Chapter 21

Lance was just as I remembered him. Tall and imposing, but also with a wide friendly smile. He had gotten wider since I saw him last, wider being more muscular not fatter. I decided it was better not to tell Mike or Zach that we had met up in secret and stayed in contact since whatever happened between our fathers. I knew they would probably not care too much but meeting a guy in secret would raise their hackles a bit and the last thing I needed was them to be suspicious of him given the tension that already existed with our parents. Mike and Zach had thankfully stayed behind, not wanting to be without me it had been a fight; but since I was taking both Christian and Jay as well as many of their pack members, we couldn’t leave Blue Moon vulnerable. As fighters they were more than capable with those that had stayed. I had called ahead and let Lance know when we were close, he was waiting for us on the outskirts of their territory with a few other

Chapter 22

Lance was mistaken if he thought for one second, I would forget about his comment or go easy on him. Going easy on him had never been in the cards, and I knew he would be royally pissed if he thought for one second that was what was going on. He had sidled up to me shortly after breakfast reminding me to meet him mid-afternoon so he could “hand my ass to me.” I had rolled my eyes and uttered a yeah right as I stalked off laughing. Lance had never once put me on my ass, and despite the obvious physical improvements he had made I highly doubted that would change anything. Sure, he had gained more muscle and leaned out a lot but that did not necessarily equate with skill and speed, and I knew those were two areas I had always excelled at. Lance while skilled had never mastered speed, at least not the last time we sparred. Hands in his cargo shorts pockets he

Chapter 23

My head spun as my vision blurred. My body felt like it was on fire, Lance’s hair tickled my ear and my pulse sped up until I thought my internal temperature would cause me to combust. Then it settled and a wave of cool calmness washed through me, everything back to normal and then some. I felt, whole, complete, settled; but why? The pressure on my throat had eased and I hadn’t even noticed I was breathing unlabored. I looked up into a pair of bright blue eyes that were quite confused, and right above them in the mop of brown hair a stark silver streak had appeared. Blinking rapidly, I tried to sit up, only to find myself sinking back down, but caught by something firm, Lance’s arms. I wanted to hit him, throat punch him, to ask him why, but my mouth wouldn’t move and seemed to be made of stone. “What the actual fuck?” I heard Jay

Chapter 24

The hour seemed like an eternity. I showered the dirt and sweat off and got dressed, almost afraid to look in the mirror; but look I did. Where Lance had bitten me there was a small, white, star shaped scar. Well, sort of a scar; more like a mark as it wasn’t raised. It was small, but quite noticeable even as pale as I was it stood out in hard contrast against my skin. I fingered the silver in my hair, I didn’t really mind it much. The silver wasn’t a grey type of silver but rather a pure almost liquid color, flowing through my hair like a molten river; a mark of whatever this was between Lance and I. Heaving a sigh I headed toward Alex’s office, I had really had quite enough surprises lately; and this was the last thing anyone needed. Lance was a good person, and he did not need to be tangled up in whatever bullshit the Earth goddess was abou

Chapter 25

LANCE It really seemed unbelievable that I was some sort of mythical creature from a story; one that was indeed thought to not have existed. Leave it to me to be some obscure thing no one had heard about except of course Xavier. Though, if anyone would know things no one else did it would be him, he had read every book in our library and then some; and was always getting more in. Our library was probably the biggest in the area, with ancient texts, fiction, nonfiction and more; not a place I spent a lot of time as I wasn’t much of a reader. That was mostly because Xavier wanted it that way, and to be honest it wasn’t so bad seeing as we had frequent visitors to it from other packs. I shifted on my feet; I didn’t feel any different at all physically. Internally I felt a low thrum, like m

Chapter 26

What was going on with this chicken? And why was it everywhere? More importantly, how on earth did it get to Lance, and why was he holding the damn chicken? I could have sworn Zach ate it, although I realized he had never said either way as to the beady-eyed chicken’s fate. Worse yet, it had taken up with Lance and he named the thing instead of eating it. “Lance” I yelled, throwing my arms up in self defense from the onslaught of beak, claws and feathers, and with this particular chicken, poo. He was no help, clutching his sides and laughing hysterically. Swatting at the ferocious beast, I was able to dodge her attack, and knock her sideways, straight onto her fluffy ass. “Get your chicken you asshole!” I hollered at him, and to his credit he was finall

Chapter 27

From the Mist lands it was but a few days to get to Red River lands, Jay and Christian’s heads were on constant swivel, as was Lance’s and his Beta, Devyn. Lance had yet to take a Gamma, but Devyn was more than capable of keeping Lance’s man child ass in line in his own way. I liked the Beta well enough; he was typically a bit more reserved than Lance, but that wasn’t saying much. It made for a livelier trek into the Red River territory, and I did feel a bit better with the two additions to our group. We noticed as we got closer to the Red River territory we did not hear as many noises that would indicate a thriving ecosystem, instead all around us was silence; save for the stream we were following. As we crossed the border into Red River from Mist the silence became deafening as all our chatter silenced as we went on high alert, I highly doubted anyone was here but just in case we needed to be careful. I could see the agitatio

Chapter 28

The next day brought full bellies and Allie’s continued survival, much to my chagrin. A good night’s rest and meal had everyone’s spirits up despite the circumstances. The Red River members had gone to make sure they had everything they currently needed, and to say goodbye to their homes for a bit. This was not goodbye forever, but we didn’t know what we would or would not find the next time we returned. Just because it was currently deserted did not mean it always would be. Maybe rogues would settle down here or the members that had fled would come back; and those members we had no idea their number, strength or where their loyalty may lay. It was a chance we would have to take if we decided to make the trek back to obtain more of their belongings. We swung through the Mist lands around midday, stopping for lunch, and giving Lance and Devyn b

Chapter 29

This had taken too much time; it had already been late when we were ambushed; and now as we trudged along the sun had started to rise. The orange and yellow rays breaking through the darkness and illuminating our tired faces. We all looked like hell, who wouldn’t after being up all night? Black smudges danced underneath all our eyes as we approached the jail, having called my parents (who were up at this ungodly hour) we were told to take the wolves to the prison, and they would meet us there. Nick greeted us when we arrived, and then turned a stony glare to the wolves, who were still bound together, each with a rope around their neck. We had tried but they refused to transform into their human forms. Nick gestured for us to follow him, and we did, splitting up the wolves so that they were no more than three to a cell. I heard the footsteps of my parents echoing in the stone hallway, my dad’s solid, sure strides, and the pitter patter of m

Chapter 30

The evening was calm, a bright full moon shining down on us as we headed back to my house, well I guess it was OUR house now. It was a bit small for three people, but for now it would do nicely. Lance had been put up in a sumptuous guest room in the packhouse, and Allie with him thankfully. Zach had been giving her the stare down at my parents, and she had clearly been trying to aggravate him on purpose. This chicken was indeed something else, and I swear Zach would have plucked her feathers and eaten her if he was able to. Shedding my clothes I climbed into bed, sandwiched between Mike and Zach, the comforting sounds of their breathing lulling me to sleep. Both men were racked out already, deep asleep, I had heard from Zach that Mike had also wanted to come but Zach had ordered him to stay back in case of attack. The thought that they both had wanted to be the first to greet us warmed me a bit. They
