Chapter Ninety One

Gwen. Ryan left before we woke up and I got to know that because he left a note on the kitchen island. “Good morning baby.” I greeted her as I walked into her room. She was squirming and ready to get up from her bed. “Good morning Mommy,” she yawned and stretched her arms. “What do you want for breakfast?”“Pancakes and strawberry jam.” She squealed. “Alright. Come freshen up and we will get our breakfast ready in no time.” I helped her out of bed and got her ready for today's preschool. Jasmine was excited while eating and I wish to always see her this happy.“Time to go,” we left the house so we could get to her school early since my apartment was too far from her school. …..“Are you going to pick me up, mommy?” She asked as I helped her out of the car. “I will and we will also get some ice cream.” Her eyes lit up as I said that. “Bye baby,” I waved at her. “Bye, Mommy!” I stayed there and only left when she entered her school building with her teacher. I have just one

Chapter Ninety Two

Gwen.I did the first thing Ryan said, call the police and I did just so. I gave them my address and in about twenty minutes they were here taking my statement they also tried making Jason talk more but the boy would not say anything so they let him be. “We will get in touch with you soon enough Miss Mars, but in the meantime, would you be kind to let him stay with you…” “Of course. That’s no problem at all, he can stay as long as he wants, but please help me find his family.” I begged. “We will do our best miss Mars,” I almost rolled my eyes at the name. Can’t they call me Gwen or Gwendolyn instead of Miss Mars?“Alright, good night.” They nodded and left my apartment. I closed the door and went to the living room where Jas and Jace were having a cartoon marathon. “Are you alright Mommy?” Jasmine asked as I slumped beside her on the couch. “I’m fine baby, just exhausted.” “Here,” her hand grabbed some popcorn and placed it before my mouth. I gladly open my mouth and let her

Chapter Ninety Three

Gwen. I was lucky to wake up early the next morning even though I still felt like a walking zombie. I walked groggily to the living room and almost screamed when I saw a tiny figure lying on the floor. My eyes went to the time and saw it was just past six so what was he doing here this early? And on the floor?I went closer to him and patted his cheek to wake him up but discovered something strange. His face was cold and his breath was coming out slowly and was almost non noticeable.‘What’s wrong with him?’ Panic rushes through me as I think of the worst. He was fine hours ago so what could have gone wrong all of a sudden? “Jace,” I called softly tapping on his cheek. He did not shake, nor did he answer my call. “Jace, what wrong boy?” I asked worriedly tapping his face again and again. I picked him up from the floor and took him the the nearest couch, he still didn’t make any noise. I watched in horror and lost on what to do, what should I do. I have no idea, I do not know

Chapter Ninety Four

Gwen. What the hell is wrong with him?He thinks I can give birth to a child and abandon him somewhere like I am such a selfish bitch or what. “You aren’t serious right?” I asked him with a duh look. He wasn’t seriously asking me this. Didn’t he think of his question properly before asking it? Julian's face didn’t change as he assessed me, “You tell me Gwen because I won’t sit still if you tell me this is your child you had outside your marriage but you were too ashamed to tell your husband, and now when you are both divorced you think it’s the right time to bring him back.” Gosh, how did he come up with such an explanation? “You don’t mean that right?” I giggled. He shrugged. “This boy isn’t my child doc Julian,” he stared at me skeptically. “I’m telling the truth Julian, Jason is not my son. I found him yesterday running around the place when I went to pick Jasmine up and….” He interrupted me. “And so you decide to keep him? Did you think of the implications this would caus

Chapter Ninety Five

Henry. The morning was quite busy after that talk with mother left and I still haven’t seen her until now and that isn’t my business either. I tried not to think of what she suggested, I did but I could not help but think what she was suggesting was a good idea—for someone who is power hungry of course—but luckily that person wasn’t me. I am satisfied with what I had and wouldn’t get Gwen back because she wants me to, I am done being her toy she could control every single day. It’s time for her to know that I can’t do anything to help her with her bizarre claims.Emily has been Emily this morning, she has been moving up and down since morning and I can’t help but get dizzy with how quickly she was going about. She was looking pale and tired this morning and that did not disturb her at all. I heard the curse she let out as she threw up and when I went to comfort her and maybe help her hold her hair just as I do with Gwen she pushed me out, and told me not to come inside and see he

Chapter Ninety Six

Henry. For the whole of the day, Emily did not talk to me nor even stare eye to eye with me and not that I minded anyway, I actually had some time to myself for quite some time. I went to my study to get some office work done, it has been long and I have really neglected my work. So to make use of the morning I stayed in my study since I did not have the energy to go to the company today. I was able to get some work done with the little time I was in here, but that quietness didn’t last long enough for me. Emily barged into my office. At least now she was looking better than this morning when she looked like she saw a ghost or rather she was the ghost. “I have a problem, Henry,” she started and took the seat opposite mine. What has happened this time?“What’s wrong?” I asked, trying to act as concerned as I could. “I have no idea what to choose. This designer I contacted has some really great designs and now I’m having a hard time choosing the one I want. They are beautiful but

Chapter Ninety Seven

Gwen. It was three days after Jason got sick and during that period I made sure I was with him at all times, making sure he had whatever he needed. And at the same time I had to get Jasmine ready for her preschool—at times get Ryan to take her there—or I did and let Ryan stay here. I also have online classes I attended, but overall it has been wonderful. I was in the kitchen preparing breakfast for Jasmine and Jason when I heard the bedroom door open and little Jason came out. He was looking healthier than the last time when I saw him and brought him home. His color was no longer pale and that made me happy. He held the Superman toy I got for him as he made his way to the kitchen. “Good morning Jace, how was your night?” I asked with a smile on my face. “Good morning aunt. My night was fine,” he replied and stopped when he got to the kitchen island. Of course, I knew what he wanted me to do since this has been our routine for the past three days now. I stopped what I was doing a

Chapter Ninety Eight

Gwen. I was busy the whole of today, I had a very important class that I could not miss. A meeting with father later in the afternoon, a meeting with Henry so we could discuss how Jas can be with both of us. Finally, after dragging my ass back for a few days I decided to give him an audience because I thought it was overdue and he hasn’t seen his daughter since that morning. Ryan called earlier regarding information on Jason and I was happy to know the police had found a clue about his parents and they were trying to get in contact with them. When he said it would be hard, I thought his family must be far far away or even too poor not to own a phone but I guess I was wrong. I wasn’t certain yet but I was sure Jason wasn’t an ordinary boy, he must be from some kind of powerful family. But I wasn’t sure yet, I will know more when his parents have been contacted. I had dropped Jas and Jason off at the preschool—the teacher was kind enough to accept Jason for some time even though he

Gwen. He should have thought of the consequences of his actions while he was doing them. I had no bad mind for him or wanted to take his daughter from him either. He should accept this and stop complaining. “Look Gwen, I know that you are mad at me for doing what I did but please think this through. You can’t do this,” he said. “I did Henry and that’s what you are seeing in that paper. I spent sleepless nights thinking about what I could do to help you, and what I can do to bring you closer to our daughter instead of pushing you away. And I came up with that; I think you should agree with me on this. Two days with Jasmine is enough for you,” I explained. “It isn’t! What am I supposed to do with her in just two days?” He asked. I looked at him ridiculously, putting my hands on my lap, and shrugged. “You can do anything you want with her in those two days, I won’t interfere Henry, and besides why are you complaining when you have your mistress by your side? Emily is there to keep

Chapter One Hundred

Henry. I see the moment she shuts down her emotions, the moment she decides not to feel or hear anything I say. Gwen thinks I know nothing about her, she thinks I have no idea about what type of person she is. She’s wrong, I have lived with her for years while we were married and I know the kind of person she was; she was kind, soft-hearted, and sweet and though she had those amazing qualities I still didn’t see us belonging together. Even though I did not stay in the house with her much while we were still married, I knew a few important things about her. Yet, what I noticed right now was that she had stopped herself from feeling anything when I was around. She put on the mask like she didn’t care if anything did happen to me but deep down I know she did care. The Gwen sitting before me now was a totally different Gwen from the one I knew before. “You do not mean that Gwen,” I said staring at her with disbelief. I couldn’t bring myself to sign this even if I knew this was a good
