"It is me..." I whispered as I stepped closer, "Close your eyes." Sam complied reluctantly, and I gently cupped his cheek. "I'm right here with you." I whispered gently as I trailed my other hand along his arm. Sam swallowed, but remained tense. I looked at my hand, and the long black nails that weren't my own. "Sam." I gently said with some doubt. "Stop. You need to stop." Sam responded, opening his eyes again. Pain crossed them. "I... It's not even your voice, not your touch, nothing that you are. Your temperature is numbed, and you feel almost as cold as a demon, and your innocence is subdued. My heart knows it's you... But my head, my head is having trouble accepting this." His words didn't prevent Sam from tenderly cupping my cheek, gazing deeply into my eyes with an inscrutable expression. "I need you. As yourself. I need to claim you, to seal my bond with you.
