Chapter 27

From the Mist lands it was but a few days to get to Red River lands, Jay and Christian’s heads were on constant swivel, as was Lance’s and his Beta, Devyn. Lance had yet to take a Gamma, but Devyn was more than capable of keeping Lance’s man child ass in line in his own way. I liked the Beta well enough; he was typically a bit more reserved than Lance, but that wasn’t saying much. It made for a livelier trek into the Red River territory, and I did feel a bit better with the two additions to our group. We noticed as we got closer to the Red River territory we did not hear as many noises that would indicate a thriving ecosystem, instead all around us was silence; save for the stream we were following. As we crossed the border into Red River from Mist the silence became deafening as all our chatter silenced as we went on high alert, I highly doubted anyone was here but just in case we needed to be careful.
