31. I protect what's mine

Long after Emma confessed, Jamie remained silent. To make matters worse for her, his expression remained completely unreadable, increasing her inner turmoil. After everything that had happened today, he was the only person Emma was fearful of losing. In its own twisted way, he managed to carve a space in her heart that nobody had filled before, and the mere thought of it becoming empty again frightened her. He needed to be on her side.  But as things seemed to her, they weren’t working in her favor. Jamie refused to meet her eyes, and with every passing seconds, her hope shattered. Tears filled her eyes as she saw how even he refused to believe her truth, after she had mustered up the courage to tell him everything about her past.  Wiping a stubborn tear that fell on her cheek, she mumbled, “You don’t beli

32. I'll make it up to you

Before Emma realized it, she was hoisted up in the air and pulled onto his thighs. Now circling her limbs around his hips, she let him run his palm along the small of her back, pulling her even closer. The edge of her robe pooled above her thighs, and left her completely bare down there. As the cold rush of air hit her, she squirmed above him, and he took the sign to move his attention downward, all the while refusing to part with her lips.  Emma gasped, momentarily letting go of his lips, as Jamie raked a hand over the skin of her knees, going all the way upwards. As she waited with alarm, his fingers skipped grazing her sensitive area between her legs, where she felt a throbbing like never before, and instead headed up to her waist, pulling at the sash of her robe. As the fabric came undone, Emma felt it loosen from around her shoulder, threatening to slip away from her body.

33. Work your magic

A week passed until she got to see Jamie again. Since he left rather abruptly that night, Emma didn’t have the chance to discuss so many important things with him. She didn’t expect him to disappear right after that night, and if he hadn’t assured her that he had to take care of something very important, she would have assumed he was ignoring her yet again. Moreover, Tom had also assured her that he was not trying to escape from her this time.    “He has to take care of something important, nothing you should worry about.” He said over the rim of his coffee. They were seated by the counter in the kitchen where Tom had served her breakfast. Thank god for his cooking skills, she thought as she bit into the sandwich he made her.    “Well, as long as he’s not ignoring me, I’m cool.”

34. Come home to you

Emma was shuffling through her clothes in her room when she heard the bolt unlock in the living room. She eyed the clock on the wall in puzzlement, as she knew Tom would not be arriving so soon. The first thought that entered her mind then was that if her uncle had managed to break into her house, having found out that she was seeking shelter there. But upon second thought, she realized that was highly unlikely, and her racing heart calmed down.    That could only mean one other thing.    With eager steps, she headed out of her room to find Jamie standing by the door. However, instead of rejoicing upon the sight of him, her heart clenched in shock as she found the state of him. Leaning back onto the door frame, his fingers struggled to lock the door. As he finally succeeded, his blood-soaked hands fell limp by his side, the

35. I can't wait

“How do you mean to do that?” She asked, looking into his eyes.    “Well, it’s going to be a long ride.” he said, his other hand snaking around her waist. “But for now, I mean to do this.”    As the words left his mouth, his lips descended on hers.   Emma let out a gasp as she felt herself being pushed back against the headboard, her trembling hands hardly managing to sustain her. She hooked her arms around him to gain some support, and he took the chance to pull her down and rest her on the mattress instead. Once her head hit the pillow, he threw his limbs on either side of her, momentarily breaking away from each other.    “Before I go ahead,” He breathed out, eyes full of lust. “I need your consent

36. What her words couldn't

“Ah!’ She screamed as her vagina tightened around his digit, stretching her painfully.    “It’s okay, I’m only trying to prepare you.” He said, giving the side of her knee a soft kiss in consolation. ”You ought to get used to this before you can take me in.”    Emma clasped her eyes shut as his finger moved within her. Grasping the duvet with her fingers, she cried in delight. Soon enough, she felt him introduce another finger, but it hurt less this time around. The pain of his intrusion was slowly being replaced by the pleasure, making her crave for more.    “Yes.” She whispered, “Right there.”    Having found the perfect rhythm of his motion, he resolutely pumped in and out of her. As Emma chas

37. Belong

Thoroughly spent, Emma fell back on the mattress. Beside her, Jamie was recuperating, breathing heavily. A warm smile touched her face as she watched him, and the sudden urge to cuddle with him emerged within her. So that’s what she did.    As she moved closer to him, sensing her presence, his arm quickly came around her shoulder. Resting her head against the bump of shoulder, she sighed. She realized only then that it was the first time in the recent past that she felt so at peace. Nothing was on her mind, not her parents, her uncle and aunt or the threat to her life. Just spending a few hours with him transported her into a space she struggled to fit in before, one where she was content.    She hadn’t realized when the thought made her smile.    “What are yo

38. A wolf hunter

After yet another intense session, Jamie finally allowed her to take some rest. Cocooned in his arms, Emma forgot when she’d fallen asleep, but she suspected it was shortly after she closed her eyes. When she next awoke, she found the spot beside her empty and cold. As she ran her palm on the sheets, she realized that it must have been quite a while since Jamie left. But where was he?  “Why are you up?” His voice came, startling her. “Go back to sleep.”  As Emma’s eyes flickered towards him, she noticed a small lamp showering orange light upon his desk. His back was facing her as he spoke, and from over his shoulder, she could sense him ruffling through some papers.  “Why are

39. In the future

Emma was at a loss of words as she heard him.  A wolf hunter? What the hell was that supposed to mean?  She watched his face for any signs of remorse or guilt, but she found none. She didn’t know what was worse, knowing that her mate was essentially a serial killer or that she was supposed to love him in spite of it.  “What do you mean you’re a wolf hunter?” She said, “Who do you kill?”  “Rogues.” He said, “Our brotherhood is committed to wiping out all the rogues on the earth. They are werewolves that have betrayed their own packs and formed a union that works against us. Unlike us, they want to attack humans and refuse to share our livelihoo

40. Unaware

The next morning, it was Jamie that awoke first. After spending the last night taking some well needed rest, his body finally felt alive enough to go about with his daily tasks. As he brewed some coffee for himself in the kitchen, he pondered over the important things he had to get done today.  It was good that his mission in this city was coming to an end, but there was still one more person they had to take down before he could finally finish it. But that was the tricky part, this person seemed nowhere to be found. Jamie and Tom had been working on tracking him for weeks now only to be met with a deadend with every turn they took.  The toughest part about his job was undoubtedly tracking the rogues, for they tend to live underground. However, given their sources and all the extra information they get from their first vict
