#Chapter5

Lucas edged towards me and I backed away. "Amaris, it's me. You don't have to be scared." He whispered.

I'm not scared of Lucas. I'm scared of Rhydian. I don't know what he's planning. This is how it starts, I meet my mate, everything goes great and then the truth comes out.

A special potion made by a witch called Matebane. I was given this potion, which made me believe that another was my mate. It destroyed me last time.

It's happened twice before. I'll be damned if I let it happen again.3

I will not get sucked in.

"Lucas, you know what you need to do." Tristan turned his head towards him. Lucas nodded and kneeled in the same position as Tristan. He bowed his head, Rhydian looked at us one by one, confused.

"You need to show you're no threat," Lucas whispered.

"But why?" Rhydian asked, puzzled.

"Amaris's wolf feels threatened. It will be safer for you and Amaris if you just do it." Tristan explained. Rhydian sighed then kneeled. Placing his hand flat against his knee, bowing his head.

I started feeling the tingling sensations of shifting. Having submission from our mate is all Aurora needed. Even though we've gone through this already before, twice. All Aurora wants is her mate.

I fought against it, I'm not ready to face everyone.

'I sense no danger, Amaris.'

"Why isn't she shifting back?" Rhydian asked, quietly. Lucas's eyes began to water, "She's overwhelmed." He whispered.

"Amaris Thorne, stop fighting against your wolf and shift back," Tristan commanded.

I heard my bones snapping and the next thing I knew, I was sat on the floor. I kept my head down, my hair covering my face.

"Why isn't she naked?" Rhydian asked. I kept my eyes shut, afraid that they would be red.

My wolf is kind of special. Not like the kind of white wolf special. We have all heard stories about the white wolves. I'm different.

"It's a long story." Tristan sighed. "Is her room all sorted?" He asked.

"Yes, dad. Her old room." Lucas whispered. I shivered and shook my head. "Don't... don't take me there." I whimpered.

Tristan stood up slowly and motioned for the others to do it. They moved away slightly and began whispering to each other. I'm sure they didn't think it through properly, I mean, I'm a wolf. Hello? Super hearing!

"Why won't she go home?" Rhydian quizzed. Lucas sighed, "She hasn't been back here in 3 years. I don't think she was fully ready to come back. Everything has hit her all at once." He replied, sadly.

"Well, she can have the Alpha suite in the packhouse." Rhydian offered. "I don't think that would be a good idea." Tristan sighed.

"She needs somewhere neutral. Somewhere new." He stated, "Just for now."

They came back over to me and Tristan bent down, "I'm going to pick you up, ok?" Tristan announced. He slid his arm under my legs, another around my waist and held me against him. "We're going to take you somewhere to rest." He whispered, planting a small kiss on my forehead.

I wrapped my arms around Tristan's neck and laid my head on his chest. The familiar scent was calming, but it wasn't masking Rhydian's.

"Can you tell him to go?" I muttered. Tristan glanced down at me and raised his brow. "Who?" He asked.

"The other guy," I whispered. "Please." I whimpered.

Tristan stopped walking and turned to them. "I'm going to take her on my own, I'll see you back at the packhouse." He said.

"But I want to come," Lucas argued. Tristan rolled his eyes, "Not now, Lucas." He sighed.

"Come on, you can go tell Ria and Drew she's here." Rhydian smiled at Lucas. They left and Tristan glanced down at me, "Better?" He smiled.

I inhaled and sighed in relief. Tristan's scent flooded my senses, erasing Rhydian's. I nodded and closed my eyes.  "You're going to have to talk to me, sooner or later." He whispered.

"The latter." I yawned. He nodded and took me to a house I've never seen. He went inside and took me straight upstairs to a bedroom.

The bedroom has a huge four-poster bed in the middle, with two black and white marble tables either side. A painting of a waterfall above the bed, it was beautiful and so relaxing. The walls were a light grey with specks of silver. There was a wardrobe set along the wall beside the bed with a gorgeous marble dressing table. A huge window on the wall opposite the bed, leading outside to a balcony.

"Whose bedroom is this?" I questioned, scanning my eyes around.

He took a deep breath and set me down. "Your dad had this house made for you just before he died." He explained.

My breath hitched and I couldn't breathe. I fell to the floor and screamed. "I should have been here!" I growled. Tristan knelt down in front of me, "Come on sweetheart. Calm down." He tried soothing.

My head snapped up, I glared at him, my eyes were burning and I knew there were red. I knew the symptoms of changing and I didn't have long before it happened.

"You need to get out of here, now!" I growled viscously. He shook his head and stayed put. "Please, Uncle Tristan. I'm losing control." I begged. I haven't lost control like this since I left. But after everything I've been through and everything I've put everyone through, the guilt and hurt are too much.

I growled and shoved at him. He scrambled backwards, stood up and looked down at me.

"I love you, Amaris." He whispered before shutting the door behind him.

I felt the tears running down my face before I blacked out.

If I lay here and pretend it didn't happen, I don't have to face the mess I have made.A knock on the door interrupted my pretending. I groaned, pulling myself up then glanced around the room. Fuck my life, I've completely destroyed the room. I slowly went down the stairs, careful not to make too much noise. My head can't handle the steps. I halted at the bottom of the stairs and sniffed the air. I caught the scent of my uncle, auntie, Lucas and some familiar scent. I recognised the scent, it's Lucas's mate. I met him vaguely when Lucas found him. Well, let's get this over with.I opened the kitchen door and stood awkwardly in the doorway. They all stared at me, probably trying to decipher what mood I was in. In the past when I have lost control, I never know what mood I'm going to be in when I have gained contr

She retorted.'No, I'm not doing this.' I argued. 'If he wasn't our true mate. He would know about the potion and he would be showing signs that he's our mate.' She stressed. I know this is hard for her too. I had to watch my wolf slowly deteriorate when we were tricked. It took her months to get back to normal. This time we need to be extra careful. I headed into the bedroom after my shower, looking for my suitcase. I hope Uncle Tristan left it here. I glanced around the messy room and saw my suitcase in shreds... Along with all my clothes. I sighed and threw my hands up, what am I supposed to do now? I headed downstairs in search of my phone. I know it wasn't in the kitchen, I would have noticed it. Maybe the living room? I went into the living room, I glanced around the room and saw my phone and bag o

I denied. She shrugged but kept quiet. "My dad was murdered by rogues, it was obvious I would turn up and instantly, I've found my mate again." I shrieked. "It's too much of a coincidence." I protested. That is the first time I have said out loud what happened to my dad. I have to admit it feels like a weight has been lifted. "When you put it like that, it does sound a little suspicious" She admitted. I sighed heavily and dragged my hands down my face. If it is from the potion again, we just have to careful what you take from people." She declared. I nodded and smiled at her. "Don't let him know, you know." She attested. I panicked and tried stepping away, he tightened his arm around me. He didn't seem to be affected or he wasn't paying attention to it.This was the proof I needed. This is the potion. 'No, maybe he doesn't feel it because he hasn't sensed us as his mate.' Aurora said quietly. 'I don't trust him, Rory. I don't trust anyone.'She was pulling at strings now, I know all she wants is her mate. That's all any wolf wants. Especially mine. Selena gaped at us, her eyes danced between black and green, she was fighting her wolf for control. She obviously feels she has some kind of claim on him. Maybe she's his true mate and she doesn't like what he's doing. Well, news flash little wolf, neither do I!Rhydian cleared his throat. I glanced up at him, in shock. "Selena, this is Amaris." He grinned, she looked at him puzzled before sayin

I gasped and stood up.Rhydian and Lucas spun around to face me as I pulled off the hoodie. "Goddess Amaris!" Lucas shrieked. I pulled my sweatpants down and stepped out of them.I glanced up at them. Rhydian's eyes were wide, his tongue practically hanging out. Lucas had his hands covering his eyes. "I had to get out of those clothes." I said, shivering in disgust."Rhydian, give her your shirt or something, man." Lucas whined. I shook my head at Rhydian, "I don't want your shirt." #Chapter12I spent the evening yesterday with Lucas and Elijah and it was the best couple of hours I have had in a while. Elijah and Lucas are total opposites, Lucas is always on edge and wants things done here and now unlike Elijah, he's so laid back and has a wicked sense of humour. Their wedding photos were absolutely stunning, Lucas looked so happy. I'm gutted I missed it. I stretched out in bed and groaned. Tristan and Georgie did an amazing job of my bedroom, they replaced pretty much everything. I rolled over and grabbed my phone from the side table. I  unlocked it then promptly screwed my eyes shut as the light blinded me. I let my eyes adjust before I looked properly at it. There was a text from Ria and Lucas. I opened Ria's first...Ria Roo xo - Do you want to have a pamper day ready for tomorrow? xxMe - Um, yeah that'll be... nice. XxRia Roo xo - Well get ready. Maybe I should reveal myself, just take my necklace off and let him sense me. 'Not yet. Find out what he was talking to Lucas about.' Aurora suggested. That is a good idea, not one I was expecting, especially from my wolf who was ready to give Rhydian the benefit of the doubt. "I don't know what you mean," I replied nonchalantly, with my eyes fixed on the wall opposite us. "No one else could get through to you." He exclaimed. "What happens to you? Why do you go all... dark?" He faltered. I sighed and reluctantly rested my head against his chest. I felt him stiffen but quickly relax. "Didn't my dad tell you?" I whispered. I thought he would have done, especially when he gave the Alpha position to him. "No. All your dad said was you were different." He explained, "But that could have meant anything." "I d

My dad was sitting behind his desk with his arms crossed over his chest, with Mum perched on a chair beside him holding his arm. Grandad Leon and Nanna Ayla were behind Mum and each had their hands on her shoulder."No matter what they have to tell us, I’m here, we go through this together." Allie promised. ”We’re stronger than the rogues."They all looked to me with hints of anger and worry all over their faces.“So, what’s wrong?” I questioned as I moved further into the office, and Brody closed the door behind us.“You might want to sit down, sweetheart.” Dad instructed, pointing to the sofas on the other side of the room.I led Brody towards the sofas and made sure he was sat next to me. I showed him which room mine was, and that if he or Callie needed me, they could come to my room.I stood in the middle of my room and dragged in a shaky breath.
