Chapter 61

Valerie: “Need I ask what the fuck you want with me to be roaming around me day in and night?” I asked, glaring at the Lycan who smiled at me. “I did aim to form a partnership, a friendship maybe, and I did voice out that I do fancy you, but it seems to me that you choose the latter when it comes to understanding what I want to tell you.” He said, and I rolled my eyes at the Lycan who smiled. “Now, now, I do believe that it is rude to roll your eyes when I am trying to be friendly.” “Yes, by friendly I can see five red lasers roaming around, mind you, guns, which are aimed at me.” I said, and he smirked. “Sharp eye, I do understand why your father is refusing to have Vadim as his heir with you alive. But I am curious about how things would turn out if you are choosing to side with wolves.” He said, looking me dead in the eye and I took a deep breath, knowing that this was not going to be ending well. If not with Alessandro finding out, then more shit was going to be thrown in our

Chapter 62

Alaric:“It didn’t work.” Daniella said, looking at me. I rolled my eyes at the naïve woman before shaking my head.“On the contrary. I now have her right where I want her.” I said, and she frowned. “But you are going to need to hide as I told you not to reveal yourself. The rogue has seen you and is most likely going to report to Alessandro. That would not only mean that you wouldn’t be able to approach the man, but that you would most likely be killed on sight by anyone who knows who Alessandro is and hears of your betrayal.”“That wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t choose to kidnap the woman a few blocks away from her house, you do realize that, right?” She asked, and I shook my head. The woman was far too blind to realize that the Alpha was not going to allow the woman to go out on her own, and if not Kai, I knew that Knox, who was now dead and sent as a present to the Alpha, would have been the one to follow.“The last time I met her, Malakai was not here. The assassin Alpha st

Alessandro: I watched as Valerie and Kai entered the house before I jumped off the couch and walked toward her. The one thing that had me stopping and not moving an inch was the fact that they actually wouldn’t let me go out in fear that I was going to do something that was going to end up with her getting harmed. The idea was one that I didn’t like but I knew that at that point, one wrong move would have been fatal for both Valerie and the baby, and I knew that it was not a risk that I wanted to take. I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her tightly but she surprised me when she put her hand on my chest, pushing me back. I frowned in confusion and she took a deep breath before her next words took me off guard as she voiced them out. “You knew that your lover was kidnapped by Vadim, and not only did you not mention anything, you used me to be distracted, is that correct?” Valerie asked. Nicholas, who was standing a few steps behind her, didn’t move an inch, and Malakai who was be

Chapter 64 (Surprise Little Present)

Dante: I watched as Aurora pulled her pendant out from under her shirt, revealing that she brought it with her. “Aurora…” “The two of us know that we are going to need it if we are going to end up fighting off the assassins, Dante.” She said, looking at me. I took a deep breath and nodded before Eva handed her the Eye. Having chosen to use them together, the ornaments were always stronger and more under control when with Aurora, but that didn’t deny Eva’s responsibility toward them. She has protected more than we could think of as she grew older, and I knew that she was more than a little capable of doing this. “Then it seems to me that we have an Alpha to help.” I said, nodding at my brother who rolled up his sleeves just as Valerie entered the house. Her face was as pale as a ghost, and I took a deep breath before cupping her cheeks, forcing her eyes on mine. The last thing that we needed was her panicking right now, and I knew that it was exactly what was happening. “How?” She

Chapter 65

Valerie: I gasped, waking up in the infirmary room. My chest rose and fell as I tried processing the fact that I was waking up as I looked around, trying to remind myself and process that I was here in the same Estate and not elsewhere. My heart raced, and I sat up only to find Alessandro putting a hand on my shoulder, gently squeezing it. “Alessandro?” I asked, panting as I tried catching my breath, remembering Knox and the fact that the assassins would have come. He nodded and took my hand in his, squeezing it gently. “Are you okay?” He asked just as the door opened, revealing Dante. I glared at the Alpha who smirked and raised his hands in mock surrender. The fact that he grabbed me by my neck, forcing me to sleep or more specifically lose consciousness was something that I couldn't just let go of. “I am sorry, but I had to do it to ensure that you didn’t end up getting yourself killed. You know, we still have a little one on the way and the last thing that we needed if this

Chapter 66

Alessandro: I walked in the garden, and took a deep breath. My heart raced against my chest and I couldn’t help the heavy feeling that I felt in my chest. I sat on the floor in front of one of the trees and I couldn’t help but find myself running my fingers through my hair, trying to take a deep breath as I did. “What am I going to do?” I said, shaking my head at myself. My chest ached, and I hit the back of my head a few times before I was interrupted by Eva walking toward me. “You are going to end up hurting yourself, I will tell you that.” She said, taking me off guard. I got up from the floor to look at her and she smiled. “Bad time?” “I needed to be alone, but it seems to me that you have something to tell me.” I said, and she smiled, crossing her arm over her chest as she looked at me. The fact that I knew that she might be the one person who knows how I was thinking was one thing that I found both disturbing and annoying to some extent. I knew that I wasn’t going to be ab

Chapter 67

Valerie: I walked out of the bathroom, thankful for the fact that I was able to freshen up before going to bed. The fact that I knew that Alessandro might not want me sleeping with him in the same room was something that I wouldn’t deny, and I knew not to try and pressure the man into doing something that he might not have the mindset for. Therefore, I chose to just go to my room directly, not wanting to test more of my luck than I already did. I wore a black shirt and shorts, smiling when I saw my baby bump through my clothes. I knew that at least my little one would be keeping me company on a night like this one. I ran my hand over it gently, shaking my head when I felt her kick on my palm. The night was a peaceful one despite the earlier storms that we were dealing with, and I couldn’t help but find myself wondering what Kai was talking about when he spoke to Alaric. The fear that the Lycan seemed to have from him was one that I never pictured seeing, but I couldn’t help but fi

Chapter 68

Alessandro: I smiled, waking up with Valerie laying on my chest as I cradled her in my arms. The number of things that we had to do were countless, but the fact that I knew that with every passing day, she neared her labor date, I didn’t know how things were going to go. I didn’t even know how she would be looking at me after she found out that I would have tried giving her baby to Daniella. Her reaction surprised me, but I knew that it could be hell before a storm. And that was something that I feared. “Good morning,” Valerie said, turning to look at me. I smiled and looked down at Valerie who slept in my arms. “Morning,” I said, and she smiled. Her eyes met mine for a second, and though calm, I had to admit that I was somewhat concerned about how she truly felt. “You seem to be off. You know, considering that I believe that a heavy weight should have been lifted off your shoulder, I can’t help but feel like something is going on.” She said, and I smiled. Her eyes met mine as sh

Chapter 69

Alessio: “What do you mean that they are growing closer?” I asked, glaring at Daniella who pinched the bridge of her nose. “It was the last thing that I expected as well, Alessio, but my men are having their eyes on them and they are getting closer as days go by. Some even mistake them for mates and that is going to be affecting our plans more than we can think.” She said, and I scoffed before grabbing her by her neck. It was her part to keep Alessandro at bay and under control, but no, she chose to fail her task. “You know, when you told me that Alessandro slept with a different woman, I wouldn’t have believed that it was Valerie. When you told me that he rejected a woman, I suspected that it would be a second mate, but the last thing that I expected was for you to fail enough not to see through the fact that the ONE thing that you were supposed to do, which was to keep him away from the huntress, to come out as a failure.” I said, digging my fingers inside her neck. She whimpered

Chapter 70

Valerie: I ran my hand over my stomach as I looked out the window, wondering where things were going to be taking us right now. Alessandro, who was initially in his office, walked toward me and wrapped his arms around me from behind, pulling me to his chest as he hugged me. I smiled and put a hand on his cheek as a low purr filled my ears, his purrs, making my heart swell. “You’ve been standing here for the past hour,” he commented, running his hand over my stomach. Our baby moved inside me, and I smiled, looking down at his hand before putting mine on top of it. Truth be told, I didn’t even know why I was standing here, but a heavy feeling settled inside my chest and I couldn’t help but find myself needing some air. But I knew that it was unsafe for me to go out on my own, especially with the assassins roaming around, despite them telling Alessandro that they understood that he wasn’t the one who killed Knox. “Something is going on, but I don’t know what it is, and I don’t even kn
