RICK'S POV I sat by the bedside, watching as Anna slept. The soft rise and fall of her chest, the way her hair fell across her face, even in sleep, she was damn beautiful. But beneath the sweet slumber, I knew she was in pain. The bruise on her arm wasn't as small as it seemed. I wonder how humans endure such pain. I felt a pang of guilt for not being able to protect her from harm. If only I was able to sense it earlier, this wouldn't have happened. But I was weak, slow to sense the danger ahead of me. Unable to tear my eyes away from her, I found myself unable to sleep or carry out my usual daily routines. All I wanted to do was stay by her side, to watch over her and ensure her safety.
