“A choice in what?” I whisper, uncertain what to do with this new information. “I’ve sent Jessa with my delta, Anthony, to retrieve you from White Ridge. I spoke with Dr. Boyter and he felt that as long as you take it easy and report when your migraines start and stop, he has no issues with releasing you from Ridge General. They will come to the hospital in the morning. Jessa brought some of your clothes with her so she can help you get dressed and they will be staying until you are released. You will stay the night with Jessa at the Ridgeline Grand Hotel before making the trip back to Crimson Dawn.” “Why are you saying I don’t have a choice when I want to return?” “I’m glad you feel that way as it will make getting you out of the hospital easier with your cooperation.” “Alpha?” I speak nervously. “It’s okay to speak your mind, Cole?” “I want to come back to you but your plan. Something feels very wrong with your plan. Why can’t Alpha Moore take me to the hotel? I can’t explain

(Dr. Andrew Moore’s POV) “Excellent, that’s exactly what we need in this case. I’m leaving to get him now and we will be there in an hour.” I can barely contain my excitement that we were able to pull this together so quickly. “I’m sorry for such a late reply to your request. I hope the lateness of the evening doesn’t prevent him from leaving.” Alpha Whiting of the White Wolf pack apologizes. “He was ready to go around four this afternoon and was very disappointed when I wouldn’t take him with me after I brought him some clothes to change into around eight. Although he’s doing well at Ridge General there was something that spooked him bad before we left so I’m certain this will be a relief.” I start the engine and pull quickly out of the driveway. “Just send me a quick text or even call when you’re on your way so I know when to expect you.” “Yes sir.” I speed up quickly as I get on the highway heading towards the hospital. It’s only a twenty minute drive but it’s obvio

(Cole’s POV)I whimper softly as the harsh pain of my injuries is the only thing that tells me I’m even alive. I start moving cautiously, slowly trying to acclimate myself to my surroundings. My eyes are swollen shut and my jaw is wired shut for the fourth time in my life. Genius, I’m blind and mute. My whimpers increase as I feel the weight of a cast that covers my arm from the palm of my hand and up over my left elbow. My right arm is a little better but not by much. A shorter plastic brace covers that arm, falling just below my elbow. “Easy, Cole.” A slightly recognizable voice speaks to me but I’m unable to place who it is. “You are significantly injured. You had a hard three day fight in the hospital before we could safely move you to my house. Alex and I didn’t know if you would make it this time.” I take a deep breath as the oxygen cannula under my nose tickles me. The regret is instant as the ribs on my left side scream in pain. My yelps are cut short by the fact I can’t

“There are many reasons that I refused to leave you at General this time but I think the best way for you to understand is starting at the beginning. When you were dumped the only thing you were wearing was a pair of boxers. Your face was so bloody and swollen that when you arrived at the hospital not even Alex recognized you. He took a blood sample once he got the IV in your ankle. I was shocked when he called me later that morning wanting me to attend a private meeting. Emily, take a seat on the bed. I would like you to help keep him calm. Although these medications help his pain they also cause him to feel a lot of burning.” I whimper lightly as the bed dips beside me. A much smaller hand now slips into mine. I attempt to yelp as I feel the burn, pulling my leg away from the source until it meets the resistance of a gentle hold. “I give both of these in four small doses. Try to relax.” I whimper through the rest of the medication. My previous fights now have me feeling the ful

“I explained that my knowledge is minimal at best. I’ve had no relationship, no personal interaction with you since being promoted to lead doctor of the medical wing, but that didn’t prevent me from noticing the different, painfully different life you lived considering you’re the alpha’s son. The first time I met you was when Rebecca claimed that you raped her until she was pregnant. I think you were seventeen or eighteen. I had only started in that position about a year before. I noticed immediately when speaking to her that she was fabricating the story. It made me wonder about her motive behind reporting you. Of course there was no mistaking what was happening in Alpha's office. Everyday you were dragged to his office protesting your innocence. It only took me three days to figure out the timing and I started listening by the door. When he gave me access to big brother he wanted me to participate in the investigation involving the assaults and rapes of other pack members. He fel

(Jon Jenkins POV)It’s been a month since Jamison returned to Red Fang from the White Ridge pack. Alpha Redmen hasn’t approached Jamie about the next run so he’s been training with me, both as a warrior and a carpenter. When he’s not busy with training he’s looking for Cole. We’re all worried sick as we haven’t seen or heard from him since Jamie left him after his seizure. I’ve tried to link with him several times. I was shocked when I actually managed to connect with him two weeks ago. Unfortunately further attempts with the link have resulted in him pushing me away. At least he’s alive. It’s truly my only solace. “Hey, dad.” Jamie comes down the stairs into the kitchen. I open my arms wide and he immediately accepts my embrace. We’ve been doing it a lot more recently, holding each other tightly. I’ve taken care of Jamie as my own since I found his mother, my fated mate, sixteen years ago. He was only five. I had found her a year before I transferred into Alpha Redmen’s pack. I wa

“He stumbled upon several male prospects kidnapping and assaulting a female prospect who was in heat. He tracked them down to some cabins that were created when the pack was at war with rogues who were testing the validity of the pack’s strength. Cameras are not in all the cabins but the one they used happened to have one. Alpha Black used the footage to figure out who the kidnappers were and which one struck Cole. I think he said it appeared to be a baseball bat. Everyone except Cole, my mate and I got sent home about two weeks later.” “So the run was completely canceled? For what?” “All hell broke loose. Even though Cole’s intervention in the cabin allowed the girl to get away, after they broke his arm, two of the three kidnappers chased after her. Three or four different males went crazy from the smell of her in heat and they all attacked and actually raped her. Cole intervened again which resulted in a brawl involving half the prospects that were still there. Alpha Black put eve

Jamie is in tears by the time he finishes telling Demetri of this odd connection. “I’m sorry you experienced that. Has it ever happened before or after that one time?” “No sir. Dad and I have tried to link with him since it happened but he simply pushes it away. His room is locked up, which is unusual considering the kids that use it as a sanctuary. I have no way of verifying where he is but based on what I felt Kristoph wasn’t simply hitting him, he was using an object to break him.” I hurry to Jamie’s side as he sobs. He hasn’t been able to speak of what happened since he woke up. I take the phone from his hand and place it gently beside us before pulling him into a long hug. His body shakes with his sobs as I remain speechless with what he’s revealed. “I’m sorry Jamie.” Alpha Black responds quietly. “Do either of you have any information on Cole at all?” He asks with great hesitation. “I was able to speak with Dr. Carter. He indicated that he didn’t like the situation he was

“Take my hand, bud. We’re going in the other room for a little talk.” I’m surprised when he doesn’t fight my request. He places his hand in mine but the resistance that comes from him not moving stops me from moving forward. “Daddy, it hurts. It hurts and I’m scared. He’s going to do it again until I learn how to lie. Until I tell him what he wants the council to hear.” His tears are silent as they roll down his cheeks. I sigh hard as hearing that he’s hurting bad enough to not want to move is disturbing to say the least. I crouch down in front of him, using my thumbs to wipe his tears. I can’t begin to describe the depths to which my heart has dropped hearing my little boy’s cry for help. “I need to see. I need you to pull down your pants.” He shakes his head side to side as his tears continue to fall. “Please, daddy. It hurts.” He whispers. “May I pick you up?” He looks at me uncertain and confused. “I know. I’m sorry. Normally I just pick you up but if you’re hurting badly

(Demetri’s POV)I wake with a groan as the sunlight peaks its way through the drawn curtains of my hotel room. The emptiness of my bed and the near absolute silence of the room reminds me of how much I dislike this part of being the alpha, of being involved in the fight to change packs like Red Fang. Despite knowing for years that they were a rough group to deal with, I have simply let them live. I can not begin to explain why I refused to stop interacting with them even after Kristoph raped multiple prospects and molested many of my pack’s pups. I guess I knew deep down that I would eventually discover the good ones, the ones who deserve a chance at a better life. My emotions have been all over the place since Cole left. So many unanswered questions and what if’s roll through my head making it difficult to sleep at night. We did everything we could to get him back before he returned to the one place I could not step foot on without risking my life to save him. As much as I want to b
