to Lorenzo. She was causing me pain. Heira surfaced temporarily in anger, snarling at the frightened Amelia. But he didn’t mind. Amelia gasped and moved away from me, aware of the intimidating presence of my alpha wolf. 'What are you still doing here? Do you want me to handle this myself?' Heira growled. Instantly, I shot out of my seat and headed toward Narni's room. "Where are you going?" Amelia asked as she trudged behind me, but I didn’t want her to see this. I didn’t want her to count Narni as evil for selling us out. I still wanted her to see Na

Chapter 64 - Alpha in distress

Neil's POV: I had mind-linked Amelia after discovering that Lorenzo did not take her to his house. I didn't know where or how to start looking for them, as there was no trace of them anywhere. Amelia had told me that Lorenzo was probably taking her out of the country, and I feared that would happen because the mind-link couldn't extend outside the borders of America. It wouldn’t connect. I was scared of losing all chances of connecting to Amelia, which was why I had to act fast. My pilot was on his annual holiday, and I had to let him enjoy it. With that, I had no option but to use a public plane while trying to connect to Amelia. I rented a car from a local shop and drove downhill to the nearest airport to book a flight, mind-linking Amelia again to see if she had discovered where Lorenzo was taking her. 'Amelia', I tried to connect, but all I heard was silence. What if she had finally left America and the mind-link had stopped working? I sped up, clenching my jaws. I tried again

Chapter 65 - The MMA

Amelia Lorenzo pulled me forward by the arm as I struggled behind him, but it was like trying to stop a moving truck; his grip was too strong. He pushed me into a waiting car and stepped in beside me as the car pulled away. All my mind was on Neil and when he would come for me. I didn't know how to connect to him through the mind-link, and I should have learned this a long time ago. Lorenzo turned to me, his eyes darker and his face painted with smiles. "I’m imagining how much you’d make for me. I guess you’re good at this." I ignored him and bit my lower lip instead. The car pulled in front of a building, and we stepped out. "Bring her in," Lorenzo commanded as he took the lead. Instantly, two of his men pulled me by the arms and led me forward. This time, I quietly followed them. We walked into a room filled with different lights and powerful music wafting from the stereo at the other end. I realized the room was a casino, with men gambling and drinking themselves into stupor in

Chapter 66 - The bat

Neil's POV Boarding a ship to Europe did not take long. I entered the ship under a disguise to avoid what had happened before. Going to Europe by ship would take long, but that was the only option I had left. I took a sip of the wine and twirled the rest as I sat on the bed in the room I had been placed in on the ship. My mind returned to Amelia and what had become of her now. My heart shuddered, and I noticed a lump in my throat as I prayed she was safe. "Talk to her," Heira growled. I had to try the mind-link again. But as I listened for Amelia's reply, I heard her painful gasps and whines... Someone was hurting her! I could feel her pain. She had been hit by someone. My breath rose as my throat went dry. I didn't know what to do anymore. I brushed a furious hand over my hair as my eyes angrily scanned the room. I kicked the wine glass and the bottle into the wall, and the contents spilled alongside the glass all over the room. A question screamed into my head: would I be able

Chapter 67 - Stabber

Neil's POV It will take roughly two weeks to get to Europe, and the thought of it sent my heart flying. What if I lost all chances of rescuing Amelia before the end of the two weeks? Yet, I didn't see any other option for getting to Europe. The whole of America wanted me, and I couldn't bring myself to face them, not when I wasn’t yet sure of the safety of my mate. I was in a difficult position, but I would find a way to navigate it all. I pushed a few buttons on the control desk when I suddenly heard someone's voice above the ship and the whirring sounds of engines. My wolf perked up with interest as I looked above me, though I couldn't see what was happening outside the ship from there. "Come out now at the count of one... two... three..." I rushed outside, careful not to give away my position. The voice sounded so familiar, but I couldn't place where I had heard it before. At first, my skin was hit by the chilling night air, and next, the headlights from the plane circling the s

Chapter 68 - A cold set-up

Amelia's POV Lorenzo has become a demon of himself. All day long, he had me locked up in this room without food or water. Last night had been a nightmare... tears rushed down my face as I remembered that lady's words as she hit me squarely in the face. "The capo brought you here as a slut and a cheap slut is what you'll be here!" She had been too strong and fast for me, almost impossible for me to pluck a strand of her hair as she hit me; like she had been made and trained for this. Lorenzo had appeared, dragged her by the hair, and pushed her aside. "I didn't ask you to touch her. She still remains my wife." When I thought he was finally going to get me out of here, Lorenzo had tied me up and dumped me here in this room. "Your mate might take too long to come to your rescue; coming by boat to Europe. Ridiculous," Lorenzo spat. "I would have had a fill of myself on you before he arrives," Lorenzo said in derision as he pulled my face up to look at him. "I'll keep you here. Safe. A

Chapter 69 - Blue blood!

Amelia's POV Neil wouldn't listen. I began to fidget in fear as I tried in vain to make Neil look at me at least, but he was too focused on his opponent in the ring. His opponent was the first to attack. He leaped on Neil like a frog, but Neil casually avoided him, weighing his reflexes and fight skills. He leapt again, but Neil slammed his fists into his face, which forcefully threw him backwards and out of the ring. It wasn't about fame but strength. Neil's opponent was famous amongst most of the crowd, but Neil was stronger. The crowd screamed in shock as Neil's opponent crashed onto the floor outside the stage. For the first time, I felt at ease. It might not be as bad as I thought. Neil might navigate Lorenzo's traps, and we'd get out of there soon. Neil's opponent rose from the floor, a drop of blood on his lip. He sprinted back into the ring. Neil paced around the ring, waiting for his opponent to make his comeback. The crowd cheered again as Neil's opponent threw himself

Chapter 70 - Silver!

Neil's POV He was much stronger than I thought. And though I had decided not to use any of my wolf abilities in the arena, I was forced to because he was almost unbeatable. I was shocked when his wounds healed and claws formed on his fingers. He was a werewolf too... and a powerful one at that! How many werewolves did Lorenzo have working for him? And how did he get such a powerful werewolf in his fight club? But what I never expected was Lorenzo going back on his word... As I slit Blue blood's throat, I narrowly missed a bullet as it whizzed past my head. I tumbled down the stage to take cover as more bullets pierced the air. Suddenly, everything seemed to slow down before me and I could clearly see the bullets rushing above me and on the stage. It was no ordinary bullet. It was made of raw silver. Lorenzo! That bastard! I should have known he wouldn't keep to his word. I told you it was a bad idea, Heira grumbled into my head, but this was not a time for grumbling. I turned
