There is a huge open space between the rear side of the packhouse and the woods. The late sun is still bright enough to lighten up the entire place. No house, no trees, nothing as protection to hide behind. Just open fields filled with beautiful wild flowers and knee-high grass. It is a beautiful sight but the worst thing imaginable for our current situation. “Let me down,” I yell at Jax, feeling panic rising, my heartbeat increasing by the second. But he keeps running in the direction of the woods, totally ignoring my request. Only moments later, another wolf appears at our side, one I don’t recognise. It’s a fairly tall wolf with dark brown fur. There’s no escaping from Drake, I think to myself, filled with bitterness. More wolves will be here any moment, and I prepare myself for the wolf to attack Jax, but it doesn’t.
