Chapter 41: Chains of Willpower

ELVA'S POV"Hold it right there!" I heard a voice command from the top of a tree as I walked through the woods.I stopped just as the voice had ordered and raised my hands in surrender. But I wasn't scared for a moment. I was rather curious as to what was going to happen next. The next moment, someone landed behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist, blowing a warm breeze behind my ear."Are you lost, my love?" I heard from the person."Darian!" I gasped, turning around quickly and claiming his lips with a fiery kiss.He kissed back so intimately and I almost felt aroused before he suddenly cut it."Did you miss me?" He asked me."Of course. I was worried I wouldn't find you," I cried."I told you I'd find you," he reminded me, touching my cheeks fondly, "brighten up your face, we have a long way to go.""Where are we going?" I asked him."I have friends. Alpha Raymond of the Fire-fang pack will accommodate us," he said to me.I managed a smile and said, "Thank you so much, Darian

Chapter 42: The Jewel of the goddess

ELVA’S POV“You can’t command me!” My wolf snarled, trying to tear off the chains, but I increased the binding power of the chains.“Let’s know who’s the stronger woman here,” I challenged.“Idiot! I’m not a female wolf!” I heard my wolf say, “I’m a male. Can’t you tell?”It was then that I observed the male reproductive organ beneath his belly.“Fuck!” I growled, “How’s that possible? I have already thought of a female name to give you.”“I have a name already and I’ll choose to go by my name,” the wolf replied, scratching his claws on the floor before resting on his belly. His growl softened, “I am the Silver King’s wolf. He passed me down to you before he died.”“What? I thought it was impossible for one to separate themselves from their wolves,” I scratched my head.“The Silver King was like no other,” said my wolf, “ In both wisdom and power, none could defeat him. He was called the jewel of the goddess. And although he had so many enemies, he stood at the pinnacle of power, even

Chapter 43: The Nomads

DARIAN’S POVI woke up, smiling as I remembered how Elva and I had taken our bath last night, made love, and slept off last night. The way she laid her head on my chest, caressing my jaws and telling me that she needed nothing else as long as she had me. It was just so blissful that I found myself dreaming about it when I slept off.I was so refreshed after that body-relaxing bath and sensual makeout last night. I turned to my right to kiss Elva but suddenly she wasn’t there. A wave of surprise flushed through me. She had slept by my right last night. Where had she gone now? This was no place she knew, so why the quick feet?Sitting up, I decided to go and look for Elva. But immediately I sat up, I looked in front of me and saw a group of warriors all on their feet, holding weapons. One of them who seemed to be their leader came nearer and spoke to me.“Don’t be afraid, fellow,” his voice came in a warm manner, “we mean no harm.”“Where is Elva?” I growled at him. I wasn’t going to fa

Chapter 44: The Squirrel

DARIAN'S POVWe had four carts, each driven by two horses. One of the carts contained food items and kitchen utensils. The other contained tents and some other personal belongings. The other two were just for the women and children to take shelter from the weather as we traveled. We left at dawn, following a path that'd lead us out of the woods and into a grassland. The grassland used to be a bloody battlefield when I was little. But war had reduced in the werewolf world now, compared to the days when my late father was in his prime. Back then, he always returned with blood-bathed claws and weapons.Soon, we were out of the woods. Taking the grassland we moved faster since there were nothing like twigs or rocks to make our movement rough. And for the more reason, the grassland was too exposing. We needed to go faster before the enemies would eventually sight us.Elva decided to walk on foot with me, taking that as part of training. In packs, there were only a handful of female warrior

Chapter 45: An Alert for Danger

ELVA'S POVJacqueline and Darian's encounter yesterday was the most confusing thing I had seen. I just couldn't understand why he'd keep telling me that nothing had transpired between the two of them.First, the pack split into two groups for bathing. The males went to their section and the female went to theirs. So, what could have taken both of them to coincidentally meet at another pool that no one else knew about? Did they also coincidentally become naked together? I just couldn't make any sense of all the explanations he gave me.As I woke up the next morning, the first face I met was Jacqueline's. She was having a conversation with Dreyfus, Japhet's second in command. As I walked past them, my eyes clashed with hers and the memories of the previous day came rolling back in. I averted my gaze quickly and continued to where I was going.I stumbled into Darian on the way as he was returning from fishing with some other werewolves."Hey," he said sheepishly, scratching the back of h

Chapter 46: Absolute Determination

DARIAN'S POV"There's trouble," Japhet said as I sat we him discussing before a sudden sound rang from the bushes. He stood up immediately, "Brace up for battle!"I was startled. What was happening? The thought of Elva flashed in my head. Japhet had told me that he had sent Elva and Jacqueline to the bush to fetch some firewood."Shit!"The first thing I did was hurry up and take Japhet to a safe place. Even though he was the leader of the pack, he didn't look like a fighter. I'd know a fighter from a single glance."Let me fight!" He said."Stay here! I'll handle them!" I told him and ran off to the soon-to-be battlefield. Our women and children were being rushed to a safe place by some of the warriors. But the few who remained were commanded by Dreyfus to engage in combat. The next moment, Elva and Jacqueline emerged from the bush, running very fast.Immediately Jacqueline got to us, she aligned with the soldiers and took battle formation. Elva rushed to my side immediately."We're

Chapter 47: The Curse of the Echoing Mountain

ELVA'S POVThe next morning, I woke up to the sound of the echoing mountain. Its ethereal melody traveled throughout the landscape. Everyone else was already awake, gazing toward the mountain just some meters ahead of us.We started to dismantle the tents and pack every other thing we had come with. We needed to cross the mountain as quickly as possible because it was the main abode of the mountain wolves. But whenever the mountain had begun singing, they don't attack the passers-by.Quickly, everyone got into their carts and the horses rode off, heading for the mountain. It was very captivating — the sound from the mountain.Myth had it that the daughter of the first mountain wolf was inside the mountain, singing. She had died at a little age. And when she died, she was singing a soft melody, even after her death. There were only a few believable myths I knew, and this wasn't among them. But the other myth about the mountain was what I desperately wanted to know.As we rode past the

Chapter 48: A Half-Baked Narration

ELVA'S POV"I still wonder how you've been fighting with such a poor grip of your sword," I heard Darian yell at Jacqueline as I dragged my feet to the training field. The last night had been one bad dream after the other. Five nightmares. It had even gotten to the extent that I decided not to sleep again till the next morning. But while keeping awake, I slumbered off again and had the last nightmare.Remembering that it was the reason why I had woken up this late made my veins pop. But the most annoying thing was that I couldn't clearly recall all those nightmares. If someone asked for a narration of my nightmares, I would only be able to give a half-baked narration.I got to the battlefield. Jacqueline was already sweating despite the fact that it was still morning. It seemed her screams were what woke me up from sleep. Her training attire was very beautiful. A skimpy brown shirt that didn't reach her navel. Then she wore what seemed like an underwear that lapped around her buttocks

Chapter 49: The Blackwood Pack

DARIAN'S POVWe finally arrived at the place where Japhet intended for the nomad pack to settle. However, it was a place I knew. And it didn't take long before I recognized the landscape. The big Oak trees, the raffia palms where mynahs made their nests using the tree leaves. It was definitely where I thought it was. There were meant to be two werewolf packs living nearby. I had been to that place once with my father when I was younger.I walked up to Japhet where he was instructing some warriors on where to set up our tents for tonight.I waited for him to end his discussion with them. The moment he turned, he met standing and waiting for him."Darian," he said my name."Do you really own this place?" I asked him straight out."I never said I did," he answered with a twisted look on his face. "Why?""I think I've been here before," I told him, walking up to him and then pointing at one of the Oak trees, "I remember the whole landscape.""Well, I've been here before as well, and that'

Chapter 50: The Brave Intruder

DARIAN'S POVAshley returned some minutes later. Her father was with her. It seemed he had rounded up with the work he was doing back then."Please forgive me, young men," he said to us, "I'm such an ethical man that I don't abandon someone else work just so I can quickly grab a new one.""I understand," Japhet said with a tight-lipped smile. "I respect that."Japhet and Mr. Cortgard began to discuss the construction plans and the price as well. I didn't have much to contribute to the conversation, so I decided to go out for some fresh air."Follow him, Ashley," said Mr. Cortgard to his daughter, "just don't forget to come to call me whenever I have an appointment.""Okay, Dad," she said and gracefully marched out with me.We had gone a few meters away from the bar when I decided to ask her about the book she had with her.The moment I asked her, she clutched it fast to her chest as if some precious jewel was inside there. Then she answered me, "It's just my father's appointment book.
