293. Their Doom

The Next Morning…

Heidi walked into the study room to find him deeply engrossed in work.

“What are you doing, Lucas? Have you forgotten we have somewhere to go?” She tried to sound as nice as possible, fighting the urge to scream at him.

Lucas closed his laptop. “Are you ready?”

“I have been ready for over an hour now.” Heidi glanced at her wristwatch. “You're not gonna go back on your promise, are you?”

“I won't. But I need to work on this. Just give me a few minutes.”

Heidi puffed up her cheeks, frustration filled her heart.

She sat on the couch and folded her hands across her chest, facing him.

“There's something I want you to do,” he said after a while. “Can you help me speak with your assistant?”

“Huh?”

Lucas left his chair and approached her with his phone. “I'd like you to connect me with her.”

“For what?” Heidi glanced from him to the phone.

Lucas hesitated before speaking. “It's about business.”
