CHAPTER ELEVEN: DOCTOR KING'S OFFICE

Alisa gasped. “Every breath that Johnny takes is numbered and being counted down, Alisa. He’s dying and holding on to life with that dialysis. Last night, I was scared because I didn’t want you to come and meet a dead brother. I did everything you would have done, Alisa. I held his hand and kissed him and begged him to hold on.” “Oh, my God.” “All I need you to do now is to take his life into your hands, and go into Doctor King’s office and tell him you want the contract. Five hundred thousand dollars will be yours after it.” Alisa’s hand covered her mouth. If Stacy was right, then virginity was nothing. She couldn’t afford to lose Johnny. Her heart skipped several beats as she took off, nearly bumping into several sick patients until at last, she was right in front of the doctor’s office. Without thinking, she pushed the door open and the startled doctor’s eyes almost bulged out. “All he wants is a mother for his baby, isn’t it? I’ll do it.” Alisa spilled quickly. Her mind had

CHAPTER TWELVE: GOING ON THE DINNER DATE

“He asked you to meet him at dinner or he asked you on a date?” “He asked me to come with him for dinner.” “Open your eyes, Alisa darling. Jayden Wells likes you. He could have just discussed everything with you there in King’s office, not invited you to dinner.” “But,” Alisa started. “He’s not like Elliott. He does not try to get my attention like Elliott does, or go out of his way to do things for me like Elliott.” “Observe him at the restaurant. I swear he likes you. In fact, go home and get ready. I will take care of Johnny for you.” Stacy offered. “I want to see him before I go.” They both went back to the ward, where Johnny lay sound asleep. Alisa kissed his forehead, and his eyes instantly came open. “I will be back, Johnny. Please stay strong for me. I will solve this problem for us.” “I know you will, Alisa,” Johnny answered, managing a smile. His words tore at her heart. They carried so much confidence in her. Alisa went back home and picked out her favourite dress,

CHAPTER THIRTEEN: HOWLING TO HER TUNES

Jayden decided letting himself be free with Alisa would not be a bad thing to do at all. “I like how the colours of our clothes match. It’s almost like you read my mind.” “Or you read mine,” Alisa answered, turning to look at him. “I can read your mind, Miss Grant,” Jayden said, beaming a smile. Alisa concluded abrasive Jayden was wherever he went to when the real Jayden Wells was smiling. And she wanted to enjoy him smiling like this. He was gorgeous when he smiled. “Tell me how you would do that.” She grinned and turned to face him again. He cursed himself for not remembering he could not read human minds, only the minds of his fellow wolves, and then an idea popped into his head. Something he had noted mentally when he asked Maria about Alisa the day she fell in the pool at his house. “Think about your favourite place in the world. The place you always want to be in. I’ll tell to you once I’ve read your mind. Now close your eyes.” Alisa shut her eyes, and then Jayden’s atten

CHAPTER FOURTEEN: THE END?

Jayden drove into the parking lot of the Meal Bites, a popular restaurant in Palm Springs City. He parked, turned to Alisa and smiled before turning and opening his car door to get out. He then went to Alisa’s side and opened the door for her, but she was stuck because she did not know how to unbuckle his seatbelt. He bent close to her and in one snap, she was loose. “Come with me, Miss Grant.” He said, offering her his hand. She took it, and once again his hand covered hers and led her into the restaurant. Once inside, everyone seemed to know him—waiters, customers, and all, and she blushed when she caught jealous looks from several women. They got to a table in the corner, and then he pulled out a seat for her. “Are you this chivalrous, Mr Wells?” Alisa asked with a smirk as she sat. “What do you think?” “I wonder if you are doing this just for me.” She said, sitting upright in her seat, her hands resting between her thighs, her eyes on him. Jayden smiled broadly and leaned b

CHAPTER FIFTEEN: THE LUPERCALIA FESTIVAL

He stopped his convertible by a lonely side of the road all of a sudden, after driving leagues away from Alisa’s home at top speed and exhaled deeply. That had turned out to be harder than he thought. She was the first woman in three years to charm him so much, and if he did not leave, he would have forgotten all the cherished memories he shared with Avana. If he had to admit it, it hurt to leave her like he was never there, but it was a necessity. He did not want to forget about Avana and act like she never existed, and it seemed good for Alisa too. She would keep her prized virginity, and complications would never arise from his wolf pack if he had a baby with a human. This emotion was coming at the right time. He needed to morph into his wolf form. He let all the pain he felt on leaving Alisa to envelop him and exaggerated it until it hurt in his chest. He then used his sharp wolf hearing to try to determine if anyone was close by. Once he heard nothing, he jumped out of his

CHAPTER SIXTEEN: THE HUNT

The Lupercalia festival held in Palm Springs City usually started with the Alpha telling the story about the origin of the werewolves. Most times, the Alpha was an extremely good storyteller, and so in the darkness which they could see comfortably in, the wolves formed a large circle around him. He stood in the middle of it as the Alpha, the Betas formed an inner circle, the Lunas a third, ranking between the Betas and the rank below them, the Omegas, the largest group which formed the outermost circle, all seated in their wolf forms. The wolves also differed in size according to rank, with the Alpha being the largest, the Betas following, and the Lunas and Omegas having the same size. The higher a werewolf went through the ranks, the bigger it grew. Werewolves rose through their ranks by performing extraordinary feats, so if an Omega performed a deed considered heroic to the wolf pack, it was agreed to elevate him to be a Beta, which was not something that happened all the while,

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: THE WHITE FUR LUNA

Jayden moved closer to the white fur hidden amongst the many Lunas around him wanting to share in his kill as soon as he chose them. She stood there, unmoving and still yet watching him, her blue eyes steadily locking with his as she flipped her tail gently from side to side, her neck raised high like royalty, almost like she was waiting for him to come and choose her. He had never seen her before, and still yet this beautiful stranger was calling his soul to hers. Other Lunas had done several things to get his attention, had licked and come close to him, and she had done nothing but stand out. He went closer to her and brushed the side of his black fur against her white, enjoying the way the colours of their fur contrasted, black against white, his paws crunching the dried leaves on the ground as the light of the full moon shone on them. He tried to sniff her hind and detect her mood but she growled at him, causing him to move a step backwards. The other Lunas there had seen that

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: MATING

WARNING: CONTAINS EXPLICIT SCENES SUITABLE FOR ADULTS ONLY*************************************************What they felt was an intense desire for each other. “I love you, Avana.” He moaned as he broke the kiss, panting and holding her tight to himself. He felt like he wanted to get into her skin, and even though he could feel her close to him, he still could not feel her enough. His bones were shifting in his body like he was about to morph, but he ignored it. “I love you too, Jayden.” She replied and pulled his face down towards hers. She did not want the kiss to end at all. If possible, she wanted it to last forever. His lips met hers again, and she held his face in her hands, her tongue dancing with his, her hands grabbing his waist and pulling him closer to herself. Feeling his erection against her was giving her a different kind of thrill, a kind of feeling she had never felt all her life. Jayden held her waist with one hand, his lips still on hers and pushed her in the

CHAPTER NINETEEN: AVANA'S FATHER

Jayden shook his wolf head as if to remove all the memories. The Lupercalia festival now barely had any meaning for him anymore, and he was just here because every wolf would be here. He joined the Betas in their sitting rank, still the youngest despite being twenty-seven years of age. Alisa would never replace Avana, he was sure. She had never read his mind or understood everything about him instantly the same way Avana had. She would never see him hunt, or watch him morph into his wolf form, or mate with him the way he wanted. They were from two different worlds that would never meet. He was a wolf and she was human. The full moon had just come out from behind the clouds, but he did not join in the joyful howling that followed. All of it meant nothing to him anymore but rather, the Lupercalia served to remind him of Avana more than anything because it was where he had found her five years before. The Alpha had flagged off the beginning of the hunt, and several wolves were setti

CHAPTER TWENTY: ALISA'S KIDNAP

Alisa had flagged down a taxi that would take her back to the hospital after Jayden left, and as she sat alone in the back seat, she was constantly mopping her eyes with a handkerchief she had with her. She didn’t even understand why Jayden Wells leaving her hurt her so much, but it did. The windows of the taxi were shut, but the air conditioner was on, the taxi man seemingly concentrating on his driving. She was the only passenger, and it afforded her a kind of freedom to let her pain out. Her vision was already blurry, and she could see nothing but blurs of flashing lights of various neon colours that serenaded the nightlife. Something suddenly did not seem right, and the first was how fast the taxi seemed to be going. Alisa wiped her eyes again, and then looked around before it jumped out at her. The taxi driver had driven past the hospital. She reached over and touched him, but he made no move. “You have driven past the hospital, Sir,” Alisa said, her grip on his shoulder get
