Chapter 60: Getting A New Friend

-Anastasia- Instead of saving Roman and torturing myself by going back to him, I stayed with Daphne. I did feel a little bad, but I really couldn’t handle those people and listening to them gossiping. I could see Roman was trying to escape so he could join us. But every time he ended one conversation, more wanted to talk to him. I knew I had to go be with him. I was his queen, after all, and I was just about to excuse myself when someone called out to me. “Ana!” Suddenly Jackson came pushing through the enormous crowd and I smiled at him, walking over to him and I surprised him as I hugged him. “What the…” I pulled back and chuckled. I was better at accepting people’s touch if I had initiated it. Jackson was very surprised, though, and just looked at me like I was a stranger. “You’re not Ana,” he said. “Funny!” We both laughed, and I then grabbed his hand and pulled him over to where Daphne was. But when I focused on her again, she had almost paled. “Eh, Daphne, this is my cou

Chapter 61: Catching Him Up

-Roman- I was away from my mates for 30 minutes or something and I had missed so much. I thought she and Daphne had just hit it off and then she had decided to go find something to drink, but it seemed like so much more had happened. Jackson and Daphne were mates! What the hell? Not that I thought Jackson was a bad person, but like he had been protective of his cousin, I was protective of Daphne. “What?” Ana asked. “Don’t you like Jackson?” “I don’t know Jackson that well,” I told her. “But it’s an alpha thing. Daphne is like family to me.” “Isn’t Jackson sort of family to you too?” “Now it is beginning to sound like incest,” I said a little jokingly, and Ana rolled her eyes. “Seriously…” she mumbled and crossed her arms. “No, but I just… know she has been through a lot. Maybe this is a bit too much for her right now,” I said. “Actually, I think it was. She took off.” “She took off?” I scouted through the crowd, hoping to find her, but Ana quickly brought my attention back to

Chapter 62: Feeling Happy

-Anastasia- My uncle and aunt found us a little later in the evening. My aunt let out a happy squeal as she found me and then grabbed my uncle’s hand, running over to us and hugging me hard. “I have missed you so much!” “I have only been out of the house for two weeks,” I told her. “And it has been so quiet!” she told me. I pulled back and looked at her weirdly. I barely made any sounds. I barely talked. I didn’t make messes or threw big house parties. Jackson and his friends were the loud ones, so I did not know what she was talking about. “Quiet?” “Okay, not quiet in that way,” she said and brushed a small strand of hair away from my face. “But I do feel you aren’t there.” “Because there isn’t a dark cloud hanging over the house?” I joked. My aunt rolled her eyes before she focused on Roman and me together. “I see things are going great,” she said as she saw the arm he had around me and the smile on our lips. It was hard to hide how happy we were, and why should we? I didn

Chapter 63: Introduced

-Roman- I loved this. I loved standing here with my mate, laughing with her family, and getting to know her a little better. I was thrilled too she had agreed to a ceremony. It was not that I wanted something big and glorious either, where we invited everyone. I liked the intimate idea, and I liked just declaring my love for her in front of people who mattered. Her aunt wasn’t wrong, though. We would probably have two ceremonies once Jackson had gotten Daphne to accept what she had learned about them. I didn’t blame her for running. She had been through a lot already, and I could understand it made her nervous about finding her mate. But this was also her chance and she shouldn’t miss out on it. “Maybe we could make one big together!” my aunt said. “I am not having my ceremony day with Jackson,” Ana said. “Why not? You’re like siblings.” “It’s my day,” she said before turning to me. “Or ours.” I smiled at her and kissed her on top of the head, feeling the bond between us glowing

Chapter 64: One of Them

-Anastasia- Roman twirled me around and brought me back to him, and I laughed happily. I had forgotten all about why I was even here tonight. I couldn’t think about it because I was so happy. I just felt fantastic. It felt literally like I was flying and that was because of Roman. He made me forget the anger, just like he said he would help me do. I mean, I still had a nagging feeling like there was something I needed to remember, but really I had mostly forgotten about it and just allowed my mate to move me around the dance floor. We continued until the music stopped, and then we clapped together with the rest before we left the dance floor. We did go and get a drink, but then Roman turned to me with heated eyes, and I knew exactly what he was thinking. “So, what do you say?” he asked. “Home?” “Oh, definitely home,” I told him with a big smile. We drank our drinks, but before we could go anywhere, two couples came up to us, wanting to chat, and now this time actually seemed intere

Chapter 65: Stopping Her

-Anastasia- I thought the knife would feel heavy in my hand. I thought I would be sweating and shaking. I was shaking a little, but not from fear. I felt almost excited, as the lycan looked for a bathroom that wasn’t occupied. He tried a few doors as I inched closer and closer. He had not heard me. He was distracted and maybe a little tipsy. I smiled as I moved closer, finally seeing him choose a room. This is it! Go up from him behind! Do it quickly! I was nearing him. He was slowing down a little. It would all work out. I was finally going to be able to avenge my family. Now! Ana! Now! I moved quickly, but just as I had taken a step forward, someone grabbed my arm. My target disappeared into a bathroom, and I looked behind me to see Roman there, looking at me like I had betrayed him or something. “Roman?” He had grabbed the wrist which was attached to the hand that held the knife, and he lifted it, holding it up in front of us so the evidence was clear. “What were you going t

Chapter 66: His

-Roman- It was not really how I had imagined my mate confessing her love for me. Really, I had seen us in bed together again, just enjoying being around each other, loving each other’s bodies, and just having a great day together. Instead, I was in this room with her, holding the very knife she would have used to kill one of the lycans who had taken her family from her, and she was desperate to get it back. I understood that. She had waited so long for revenge. I just hadn’t realized how long or how deeply this went. I hadn’t seen how desperate she was to see the lycans dead. She would gladly be the one to drive a knife through their hearts as long as it meant they would finally be dead. “What?” I asked her. Ana had tears in her eyes and they slowly travelled down her cheeks as she groaned and began to pace in front of me. I just looked at her and heard the lycan outside walk by us and away. At least he was safe from her for now, but he would not feel safe for long. Once I uncovered

Chapter 67: Another Way

-Anastasia- Ronan was still mad. Even after that crazy intense mating and marking, he was still very fucking furious, and I didn’t blame him. I had betrayed him, and I had gone behind his back. Shit… he looked just… so disappointed in me, and even after coming harder than I believed any of us had come before, I could feel that glowing anger going through him. Now that we were connected through his mark, I could really feel it. Like a burning fire going around under my skin. “Shit… Roman…” I said, because the anger almost hurt me. “I need more,” he whispered in my ear. He pulled out and turned me around. He pulled me up, so I balanced on the back of the couch and then he was inside of me again, not taking it slow even if we had already gone hard the first round. Roman just held tightly onto me and the couch as he moved his hips, going deep and hard into me. “Fuck!” he groaned in my ear. “You have no idea how fucking angry I am, and so fucking hungry.” I leaned my head back and moa

Chapter 68: Trust Him

*Warning: Another flashback, can be hard to read for sensitive readers* -Anastasia- “Take her!” I was being handed over to smaller arms, but I still felt their power. It was all very chaotic, and dark. I couldn’t figure out what had happened. One moment we were laughing, and I was running around with the other kids. My brother was standing not far away, joking with his friends. He was so happy. We were all so happy, but it wasn’t long before screams filled the air. I stood frozen in my place as I watched a lycan attack my brother and tear him to pieces. My father roared loudly, going for Dean, hoping to save him, but there was nothing to do. His blood spread over the grass, almost leading a way to me. The lycan had looked up seeing me, but my father had been faster, shooting it in the face, and then running to me, picking me up. “Tif!” My mother came running, and my father handed me over to her. “Run! Just run!” “But…” My father silenced her with a kiss, and then took off befor

Chapter 69: Connecting Again

-Anastasia- “You actually made this?” Roman looked at me shocked, as he tasted the food I had made him. I chuckled. I had gotten up earlier than him today and had decided to make him some breakfast. After everything at the party, despite saying he forgave me, I felt the distance between us, and I knew it was time we fixed that. We hadn’t spoken much, and Roman had barely touched me. I knew he was still just dealing a little with my betrayal and I wanted to give him time, but I missed his touch and I missed us talking. So, after making breakfast, I had gone to wake him up with a few kisses. He had enjoyed that, and I told him to come down and eat. We were in the kitchen, so no one could really disturb us except the ones working there. “I did,” I told him. “I am not a horrible cook, in fact.” I took a bite of my food and smiled at him, and he smiled at me. I could feel through the bond how much he appreciated this. Sometimes it was the small things that mattered more than the grand o
