Heidi followed Lucas out of the kitchen, grumbling some incoherent words. Inside the living room, she sat on the couch and he sat beside her. Heidi shifted away, and Lucas shifted close to her. “What do you want?” “What was the ultrasound result?” His eyes lit up, seemingly eager and excited to know the answer. “Are we having a girl?” “No!” His excitement toned down a bit, his smile decreasing. “Well, is it a boy?” “No!” A big frown formed on his forehead at her answer. Lucas threw her a helpless look. “I had to hurry to the company, sorry I couldn't accompany you.” “Is the company more important than my baby?” “You mean our baby,” Lucas corrected her. “Of course not. But I had to.” Heidi remained silent, counting imaginary lines on the floor. “It won't happen again, I promise.” She didn't reply, but her stiff body loosened up.
