26~ Watched Her Cry

DENVER'S POV

Something made me leave the bed to the window. I just had to follow my instincts and do what it said. Reaching the window, I stared down, watching as the guards petroled around the pack house. Staring ahead, I could see the beauty of nature at its peak.

Then my eyes caught a figure seated in the garden. A familiar one at that. I noticed she wasn't just sitting and feeling the cold air, she was shivering, more like she was crying.

But why?

She wiped her eyes, then again after a few seconds. Her mouth was moving, but she got caught up as she choked. So I listened, to know what she was saying and why she was crying.

"What have I not done for you? Why do I have to be the one to face this? After four years—after four good years, all you had to do was turn me down just for her?” She again wiped her eyes, sniffling. “What has she done for you that I haven't?”
