Chapter 61: Evan Sterling's POV (Present Time)

"I introduced her to you because I trusted you to help me take care of my woman while I was away. I brought her into that house, thinking I had an ally. But I was wrong. I made a terrible mistake trusting you. And you stab me, your son, your only son, in the back, and for what? I actually appreciate Edward now. He never hid who he was. He is scum and he made sure I knew it. But you, mother… You knew the truth about Estera, you were part of the plan to screw me over. And you let me think -- for all these years -- that my Estera was a fucking whore who got paid off. You did that to me. And I rewarded you for it. I stripped Edward of his shares and left yours to you. I brought you into my home to live with me, and provided for all your needs, and every day you watched me live in this shell of a body and you kept mute. You, mother, are far worse than Edward." I stood up and slipped my hands into the pockets of my trousers, watching her cry silently, and for the first time, her suffering

Chapter 62: Estera Roberts' POV (Present Time)

"Oh, my God those people are evil!" Ameera exclaimed. "I can't believe they did that to you!" Ashley interjected."I’ve always told you guys, that rich people are weird," I said, trying to make light of the situation. Reliving that period of my life wasn't easy. I had since buried it deep inside me. And would have sworn it had dimmed in my memory. But I was wrong. Speaking about it brought all the emotions welling inside me, making me remember the intense love I shared with Evan and the pain of losing him. I crossed my arms over my chest, feeling vulnerable. "Now it made sense why you kept Dr. Hottie at arm's length…." Ameera said."And why you kept your maiden name!" Ashley said, giving me an empathetic gaze."Maiden name?" I repeated."Why are you looking like that? Didn't it ever occur to you to add your husband's name to your name?" Ashley asked."You never did a change of name?" Ameera said."Whoa, what are you two talking about?" I said, letting out a peel of nervous laughter.

Chapter 63: Estera Roberts' POV (Present Time)

I was scared. I was scared shitless. The very thought of seeking Evan out after everything frightened me. And so I put it off and kept procrastinating. Ashley and Ameera encouraged me to get it over with, but they didn't understand. If I seek him out, we will have to talk extensively and I will ask him why he didn't come after me, and even though he told me in that hotel room that he loves me, I was scared of the stack reality of our journey. He married the woman his father wanted him to marry after I left. He went on with his life. His mother knew where I was for all that time at Harvard, so he should have known too, but still, he didn't come for me, not once, not even a letter. I'm not going to lie. That hurt like hell even far more than what his parents did to me. Because I had expected it. I had expected him to come for me and he never did. Maybe whatever he felt for me wasn’t as strong as I imagined and my marital status was just some clerical mistake. I just didn’t want to pro

Chapter 64: Estera Roberts' POV (Present Time)

“Cole—” I moaned into his mouth as I felt him slowly draw me away from the wall and reach behind me to pull down my zipper. Pulling the dress off of my shoulders he stopped kissing me to trail his lips down my neck to my collarbone and then lower. He reached for my hands, holding me by the wrist. he lifted them over my head and pressed them to the wall. I felt him pull down the cup of my bra and then his warm mouth closed around my left nipple, I jerked against the wall, and he applied pressure. I moaned his name. He didn’t stop. He suckled my nipples one after, the other until I was begging him to release my hand so I could touch him. I was dripping wet, and aching now. Damn, he was so good. When he stopped sucking my nipples his fingers resumed the torture as he took my lips again. I was well aware when he carried me to my bed and laid my back on the soft mattress. He joined me immediately, pulling off my dress and leaving me only in my underwear, he pressed his lips to my navel, cu

Chapter 65: Estera Roberts' POV (Present Time)

I tapped gently on Cole's office door and walked in. His head was bent over some papers and he had his glasses on. "Well?" he said without looking up. "After the dinner party organized to celebrate the end of our internship, I intend to transfer—" I said, wriggling my hands. He dropped the pen in his hand and raised his eyes to hold mine as he took off his glasses. I swallowed softly. "So, it is positive," he said and I swore his broad shoulder seemed to droop and an intense emotion clouded his beautiful eyes. My heart clenched. He let out a soft sigh and added, “Are you going to let him know?”“No… yes… I… I haven’t decided yet—”“You should, no matter what must have happened between the two of you, no man deserves to be kept away from his child—”“It’s complicated, Cole—” I replied. He sighed. "In regards to you transferring to another hospital, I can’t imagine why, Roberts. You love working here. The team will need you… your friends will miss you.""Cole--""If you want to do t

Chapter 66: Estera Roberts' POV (Present Time)

Cole was adamant about keeping me in the States, but I wore him out and he relented. We left shortly after the dinner the hospital planned to celebrate the end of our internship. Ameera and Ashley decided to stay on for a few more months, but I was certain, that none of us was ready to break the gang yet. They were excited for me when they heard about the program in Columbia but just like Cole, they weren’t so certain I should go in my condition. But I was glad neither pressured me to call Evan. I assured them I was going to be fine. Cole was with me after all. But I saw they were worried still and I promised to return back to the States if I felt I could not cope. That seemed to assuage them a bit. I also dropped a cheque for my rent, knowing leaving the two to shoulder it would be a bit of a stretch. I wasn’t going to pay a dime for my trip, and according to Cole, our expenses for the program were fully covered. And now that we are practicing doctors, we have an insane salary raise.

Chapter 67: Estera Roberts' POV (Present Time)

I felt him start to penetrate me -- inch by inch. His broad tip, stretching my vagina walls to accommodate him -- it was mind-blowing! And he wasn't gentle. He fucked me exactly like someone who had waited three damn years to do it. I held on to him for my dear life. I could barely draw air into my lungs. He was plundering my mouth at the same time he was pumping into me. I couldn't think straight. The pleasure melted my brain cells. Dinner with him felt a little strange, we were both quiet all through and our gazes met a couple of times. His eyes were dark and intense. I wanted to do the dishes but he asked me to leave them. I went up the stairs, leaving him in the living room. Much later, I heard the door to my room open, and he came to slip under the covers with me. When he pressed against my back, I found he was naked. And he wrapped his arms against my front, cupping my full breast as he drew me tightly to his chest. "I enjoyed being inside you, Roberts. I enjoyed it a gre

Chapter 68: Estera Roberts' POV (Present Time)

“I let your name slip once,” he whispered against my lips.“Really?” I replied in a low sexy tone.“Since then he always asks after you and sends his regards each time I go visiting—” I laughed.“Why?”“I have a habit of not talking about the women I date. He knew that was out of character … ”“I feel exceptionally special now ... ” I said shutting my eyes as he deepened the kiss.“You should, Roberts, you are special to me…” he said, reaching out to cup my face, he used his body weight to make me lie on my back and he pressed hard against me, covering his body with mine. Holding my gaze, he slowly pulled down my pyjamas pants, kicked off his, and with his eyes still holding mine, touched the broad tip of his cock against my vagina, but he didn’t slip inside. He used it to stroke my opening, making me grow wet for him. He kept his gaze locked with mine, but they were smoldering ones now.I breathed through parted lips, struggling to keep my lids open. When I couldn’t stand the wait an

Chapter 69: Evan Sterling's POV (Present Time)

After I discovered what my parents did to Estera, I had since started to plan how to obliterate the evidence the Dallas' have against Edward Sterling. In my quest, I found out there was a reason why Mary Antoinette made that call to me way back in New York and why she had been acting weird towards me like someone seeking atonement. She discovered she had Ovarian cancer and the doctor had told her she had a short time to live.I realized I could use that to my advantage and be nice and more attentive to her, hoping that would touch something inside her and she would help me break the invisible fucking chain around my neck, constantly threatening to snuff the life out of me -- may God forgive me, but I never wanted this in the first place. I was forced into it. And an option to get out of it as neatly as possible was enough motivation.I had enlisted Jacob's help in helping me to find Estera. New York was his territory and even he had failed. I had hired a private detective to search ev

Chapter 70: Evan Sterling's POV (Present Time)

It was a few weeks before Christmas and the weather in New York was chilly. The nurses came out to help wheel Mary Antoinette inside the hospital my mother walked with the nurse pushing the wheelchair, talking about her appointment with Dr. Foster. I was right behind them. Mary Antoinette kept looking back to see if I was still following, and each time our gazes met, I tried to flash a reassuring smile at her. I felt somewhat like a fraud and extremely awkward to be playing the role of the attentive husband and even though I knew she knew where I stood with her—thanks to Edward for making me angry enough to be brutally honest—it still made me feel weird. The nurse made a right turn, strolling down a wide pristine corridor to the left of the hallway leading away from the reception area. A movement by a door in a hallway to the right caught my attention, and I looked in that direction. Perhaps it was because I knew she worked there and was on the lookout for her, but my eyes settled on
