CHAPTER 41

After I got my things from the dressing room I found Kane waiting for me in the hallway and I was still limping but I insisted that I was alright. I didn’t even bother getting changed and he could see the bruise forming on my ribs. “What the hell made you do that?” He asked. “The way he was yelling and berating Asher this morning. He reminded me too much of Dominic. And look at how fucked up I turned out because of it.” I said. But Kane grabbed my hand and stopped me from walking. He forced me to look at him, and he made sure that I was looking straight into his eyes. “You’re not fucked up. Dominic didn’t ruin you. You are the strongest woman I have ever met in my life.” He said. “If you say so.” “What’s the damage?” He asked. “At least one broken rib. I’ll wrap it when we get home. There’s nothing they can do for it at home.” I said. So as soon as we got home I saw Landon working on the computer at the dining table and I sat at the other end of the table. Kane grabbed

Kane and I didn’t get back to the packhouse until after dark and he ordered some food to be delivered to the house. Neither of us really felt like making anything. Landon was gone by the time we got back and I went to get changed into something a little more comfortable and I sat in the living room and started looking for something to watch on TV. I could feel Kane watching me, afraid that I was going to break down at any moment, but he didn’t need to worry. I was going to be fine. My mother was dead, we just buried her, there’s nothing I can do to change that. So I am not going to wallow in self pity when we could be trying to find her family and the bastards responsible for killing her. But I’m not an idiot. I know that it’s a really slim chance that I am going to find the person responsible for this. Even if it was Nicholas. No one knows how to hide like a vampire. While I was sitting on the couch looking for a movie to watch I heard the front door open and close. I turne

CHAPTER 43

As you can imagine, we didn’t get any sleep that night. We tore the whole packhouse apart. Room by room searching for cameras. And we were successful. We found so many hidden around the packhouse and they were so fucking small that you would never notice them until you were really looking for them. Every time we found a new camera we would stand on it and smash it, before adding it to the pile on the coffee table. But it was a big house and a lot of rooms to search. We were still going well after sunrise, searching every room wanting to know where they all were. Delilah had recorded private conversations about me and what I was. Or, what I wasn’t. I didn’t even know what I was. But I knew that my father was a vampire and that would come in very handy to someone like Calvin. He would be more determined to get his hands on me now. Wherever Delilah has gone, she’s got such sensitive information and for all we knew, she was selling it to the highest bidder. And we didn’t know who th

CHAPTER 44

Kane and I slowly made our way to the border and Kane was holding my hand and talking to me the whole time. Reassuring me that he wasn’t going anywhere and the patrols weren’t going to let them touch me. They are going to protect their Luna until their last breath. He trusted these men and I needed to as well. Which I guess, now was as good a time as any to put my trust in them. When we got to the border we saw a small group of vampires standing on the other side of our territory and a group of wolves standing right in front of them, baring their teeth and in a protective stance. Ready to attack at any moment. “Savannah. There you are.” The man at the front said. And honestly, he didn’t look that much older than Kane. “You must be Nicholas.” I said. “Why so informal? That’s dad to you.” He said. “No it isn’t. Dad is a title that needs to be earned. And believe me, you have not earned it.” I scoffed. “That’s a very fair point. I haven’t earned it. I haven’t been here. I’ve

I could remember everything that I did, but it was almost like it wasn’t me that had done it. Like I had been watching from someone else’s view. I didn’t know how else to explain it. I knew what was happening but I felt powerless to stop it. Someone consumed me and there was nothing that I could do about it. “I could have hurt you. Or your pack.” I said. “You weren’t directing your anger at us. You knew what you were doing.” “I couldn’t control anything that I was doing.” I said. “Come on. We need to get you home.” He said. But I stopped walking when he said that and started shaking my head. “What’s wrong?” He asked. “I can’t go back there. Everyone saw what I did. Everyone knows that I am different. There is no containing that. You can’t tell all those warriors to keep their mouths shut. They would have already gone back and told everyone.” I started rambling. So Kane turned to look at me and he cupped my face with both of his so I was looking him straight in the face. “

CHAPTER 46

Kane knew that I was really anxious about what the elders were going to meet about. Even though Kane was the Alpha of the pack, I guess he didn’t get to decide everything. But now that people knew what I was and what I was capable of doing, things were different. And Kane’s views on the subject were bias. So the elders decided to take it into their own hands. I got sick of sitting around the house waiting while they were trying to make their decision so I decided to go to the training field where Kane was supervising the younger kids while they were training. They only had one trainer with 40 students to train and it was hard for him to keep up with all of them. They were newly shifted wolves and when I went and stood next to Kane, I noticed that they were all looking at me a little weird. They had obviously heard the rumors. But I was watching the training, along with Kane, and I didn’t like what I was seeing. So I walked over to a couple of the kids and I introduced myself a

CHAPTER 47

By the time Kane and I got to the border, Nicholas and his friends were all standing on the other side and his face lit up with a smile when he saw me. I tried to walk closer to the border, but Kane grabbed my arm and wouldn't let me get any closer. I know that he was just trying to protect me, but I wasn't really in the mood for it. I scowled at him, but I stayed where I was. "Evening." Nicholas said. "Why the fuck is your family delibrately getting women pregnant who belong to the same bloodline?" I asked. "Because that is the only bloodline that we can reproduce with." He said, without wavering or trying to act like he didn't know what I was talking about. He had delibrately not told me this the night before, but he didn't seem surprised that I had found out. "Why are you trying to create your own little army? Don't you see that I am not even on your side? I have been raised by werewolves and this is my home." I said. And I could feel Kane squeeze my hand when I said that

CHAPTER 48

Within a flash I saw Kane rush Dominic across the room and slam him up against the wall by his throat. Dominic was trying to breathe and looking around frantically while I just stood there watching Kane crushing his throat. He looked at me with pleading eyes but I just stared at him. "You have a lot of fucking nerve coming to me and asking for refuge." Kane growled in his face. "I didn't know." Dominic choked out. "What didn't you know?" Kane asked, loosening his throat slightly. "I didn't know that she was here." Dominic said. And he let go of Dominic's throat, but kept a tight grip on his clothing. "What the fuck does that matter? You beat your mate and your child." Kane said. "She's not mine." Dominic said with disdain and Kane punched him across the face, causing blood to started dripping from his nose. "Does it really fucking matter? She was a child." "Who is she to you anyway?" Dominic asked. "My fucking mate." Kane glared him in the eyes, and Dominic realized

CHAPTER 49

I stood at the top of the stairs that led to the basement because I really didn't want to go down there and face Dominic. Kane knew that I didn't want to go down there, and I hesitated for a long time. Long enough for Kane to know that I was there and he came up the stairs to see me. "I know that you don't want to see him. And I am really sorry for this." Kane said, holding my hands. "Can't you just get the names and tell me?" I asked. "He said that he will only tell them to you." Kane said. "Of course he did. Always needs to be in control, that son of a bitch." I said. He had a bad habit of that. He was always pulling the same shit with my mother. If she didn't want to do something, then he would manipulate her and he would do whatever was necessary to get her to do what he wanted. And a lot of the things that she didn't want to do were very well founded. Just like the morning when I found a strange woman walking out of my parents bedroom and my mother walked out afterwards a

CHAPTER 50

We charged at the wolves attacking the bus and Kane claimed that he didn't recognise them or their scent. They weren't from around here. Which made us all question what they were doing here. But we didn't have time to ask that question. I jumped clear across the wolves on the ground and I barreled into the wolves that were on the side of the bus, trying to get their paws in the window to attack the kids. I stood on top of the bus for the kids to see, and they all stopped screaming when they saw me there. I was probably the largest wolf that they had ever seen. But I gave them a softer look than the others and then I heard them on the ground getting ready to attack again. So I lunged off of the bus and I attacked the two wolves that I just knocked off of the bus. "These people are human. We can't kill these wolves because they will turn back into their humans. We can only injure them and make them retreat." Kane ordered through the mind link. If we killed them and they turned bac
