Chapter Two

Beverly, assisted by the woman, struggled to her feet and they both moved en route to the woman’s house. The woman had removed her headscarf and wrapped it around the wound. It didn’t stop the blood from gushing out, but she just had to manage it until they get home.When they arrived at a stone's throw to the doorstep, she called out to her house help who came running down towards them.“Go get the first aid box ready,” she said to her house help, Alice“Yes Madam Pat,” Alice replied and ran back upstairs. She went to retrieve the first aid box from where it was kept, she dusted it and brought it out for easy reach. She then ran down the stairs again to assist the two of them who she met halfway down the stairs. They were not in motion this time. What the hell is that smell?Well, it isn't a bad one, mused the slowly waking Miller, whose eyelids were still too heavy to lift. Swaying from left to right on the bed in discomfort, he hadn’t moved too much when his movement was restricted by what felt like iron. Something was not right here. He could feel it.Forcing a droopy eye open, he suddenly realized that the silky sheets beneath him were not his sheets. With a start, he sat up and cursed as his head ached terribly. He felt other body pains too. Nope, he wasn’t in his room. He wasn’t even in his house. Scanning his surrounding, he noticed it was daybreak. Many years ago, peace reigned in Omaha kingdom and it went on like that for several years. This was the time when George Ortiz was the king on the throne. He was like a blessing to the people and things seemed to go well in the village. At some point, Omaha started attaining some level of development gradually such that after some time, the description, village, was not well befitting for Omaha, but it was still called a village just like the other neighboring ones.Other neighboring kingdoms and even some cities that have heard of Omaha envied its progress and peace. It is a busy morning for the people of Omaha. Beverly had waited for days to see if anything was going to change. She wondered if she was ever going to set her eyes on her dad again. Now that days had rolled into weeks and nothing has changed, her optimism began to flag gradually. In such a short period, she had formed a great bond with Madam Pat and Alice and they had become fond of her too. She's being treated like family. Even though she hasn't forgotten about her father, all the love that's being showered on her barely gave her a chance to set herself into depression. One of the activities that she engaged herself in the most is hunting. This was always fun to her as she had been doing this right from when she was small. It was 5:30 in the morning and it had been a long night for the people of Omaha. This has been the situation recently as the people are still trying hard to adjust to the changes that engulfed the kingdom. Before now, when King George was still on the throne and things were still going well in Omaha, children were seen playing around their houses into the early nights and even when it was getting into late night, they still gathered around to tell or listen to night tales and barely anybody was terrified of the dark. The evening breeze was always soothing and refreshing to the body and most times, the elderly ones would come out to bask in it. Most people end up sleeping late and consequently enjoy their night's sleep. Only the nights appeared a bit short to them since they slept late. Rogers embarked on a journey to carry out the mission that Rico sent him. Normally, It is supposed to be a long journey owing to the distance from his home to his supposed destination, but an extraordinary speed was among the features that most werewolves possess. Even though he made use of one of the cars that Rico had given him for the mission, he set it on the highest speed that normal humans wouldn't dare as they wouldn't be able to control it.
