-Roman- Ana came into my office one morning, now with a smile on her lips. She always woke up with a smile now, and I would very much like to take a lot of credit for that. I believed I was the reason why she was smiling so much. After everything, it seemed she might finally be letting go a little. At least of her anger and hatred, and I had let go of mine. I wasn’t watching her every night now. I was confident she was right beside me and every morning I woke up and found her right there beside me. “Hey,” she said. “Hey.” She walked over to me, and I pulled her down on my lap. She giggled happily and kissed my lips. It felt like heaven. It was really all love and rainbows at the moment. “What are you working on?” she asked. “Thinking.” “Thinking?” “Well, I am trying to find out how we will find some proof so we can put away the lycans who hurt your family.” “I’m guessing a single witness isn’t really enough,” she whispered. I shook my head. “Plus, you were a child, experienc
-Roman- I guided Ana into a faster pace, and I could see the pleasure that swirled around inside of her on her face. Fuck, she looked so good like that. Almost all ruined and so caught up in the pleasure she really didn’t care that I was on the fucking phone at the same time as she was riding me. She placed a hand over her mouth as she began shaking and coming all over me, and I did my best not to groan. “Am I ruining the honeymoon?” “Something like that,” I got out between gritted teeth. My cousin had called. He didn’t let anyone really ignore him. He could be a pain in the ass when he wanted to get into contact with you. Shane laughed though, as he probably was starting to figure out I wasn’t so focused on the conversation, but on my mate riding me. I made sure she continued to move as she came and shook. She just looked so fucking good, that was all I could say. “I’m back.” “Good for you. Don’t fucking call me again,” I said. He just laughed again, not minding he was ruining
-Anastasia- I was excited to really meet the only real relative Roman had. I had dressed up, put myself in a nice black dress with long sleeves, and I had put on some makeup. I let my hair stay down, and I put on some heels. I wasn’t sure if I was doing too much, but I wanted to leave a good impression. Shane was very important to Roman, that I knew. I had gotten ready early though, and went downstairs to get some lunch, when the doorbell suddenly rang. I looked at the door, confused. I didn’t believe his cousin would arrive yet. It was pouring down outside. The doorbell rang again, and I shrugged, going over to the door, and then as soon as I opened it, Daphne stormed inside. “Eh… come in?” “Ah shit, I got caught in the stupid storm!” she said and shrugged off her jacket before she hung it up. I looked at her, confused. “And welcome, please make yourself at home,” I told her jokingly. She turned to me, almost looking a bit apologetic. “Sorry, I really just had to get out of my
-Roman- “I’m sorry… what?” I asked, as Daphne sat in front of me and Helena. “I…” Daphne looked away, looking almost a bit embarrassed. “Engaged?” I asked, shocked. Daphne couldn’t look me in the eye, and I understood why. How could she keep this from me? I knew she needed time away and to just focus on herself after everything, but not telling me she was engaged, I felt was over the top! We were still best friends. I wanted her to be able to tell me these sorts of things, but no, she had kept quiet, and now she couldn’t look me in the eye. “I… thought it made sense,” she explained. “To get engaged to someone you have never met?” I asked her. “Well, I almost married someone who I knew wouldn’t love me!” I looked at her, shocked, and Daphne quickly looked away again, looking guilty. “Sorry… It’s not… we are past that.” “Or are we?” I asked. Ana looked between us, worried, and I was not sure what she was thinking at that moment, but I could understand if it was all a bit shoc
-Anastasia- Roman still had some work to do, so after he had eaten with us, he went and continued with that. I stayed with Daphne and we talked a little about everything. She told me about her family and what other friends she had. No one was real except Roman. The rest were really for the looks of it. They used each other. Daphne hated the role she had to play, but she didn’t have much choice. She came from a very traditional and powerful family, and playing those games was part of her role. She had to seem proper and perfect. I was glad I didn’t have the same expectations put on me. My family didn’t care much about being proper and perfect. It was about feeling good about yourself and enjoy life. I told Daphne that. “Maybe we should switch families,” she suggested. “Oh, Goddess no! You’re not getting mine!” She and I chuckled, and we smiled at each other. I had not had many friends, but it already felt like Daphne and I were finding a friend in each other. “How is it going betwe
*There is another flashback in this chapter* -Anastasia- A servant came to get me and Daphne, telling us dinner was ready, and that Shane had arrived. Roman and Shane were already in the dining room, waiting for us, and Daphne and I quickly left our seats to go join them. We were just chatting with each other as we walked down the hallways until we reached the dining room. The doors stood wide open, and we quickly entered, but then as we did, something hit me… a scent… a scent that was far too familiar. I followed the source and locked eyes with a lycan further away, who didn’t share much resemblance with Roman, but that was not why he seemed familiar to me. My heart began to beat faster, and suddenly a violent pain went through my head, before the world turned black. The fire burned me, hurting me badly. I screamed and screamed, rolling around on the ground, trying to get the flames to burn out. Eventually they did, but I could still hear my skin sizzling. I tried sitting up, but I
-Roman- I had seen my mate lose all strength in her body and just fall to the floor. I hurried over to her, feeling so scared. I had not seen such a reaction in her before. She had just looked at me and Shane and then she had lost all strength. I gently grabbed her and held her in my arms. She was already sweaty and growing so pale. I really didn’t like it, but I knew it really was just another one of her episodes, and all I could do was wait and see what would happen. I called out her name gently, feeling so worried. I didn’t like it. I hated when this happened to her, but it wasn’t long then she was opening her eyes a little. I kept calling out to her, and I stroked her warm cheek. Ana then surprised me as she sat up, like she hadn’t just experienced a violent episode and she looked around a bit like she wasn’t sure what was happening. Daphne and I helped her stand, and I was sure Ana just wanted to go lie down and rest. It always was hard on her when these things happened to her. S
-Roman- “Your mate has lost her mind!” Daphne said as she charged into the kitchen through the swing doors, almost knocking into the walls behind them. “I think so too.” “Then do something!” Daphne turned to me, and I sighed, running a hand down my face. I didn’t know what to do. I had never seen Ana like this. She was always much more reserved. “I think it’s her episode,” I told Daphne. “I think it did something to her.” “Then take her to a doctor! Like I told you!” Daphne had placed a hand on the kitchen island and was resting against it. I sighed and leaned my back against it too, as I crossed my arms. “She is making us all super uncomfortable!” “I know…” “And have you seen the way she looks at Shane? I mean, I don’t think she has blinked once,” Daphne said. “I saw it…” “Then do something!” she said. “I can’t sit in that room again if it continues. You can cut the tension with a knife. And poor Shane! I mean, does she not like him or something?” “I don’t know,” I told h
