Chapter 31 - Only Choice

Carrie POV I was shaking to my core. The fact that I had done something that now jeopardized my happiness was terrifying. How could I have been so dumb as to sign whatever was put in front of me? I remember that moment. It is embedded in my mind. Being told to sign the wedding documents by the lawyer who was present. Adam standing over me nudging me when tears overcame me. And the smile on his face once the papers were signed. I should have known there should not have been so many documents to sign. But at the time and the threat that was being held over my life, would I have been able to refuse? I did not think so. I knew my fate had been determined that day, but I did not realize just how much had been decided. “What about your father, Carrie? Don’t you wonder what will happen to him now that his debt is not paid?” Adam smirks at me as Carleton stands between us and Adam. “Do you think I care about a man who sold me off to someone like

Chapter 32 - It's Not Good

Jackson POV I did not want to admit to Carrie that I was worried about the Wolf Council and proving what her wolf said to be true. It would be her word against Adam’s and Adam played dirty. Clearly. They would not force her to return to her mate but there could be repercussions that I did not want to consider. Repercussions that would take her away from me in one form or another. I gave myself a shake and put on a smile as Carrie moved in my arms. It would soon be time to head downstairs for supper. Now that she had accepted to stay with the Pack it was time to introduce her to everyone formally. Carrie stretches like a little feline in my arms rubbing her naked body against mine. I feel myself harden as she rubs her hot pussy against my leg. I can tell, even in her sleep, she is ready for me. She slowly opens her eyes and looks up at me. She has a dusting of pink on her cheeks which makes her even sexier. “Hello,” she whispers as I lean d

Chapter 33 - Meeting the Luna

Carrie POV The nerves I felt were going to blow me apart. Jackson had given me a watered-down version of his discussion with Carleton. Not that he admitted that to me. I simply gathered from his tone on the phone to what he was like when he spoke to me, he was trying to ease my worry. His actions amplified it. Walking into the dining hall was causing me some anxiety as well. Everyone was staring at us. Some were smiling. Some were glaring looks from what I would assume to be women who had their sights on Jackson before I arrived. And others were neither consumed with us one way or the other. Jackson helps me to my chair to the right of him and takes his seat at the head of our table. Looking around I could see some were still looking at us curiously. Jackson takes my hand and squeezes it giving me more comfort than he would ever realize. I smile at him and nod that I am ready. Clearing his throat Jackson stands and draws everyo

Chapter 34 - Catching Up

Carrie POV As Jackson and Christian were finishing their meal movement out the corner of my eye caught my attention. I look over and to my surprise I see Jessica, Mandy and Josh entering the dining hall. I wave to them; they smile and wave back but move to a table away from us even though there were spots at our table for them to sit. “The warriors have their own tables, Carrie,” Jackson says to me explaining why they did not come over. “Oh,” I reply feeling a little hurt and lost that I could not sit and talk to my friends. I sat there for a moment and stood up, as Jackson and Christian both stood uncertain what I was doing. “I am going to see my friends,” I say to them both. Jackson looks like he wants to argue, but I see Christian is mind-linking someone. Before I know it, Jackson nods, “Come get me when you are ready to leave,” he says as I move away from him. I walk towards the table catching the confused looks some of the Pack members we

Chapter 35 - Don't Cut Me Out

Carrie POV “What?” I ask her wiping the tears from my face. Jessica looks between Mandy, and I before moving to stand and pace in the room. “What do you mean?” Mandy asks as Jessica turns to look at the both of us. “I need to leave. I cannot stay here,” she replies. “But why not?” Mandy asks getting upset. “My mate never rejected me,” she says in a rush. We both look at her stunned with what she just said. “How?” I ask but Mandy cuts me off, “Why?”. “Suffice it to say he was going to reject me, but I left before he could,” she says shocking both of us. “What happened?” I ask her trying to make sense of what she is saying. “I heard my mate talking to someone about me. He said how weak I was. How I was not what he wanted and that he had someone he was going to pick as his Chosen mate,” she replies turning away from us but not before we saw the unshed tears in her eyes. I stand and move to stand beside her putting my hand on her arm.

Chapter 36 - Change of Plans

Jackson POV The next morning, we were training once again. Carrie had a ways to go but she was getting better quickly. Jessica and Mandy were training with her and the three were strong as a unit. Jessica and Mandy had clearly been fighting to stay alive, as they were quick on their feet. We had not seen Carrie shift yet. I did not know if she was ready for that. I had not spoken to her about going through her shift yet, but I needed to. When we did her ceremony, it was tradition that the Alpha and Luna shift and lead the Pack in a run. I hoped she would be ready for that as it solidified the unity of the Pack. “Again,” I say to the three of them as they continue hand to hand combat. Mandy whines, “I am ready to fight in wolf form,” she replies as Jessica nods her agreement. Josh is helping me with training this morning and looks to me wondering what our next move is. “Alright, if you want to shift into your wolves, you two can both practi

Chapter 37 - The Shift

Carrie POV I had to admit I was nervous. I could feel the excitement in Reba as we walked with Jackson to the clearing where I would shift. I had not shifted in two years and all I could remember was the pain of that first shift when I had just turned eighteen. It had been painful then. So much so I had passed out before I got to see Reba. After that I was quickly traded by my father and then I never had the chance to shift again. Reba has not said much about the shift. Other than to say it will not be as bad as the first shift. Whatever that is supposed to mean. It did not give me a lot of comfort. “Are you okay?” Jackson asks. “Of course, why?” I reply quickly. “You have not spoken for the last ten minutes, and your breathing is strained,” he says. I can hear the gentle teasing in his voice. Shaking my head, “I am nervous,” I reply. “I will be with you the entire time,” he tells me. “I know. I just cannot help thinking about my first

Chapter 38 - Mystery

Jackson POV I stripped off my clothing quickly. I could see Reba wanted to play with her mate and I needed time to think before Carrie and I talked about her wolf. As I shifted, Zak moved over to stand beside his mate. He rubbed himself all over her and she did the same. It was common for wolves to spread their scent on their mate. To let others know they belonged to someone else. As they finished, Reba yipped and nipped at Zak’s feet. She took off quickly, but he was just as fast and kept pace with her. He let her take the lead as she had not been in wolf form for a couple of years. In fact, you could say this was her first shift as she never got to run and play that first night. I wanted to communicate with Carrie to make sure she was alright but got the sense she wanted to be alone with her thoughts. I know the shift had been painful, but I hoped knowing she was a white wolf. No, a special hybrid wolf, helped with that experience. But w

Chapter 39 - Getting Ready

Carrie POV I stare at myself in the mirror. I was not permitted to leave the immediate property to go shopping as Jackson was too concerned about the threat surrounding me. He had gowns brought in for me to try, to decide on what to wear this evening. I had landed on a gorgeous red gown that had jewels sewn into the bodice. I felt like a princess in the gown. There was slit up my right thigh which added to the sexiness of the dress. In addition, my shoulders were bare with a sweetheart neckline finishing the design of the dress. On my feet were nude heels, which showed off my perfectly polished toes as of that morning. Jackson had looked after everything so quickly. Jessica, Mandy, and I were treated to new gowns, with pedicures, manicures, make-up, and hair done. Jackson had one of his IT people trying to track my father down with no success. We were going forward with the ceremony regardless. I could not help the sense of doom I had been

Chapter 40 - Vows

Jackson POV I was anxiously waiting inside the hall where the ceremony would take place. I knew Carrie should already be making her entrance. Deciding I could not wait any longer I start to walk towards the door where she should have already entered. Before I can reach the door, Rosie stands up and stops me from moving forwards. “Move, Rosie,” I growl at her, but she puts her hands up. “I just want a minute, Alpha,” she murmurs as I look at her in surprise. It had been years since she had called me Alpha, I realized recognizing that she has had little respect for me or my title since we had slept together. “I wanted to apologize for my behaviour the other night at dinner,” she says as I look at her and nod, “Apology accepted,” I say as I start to move around her. “I was simply jealous and afraid,” she adds grabbing a hold of my arm. I stop and scowl at her, “Get to your point, Rosie,” I say to her not buying her story. “I wanted y
