Lena's POV. The next day, I leave the house pretty early just as the sun rises, the kids are still fast asleep in my bed, they all crawled in there last night and I can never turn them away. I give them kisses on their heads before I leave but none of them stir. I already told Zoey last night that I would be leaving early so she knows. I step out of the house and take a deep breath, the view is amazing. The sun is like a ball of fire rising out of the trees, the birds are chirping and the air is fresh. This is one thing that you can't get in the city and now that I'm here after all these years, I have to admit that I've missed it. If the lab wasn't so far from the house, I would take advantage of this beautiful day and walk but I can't do that. Alpha Leo's POV. After Lena left the room, I knew she said she would come and tell me what she found out but for some reason, I couldn't seat still. The disease or whatever it is isn't showing up in their blood, their blood is clear. Back at the lab I thought maybe it was because we stored it overnight that's why I came here to get another sample but it’s still the same thing. After I calm down I pull myself away from Leo and start building up my walls immediately, whatever moment just happened between us now, it can never happen again. “We should head back, the sooner I start analysing the samples I took, the better.” I tell him and he has this worried and confused look on his face. “Are you sure? You don't have to do that now, you can go back home and start up tomorrow.” He tells me. “I'm fine Leo, trust me. If I go home all I'll be able to think about are the samples that I need to analyse waiting for me back at the lab. So it's better if I just go to the lab.” I explain to him and for a moment it looks like he wants to complain but he let's out a sigh and decides against it. “Ok then, let's head back to the lab.” He tells me and I walk over to the passenger side of the car and get in. Lena's POV. I've been in the lab for hours now, staring at the results on the screen, like maybe the longer I stare at it the more it will make more sense to me, but it isn't working. Frustrated, I get up from my chair and take off my mask and gloves. “Arggghhhhhh!” I scream. I've never been so stumped and frustrated in my life before. “This can't be right. I mean the elements and the arrangements, they're all wrong.” Emmett says more to himself as he stares at the screen. “I've never seen anything like this before and it's the same thing with Brie's labs, the tests are also inconclusive. What exactly is this disease?” I asked myself and as I continued staring at the screen a light bulb went off in my head, it finally clicked. “That's it.” I say as I let out a sigh of relief. “What is it?” Emmett asked, looking very confused. “We've been treating this disease luke any normal disease but that's where we were wrong, it's not like any other

Lena's POV. As I drive back to the lab, my mind whirls back to when I got the letter from Leo, asking for my help and also when I decided to help him. Maybe I should've listened to Zoey, I should've said no and by now I would be back at home with my kids, none the wiser about what was going on here. But no, my bleeding heart had to go and say yes and now not only do I have to find a cure, I also have to go with Leo to New Orleans of all places to convince his witch friend to help us and then there's also the part where all this is a directed attack, which means that none of us here in the pack are safe. “Yea, I should've said no.” I whisper to myself as I stop the car and get out of it. I take a deep breath and steady myself before I go back into the lab. There's no point thinking of what if’s, I'm here now and the sooner I find a cure, the sooner I can get out of here and back to my life.
