The brutal whippings had ended after twenty agonizing minutes when the men finally begged for mercy. It seemed their pain was stronger than their pride. Lio had told the wolves that no one was allowed to heal them. He said, and I quote, ‘anyone caught healing them will suffer the same punishment.’ I was stunned by what Lio had done. I wasn’t too sure about the whole thing, but when he spoke to Lio on the phone without yelling, things seemed promising.
