As soon as I saw the look on Kane’s face, I knew that Daniel was here to say that my mother was dead. It was way too obvious. “So, how did it happen? Booze or pills?” I asked. “Actually, she was found near the border.” Daniel said. “What was she doing near the border?” I asked. “We don’t know. But it happened very early this morning. We don’t know why she was there, there are a lot of unanswered questions right now. All we know is that, she was brutally murdered.” Daniel said. “What?” I asked, shocked. “That can’t be right. That can’t be my mother. There’s only one thing that’s going to kill her and that’s an overdose. Everyone knows that.” I said. “I’m sorry baby.” Kane said, squeezing my hand. “Calvin. His men have to be here. Surrounding this place.” I said. “That’s what we think. But we don’t know. We’re going to investigate this fully before we come to a conclusion. We’ve got our best people on it already and they will have answers for you very soon.” Daniel said.

SAVANNAH POV When I woke up that afternoon I was really surprised that I had even fallen asleep. I rolled over and Kane was laying on the bed next to me, reading one of my journals. I was surprised that he was still interested in them. But I guess he wanted to know what I grew up with. Or he could be trying to find something in there that would point to a weakness of Calvin’s. I don’t know and I didn’t really care. I don’t know why I was even letting him read those things. It was all bullshit that I managed to survive and get away from. When Kane realized I was awake he put the book on his bedside table and he laid down beside me. He rubbed his hand over the side of my face, moving the hair out of my face. “How did you sleep?” He asked. “Fine. Actually.” I said. “You sound surprised.” “I am. It’s weird. He can’t just say that and not tell me what they found. “He did a blood work on your mother. Absolutely nothing turned out to be normal.” “What is that meant to mean?” I asked. “I mean, he found traces of werewolf DNA but it was mixed with foreign DNA that he can’t identify.” He said. So I grabbed the file off of him. “It says here that there’s one more piece of DNA in her system that he can’t identify. So, what does that mean? My mother was also a hybrid?” I asked. “Also?” Daniel asked. “If you repeat that to anyone I will have you executed.” Kane glared at Daniel. And Daniel shut up immediately. “This makes no sense. First, we find out that my father might not be my father. And then my mother was killed by possible vampires instead of werewolves. And now she’s a hybrid. I was reeling from that information. All this time I thought that I didn’t know my mother’s maiden name, but she’d been using it all along. I wonder how she got away with that with my father. I know that he was really close to Calvin, so how the hell would she have gotten away with that. There’s no way Dominic would have wanted that to get out because it would have embarrassed him. But then Landon landed another devastating blow to me. “You weren’t born in Calvin’s pack.” Landon said. “What?” I asked. “You were born in Black Moon Pack.” Landon said as he was still typing away, trying to find whatever information he could. “It’s not your mother’s original pack. They took her in briefly while she was pregnant. But she left just after you were born. I managed to avoid Kane all day that day, because I knew that he was looking for me. And I knew that he wouldn’t pull me out of school. He already knew that I didn’t want to stick out as the Luna at school. I just wanted to be another school kid and he was going to respect that. But after lunch I went to the training field and Asher’s father Jason was already out there getting everyone ready for training. “Savannah. You’re back at training.
