Chapter 41

Valerie: I walked through the streets of Las Vegas, wondering how the hell I managed to get myself in what I am in. The fact that the Alpha believed that he could buy my life back with whatever money that he could give me annoyed me, but it wasn’t just that; it was the fact that he didn’t even see it as wrong. Hell, he even believed that he could pay back for what he took when in reality, the two of us knew very well that he took more than he would ever be able to give back. I put my hand on my stomach as I got lost in my thoughts and I couldn’t help but find myself wondering what would have happened if I chose to accept Alessio’s offer. Maybe things would have been a lot easier for me or maybe I would have found myself entering a whole different hurricane that I no longer wanted to handle. “I should have just left when I could have.” I muttered to myself. “You tend to have a lack of judgment at times, it is something that I have noticed.” I heard the Lycan’s voice from behind me.

Chapter 42

Alessandro: “What do you fucking mean that she is with Alaric? How the fuck did he even find her?” I asked, tightening my grip around the phone. “I don’t know, Alpha, but the two of them are roaming through shops together. She doesn’t seem in distress…” “Keep your eyes on them and if she needs anything, let me know, and her location and coordinates at all times.” I said, tapping my desk twice. The fact that she wouldn’t let me be with her but was more than willing to be with the Lycan is something that annoyed me more than anything, and the idea of her being with him was one thing that I didn’t even want to consider. “Yes, boss.” Knox said, and I hung up. The woman believed that I would be sending her without security in a city that was still not completely safe, and the fact that Alaric was here only proved my point about it being as dangerous as it was. I ran my fingers through my hair as my phone rang again, and answering without checking caller ID, I waited for Knox to tell

Chapter 43

Valerie: “Surely you had different dreams that don’t include…” “That is not something that I want to discuss. You know, considering that I won’t be able to change it.” I said, and Alaric nodded in understanding. “I don’t regret my baby, but what I do regret is not leaving when I wanted to.” “You would have left without the man knowing about his child?” He asked, shaking his head in question, and I sighed. “I know that it may not be fair for him or my baby, but the fact that it would have spared all of us a lot is not something that I can deny. You know, at least the child would have lived normally and the man wouldn’t have lost his love, his home, and pack.” I said, looking down at the table. “You blame yourself because he cheated on his lover?” He asked, shaking his head in question, and I sighed. “I know by logic, I shouldn’t be feeling guilty, and I know that I shouldn’t feel guilty over it. And I know that he did it knowing that he had his lover, but I can’t help but thinkin

Chapter 44

Alessandro: I watched as Valerie walked inside the room, carrying two bags in her hand before she threw them on the ground. She watched as they landed with a loud thud, but didn't seem to react for a second before she looked up at me, clearly having her full attention on me as she revealed how annoyed she seemed to be. I frowned in confusion before she approached me with an anger in her eyes that I never thought that I would be seeing. And considering that the two of us didn't argue; the woman didn't even know that I spoke to Daniella, and for that, she would have no reason to be reacting the way that she was. She raised her hand, and I was surprised when her palm came in contact with my right cheek, taking me off guard as she slapped me. And to admit, she was the first woman to actually dare to do so while knowing that I was an Alpha, and though I didn't know whether or not to be impressed by her courage, or stupidity, I couldn't help but find myself growing more determined about

Chapter 45

Valerie: I sat on the edge of the bed, watching as the Alpha and his security team searched for me. The anger that I felt toward the man was one that I couldn’t ignore, especially considering the fact that not only did I feel betrayed, but I was more than a little furious about how the Lycan had approached me as casually. I knew that Alessandro could have easily come with me if he wanted to, but it was clear to me that if he didn’t, it meant that he knew that the Lycan was going to be there, and he most likely wanted him to be. It was something that angered me more than I already was. To believe or think for a small second that I could form a sort of friendship with the bastard or that the two of us could have a subtle relationship. “Find her, and I don’t give a damn where she is…” he said before stopping. I knew that he would have caught on to the fact that I never did leave the room eventually, but I was more than a little curious about when he was going to find me. The man didn

Chapter 46

Alessandro:I froze for a second too long as I tried processing Valerie’s words. Her eyes which were fixed on mine told me that there was no way for her to be lying, but I couldn’t help but find myself thinking of what Daniella told me.The fact that she might have lied to me was something that made my chest burn, and the fact that I believed her was a whole different case scenario. I pulled my phone out of my pocket as I walked out of Valerie’s bedroom, ignoring the clench that I felt in my chest before dialing Leonardo’s number. My hands shook, and I knew that more hell was going to be coming with everything that I just learned, both from Valerie and from Daniella who seemed to be holding more lies than I would have ever believed that she would. The fact that she lied to me was one thing, but the idea that I was fooled with it was a completely different story as the woman that I knew was never one to lie to me this way. If anything, she was always the one to fight me against it.“

Chapter 47

Valerie: I walked out of my room, not bothering to look at the maids who were cleaning up. And though I did feel bad for them having to deal with this fuss, it wasn’t their fault that things happened the way that they have; I knew that me caring for a second was going to end up people believing that they could end up treating me the way that the Alpha believed that he could treat me. My heart raced, and I knew that it wasn’t the presence of Alessandro that bothered me. It was another Alpha, a familiar one that I dealt with once or twice before. Thankfully, though no one knew about it, the two of us often managed to spare one another before anyone saw it. “Alpha Knox, it seems to me that the two of us have gotten the pleasure of meeting one another again.” I said, crossing my arms over my chest, not bothering to look at Alessandro who was sitting on the couch. The Alpha straightened as Knox got up from his chair to shake my hand. “It seems so. Alessandro told me that you were here

Chapter 48

Alessandro: I couldn’t help but double over when Valerie kneed my gut. Knox had to muffle his laugh as he shook his head, and Valerie glared at me before taking a step back. “Find another girl to give that fucked up line of yours.” She said, turning to the front door. Knox moved from in front of her, and I went to follow her only for the assassin to hold me back. “She is angry and is with child, and would need to process everything that you told her before allowing you to approach her.” He said, pushing me back. I glared at him, and he raised an eyebrow at me. “This is the first time that I have seen you this annoyed with a woman rejecting your presence. And I didn’t know that you had a mate that wasn’t Daniella.” “Daniella and I are lovers, but the mate happens to be Valerie.” I said, shaking my head as I looked at the front door knowing that she was sitting out on the porch. The anger that she felt was one that I could sense inside me, and that was something that I was more than

Chapter 49

Valerie: “You do not have to explain anything to me, Alessandro.” I said, looking at the Alpha who nodded. “I know that you are going to be saying that, but it concerns the man that was supposed to be your father-in-law, and I think that you have every right to be there to at least hear what the Alpha and his Luna have to say about his presence.” He said, looking at me. The fact that he was practically dragging me to the house was something that surprised me, and the idea of him wanting me to engage in this was all the more surprising to me too. “Alessandro, I do not care what Alessio or Lucius have in mind. As long as our baby is safe…” “Well, I do.” He said, stopping me. “I know the demon enough to know for fact that he did not return after years of disappearing to simply wed you to his son. I apologize for the reminder, but I know for fact that something was going to be part of this wedding, and the reason why I want you by my side is to also hear what we would be planning again

Chapter 50

Alessandro: I took a deep breath before walking toward Valerie’s room, knowing that she was there, choosing her clothes. I knocked on the door, and she stopped in front of the closet, waiting for what I was going to tell her. “I know that you are angry with everything that you’ve been going through lately. And I know and understand that I deserve it, but what I don’t want is for you to think that I would be considering fighting on a side that you’re not in.” I said, standing by the door. “You’re still my child’s mother, and I am not going to harm you for the sake of whatever war might occur. It is one thing that I want you to keep in mind, Valerie Morozov.” I walked toward her closet, knowing that she wouldn’t turn to face me and placed the phone on the shelf in front of her. My body heated as I stood for a second, and I couldn’t help but find myself wondering how things would have gone if the two of us somehow managed to actually talk things out instead of just arguing the way th
