#Chapter1I stomped back and forth across the floor of my bedroom, waiting for the taxi to arrive. I can feel the rage rising with each step, and no matter what I do, whether it's counting to ten, taking a deep breath, nothing helps; I can't settle.I thought I had experienced pain before. Everything I have ever endured feels minuscule compared to it. This pain hurts to breathe; my whole body aches. Sometimes, I find it hard to breathe. It feels like someone is squeezing my lungs, then releasing them only enough for me to catch my breath before resuming the torture, like a never-ending, vicious cycle.I collapsed against the wardrobe as I heaved in deep breaths and tried to calm myself down. My eyes began to burn as a low growl slipped out."We can't travel like this, Amaris. If we lose control, it's dangerous," my wolf, Aurora, whined.1"I know, Rory, I'm trying." I groaned, massaging my temples.I drooped my head low and breathed deeply. My eyes were still burning, so I knew I

#Chapter2Flight two six three to Exeter is delayed. Sorry for the inconvenience.'1I grumbled and ran my hand down my face. I need this over with, so I can get back here as soon as possible. The longer time passes, the more agitated I get."I guess your flight too?" Someone chuckled from behind me.I looked cautiously over my shoulder and nodded. A young guy stood behind the table. He had a rucksack slung over his shoulder and was scanning the room.He walked around the table and stopped in front of me. "Do you mind if I sit here? It's a little packed in here." He asked.I smiled and nodded my head, "sure."It'll be nice to have some company while I wait for this damn airplane. He smiled brightly at me while sitting down. He picked up a menu and began to dart his eyes over it."Want another drink?" He offered, gesturing his head towards my drinks, "my treat?"I gave him a small smile and shook my head, "I better not."He nodded his head while taking two bottles of water out

#Chapter3We pulled away from the car park, I admired the scenery as we drove. I have to admit, I have missed this place."How is everyone... back home?" I asked apprehensively. He kept his eyes fixated on the road. I noticed his knuckles turning white. I know this is a hard time for him too. I'm kicking myself for not being here when it happened. I wasn't here for any of them."Everyone is as good as can be." He stated."How's Lucas?" I uttered. He exhaled heavily and shook his head. "He's still angry with me isn't he?" I asked, sadly."Yeah, he's still a little angry." He admitted. "I know, I just hoped he would eventually understand," I hummed."He does understand why you had to leave. He just misses you is all." He disclosed, "You missed some pretty big milestones in his life." He added with a sad smile.I gasped harshly. "I was there when he met his mate, remember?" I huffed, "That was when I also met my mate. Well, one of them." I grumbled.1I held my head in my hands, b

Chapter4

#Chapter4As we neared the pack borders, the nerves kicked in. I haven't seen anyone from home in 3 years and I'm not sure how they're going to react. Especially when I'm expected to be their Alpha. As the border came into view, 4 wolves appeared from the tree line. I didn't recognise any of them but it has been that long since I've seen anyone, they could have different warriors.'I don't recognise any scents, Amaris.'They were all a little smaller than Aurora. She was quite a large wolf, especially for a she-wolf. But I do have Alpha blood in me.The larger wolf shifted, he stood in between the other wolves completely naked. I rolled my eyes but kept in wolf form.Aurora stood taller and padded the ground. The wolves all looked at each other. Before the naked dude spoke, "Shift." He commanded, well-tried. Aurora doesn't respond to commands. A wolf went behind the tree and brought some shorts out for the guy.Aurora cocked her head slightly then sat down. The wolves growled an

#Chapter5Lucas edged towards me and I backed away. "Amaris, it's me. You don't have to be scared." He whispered.I'm not scared of Lucas. I'm scared of Rhydian. I don't know what he's planning. This is how it starts, I meet my mate, everything goes great and then the truth comes out.A special potion made by a witch called Matebane. I was given this potion, which made me believe that another was my mate. It destroyed me last time. It's happened twice before. I'll be damned if I let it happen again.3I will not get sucked in."Lucas, you know what you need to do." Tristan turned his head towards him. Lucas nodded and kneeled in the same position as Tristan. He bowed his head, Rhydian looked at us one by one, confused."You need to show you're no threat," Lucas whispered."But why?" Rhydian asked, puzzled."Amaris's wolf feels threatened. It will be safer for you and Amaris if you just do it." Tristan explained. Rhydian sighed then kneeled. Placing his hand flat against his kne

#Chapter6I woke up with a pounding headache. I kept my eyes shut and groaned. I haven't lost control like that in 2 years. But my goddess, am I paying for it right now. If I lay here and pretend it didn't happen, I don't have to face the mess I have made.A knock on the door interrupted my pretending. I groaned, pulling myself up then glanced around the room. Fuck my life, I've completely destroyed the room. I slowly went down the stairs, careful not to make too much noise. My head can't handle the steps. I halted at the bottom of the stairs and sniffed the air. I caught the scent of my uncle, auntie, Lucas and some familiar scent. I recognised the scent, it's Lucas's mate. I met him vaguely when Lucas found him. Well, let's get this over with.I opened the kitchen door and stood awkwardly in the doorway. They all stared at me, probably trying to decipher what mood I was in. In the past when I have lost control, I never know what mood I'm going to be in when I have gained contr

#Chapter7'We'll be meeting Rhydian and Lucas soon. Make sure you keep calm.' I reminded Aurora. 'I will be. He still could be our true mate.' She claimed. 'You keep calm.' She retorted.'No, I'm not doing this.' I argued. 'If he wasn't our true mate. He would know about the potion and he would be showing signs that he's our mate.' She stressed. I know this is hard for her too. I had to watch my wolf slowly deteriorate when we were tricked. It took her months to get back to normal. This time we need to be extra careful. I headed into the bedroom after my shower, looking for my suitcase. I hope Uncle Tristan left it here. I glanced around the messy room and saw my suitcase in shreds... Along with all my clothes. I sighed and threw my hands up, what am I supposed to do now? I headed downstairs in search of my phone. I know it wasn't in the kitchen, I would have noticed it. Maybe the living room? I went into the living room, I glanced around the room and saw my phone and bag o

#Chapter8Ria backed away, shaking her head. "No, he wouldn't do that." She grumbled. I sighed and ran my fingers threw my hair. "I refuse to believe I've found my mate." I denied. She shrugged but kept quiet. "My dad was murdered by rogues, it was obvious I would turn up and instantly, I've found my mate again." I shrieked. "It's too much of a coincidence." I protested. That is the first time I have said out loud what happened to my dad. I have to admit it feels like a weight has been lifted. "When you put it like that, it does sound a little suspicious" She admitted. I sighed heavily and dragged my hands down my face. "I don't know what I'm going to do," I mumbled against my hands. She pulled my hands away and held them, "What you are not going to do is let it get to you. If it is from the potion again, we just have to careful what you take from people." She declared. I nodded and smiled at her. "Don't let him know, you know." She attested. "That way we could find out one

#Chapter9Rhydian draped his arm over my shoulder and my body ignited. Sparks were flying everywhere, my whole body tingled. Every sense was filled by him. I panicked and tried stepping away, he tightened his arm around me. He didn't seem to be affected or he wasn't paying attention to it.This was the proof I needed. This is the potion. 'No, maybe he doesn't feel it because he hasn't sensed us as his mate.' Aurora said quietly. 'I don't trust him, Rory. I don't trust anyone.'She was pulling at strings now, I know all she wants is her mate. That's all any wolf wants. Especially mine. Selena gaped at us, her eyes danced between black and green, she was fighting her wolf for control. She obviously feels she has some kind of claim on him. Maybe she's his true mate and she doesn't like what he's doing. Well, news flash little wolf, neither do I!Rhydian cleared his throat. I glanced up at him, in shock. "Selena, this is Amaris." He grinned, she looked at him puzzled before sayin

Chapter10

#Chapter10"When will she wake up?" I heard Rhydian whisper. I blinked my eyes a few times then glanced around the room. I was in an office, laid on a sofa."I don't know." Lucas whispered, sighing. I pulled myself up, slowly. I looked down at my clothes, my blood splattered clothes. I gasped and stood up.Rhydian and Lucas spun around to face me as I pulled off the hoodie. "Goddess Amaris!" Lucas shrieked. I pulled my sweatpants down and stepped out of them.I glanced up at them. Rhydian's eyes were wide, his tongue practically hanging out. Lucas had his hands covering his eyes. "I had to get out of those clothes." I said, shivering in disgust."Rhydian, give her your shirt or something, man." Lucas whined. I shook my head at Rhydian, "I don't want your shirt." He pulled his shirt over his head, "Well, you need to wear something." He rolled his eyes, throwing his shirt at me.I caught his shirt then pulled it over my head. It fell midway on my thighs.I had to fight against the
