Bella I remember running in the lanes of this town. Growing up, I used to hate how dim this town used to be. When the cities were developing fast, my town was developing at the pace of a snail. Back then, it was irritating how I had to struggle to order food for myself considering how we used to live on the outskirts of the city. Who knew one day I would fall in love with the quietness and tranquility my birth town holds? Smiling after God knows how many days or months, I took a deep breath in. I embraced the cold breeze that was blowing. My body was shivering slightly. It was cold here. And I wasn’t dressed properly. Just a pair of dark jeans and a white shirt, half tucked in, was barely providing me any warmth from the chilly atmosphere. But for the first time, I was finding warmth in the coldness. The cold air made me feel safe. Away from all the dangers and pain I left behind. Even when this town holds the most painful memory of my life, it still managed to throw the fear out

“Bella,”He had changed so much. He was no longer twenty years old. He had changed so much. He was looking taller, stronger, and more handsome than before. Dressed in a white shirt a pair of black tailored pants and a matching suit, he looked dangerously beguiling. My heart stammered inside my chest. I forgot to breathe when his fingers were gripping my face gently, examining my bruises. But everything was lost in his charm. He smelled the same. He used the same body wash and the same cologne. Everything felt the same and yet everything had changed. The man standing in front of me was a stranger whom I used to love so much. “Who did this, Bella?” He asked me, his protective side of him still made my heart flip traitorously. No matter how much I lied to myself I knew I was not over him. How can I ever be? When he was sounding like that? His dark eyes were holding my brown ones, waiting for a response but I was too stunned to speak. He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, making

Chapter 3The car ride was silent. None of us spoke. After Silas opened the door for me, like the gentleman he is, and made me sit inside his car, he turned silent. Maybe he was giving me time and peace to think of an excuse to keep my secret safe. But knowing Silas, he won't stop until he reaches the truth. And once he does, I don't know what he will do. Rubbing my arms, I stared out of the window. It was cold here. And the clothes I was wearing were barely preventing me from the cold wind that was blowing outside. But the friction of my palms against my arms was barely giving me any warmth. My body turned still, like an ice cap, when Silas leaned close to me, draping his warm, soft coat around my shoulders. Like someone squeezed my throat and caged my chest, his presence made it hard for me to breathe normally. "You still don't know how to take care of yourself? You haven't really changed in the past seven years, Bella. You're still so careless with yourself." Silas' strong voic

I was lying when I said I liked someone else's pasta more than his. Silas cooked food like nobody else ever did. But infuriating this new version of Silas Kingsley had its own fun and satisfaction. But who knew this newfound possessiveness inside him might burn me? "I am actually curious to know who managed to charm you so much that you decided to give their cooking a chance. Because the Bella Murphy I know doesn't trust anyone with her taste buds. Except one. Me." Silas said, his midnight eyes aching my entire existence in his eyes. It was cruel for me to see how deep his eyes were. It was hard for me to look into them and not drown. And the more I drowned in his eyes, the more I realized that I never really swam out of them. "There's something called restaurants, diners, cafes, food courts, and food joints, Mr. Kingsley. And their chefs cook food more delicious than you can ever cook. So keep your jealousy inside yourself, and serve me some food." I said, rubbing my palms togethe

When I woke up the other day, it was still dark outside. I couldn't sleep the entire night. New places always creeped me out and it made it extremely difficult for me to sleep. So I decided to get ready and go out to hunt for a job for myself. Staying with Silas in the same house was not good for my mental and heart health. His face is enough to remind me of the beautiful past we had and the pain he gave me after making me believe in love so much. When Silas made me believe in love for the first time, he was the only one who broke my trust and faith in love and men. After taking a quick bath, I changed into a pair of formal pants and a brown blouse. I pulled my red hair into a ponytail and wore my shoes again. I need to earn to survive and hide myself from Ethan and my father. And for that, I need a good-paying job. It was still dark, and I could barely find anyone in the mansion except for some kitchen staff who were cleaning the kitchen while others were chopping the vegetables.

One thing that I was never proud of was my running skills. Back in my school days, Silas always kept pestering me to pay attention to my physical health. According to him, I can’t even run a mile without huffing like a seventy-year-old woman. Who knew Silas’ concern for my lack of enthusiasm in physical strength would be my concern when Ethan’s man was running behind me, angry and determined? Angry because I kicked him in the jewels, and determined because he was here to catch me and send information to Ethan and my father. “Stop running, bitch! You think you can escape Ethan after humiliating him in front of everyone?” The man, whom I remember as Alfred barked in annoyance. “I don’t think I can when I already did you, you thick-skulled man! And leave me the fuck alone.” I cried out in impatience and anger, and the moment I turned around, my foot got stuck in the chair I didn’t see and fell down. Alfred smiled at me, his sinister smile made me flinch when he raised his hand to gra

Silas Kingsley’s eyes said a lot of things his mouth refused to say. The deep abyss of his midnight eyes cast sudden coldness into the environment. I shivered when he took a step forward, slipping his phone back into his pocket, no longer interested in it. I just wanted to tease him a little bit. But I forgot that every action brings a reaction to it. Newton’s law was long forgotten somewhere in my mind until I saw Silas again. “I am just curious, Bella. Which company did you get the job in?” He asked me serenely. The amount of tranquility his voice held was enough to scare me. One should beware of the lion when he is not attacking. Because that’s when he is plotting. “And why do you think I will tell you the name?” I asked him, and he subtly arched an eyebrow, tilting his head slightly, and running his index finger slowly against his chin. My stomach churned when his intense eyes met mine, meeting like a bolt of lightning, giving rise to a myriad of flames deep inside me. I don’t

Terror drained the color from my skin when my eyes fell on the red card. It was Ethan. Ethan sent it to me. How did he come to know about my whereabouts? And how did he manage to send the flowers to Silas’ place made my complexion ghostly with fear. Silas was staring at me with unknown emotion after reading the card. Before he could tear the card apart, I snatched the card and flowers from him, not wanting Silas to be anywhere near the flower bouquet Ethan sent for me. I was enough to bear the pain and suffering, Silas didn’t have to give me company in my pain. “Who sent this bouquet to you, Bella?” Silas asked me calmly, scarily. Like a precursor to a storm, there was an ominous undertone to his hushed voice. A part of me, which still depended on Silas for my protection wanted me to throw myself in his arms and cry about the pain I endured because I was left alone, vulnerable, and miserable to my father’s greed. I wanted to tell him how I was forced to serve a drug lord because my

Martin looked at me with amused eyes as I asked him to sit on the passenger seat and took the wheel myself. Even after trying my best to ignore him, I couldn’t. “Why are you laughing? Never saw a woman driving before?” I asked him, and Martin shook his head, smiling playfully at me as he buckled his seat. “It’s not about a woman driving a car. It’s about an engaged woman getting concerned about another man she wants to get rid of. It’s amusing. Not the woman taking the wheel.” Martin said, his chuckle making me embarrassed and angry. “I am not concerned about his wellbeing. I just don’t want to be blamed if he gets into an accident because he can’t control his temper” I lied, and Martin nodded his head, mocking me.“You are just like how Silas told me you were. Stubborn and adorable.” A crimson blush erupted through my cheeks. Glaring at him, I started driving. I don’t know how to react to it. What was I supposed to say? “Holy shit, woman! Slow down. No wonder Silas never allowed

His clothes were too big for me. The man had grown in size. Not only was he taller than he was seven years back, but he was also slightly muscular though he was still majorly lean. His sweatshirt was so long that I had to tuck it inside the sweatpants. I was looking hilarious wearing clothes thrice of my size. But his clothes had a peculiar fragrance. It was enticing me. I could smell him on his clothes. And it was enough to make me smile. His scent was comforting. It had always comforted me and made me feel safe. I remember when we were in a relationship seven years back, I would always borrow clothes from him and never return them back. Feeling giddy, I walked out of the car to find Silas leaning against the hood of his car. Even he had changed his clothes. I don’t know how many sets of clothes he kept with him. But he was dressed in a white t-shirt and a pair of gray sweatpants. His hair was disheveled, and slightly damp, falling on his forehead, making him look boyish. His midn
