She was just in there. Staring at the empty ceiling, feeling the world as it goes around her. In the warm glow of the lamp, her fears won't fade away. Just like all her other nights, this one is not different. She still cannot sleep no matter how she shut her eyes. Her brain is a train-wreck, nudging her to open her eyes and be alert of something not existing. And she complied. Her eyes darted from one dark corner to the next until it had scanned 360 over her tiny bedroom, at last it landed on her Stitch alarm clock, the long hand silently pointing to twelve. With a sigh, she jerked up, opened the drawer of her bedside table and groped for a tiny bottle -her saving grace. She took one of its pearlescent pills and swallowed it. She went back to bed and made it a point to look at her alarm clock and watch its little hand move second to second until her eyes drooped on their own, her brain numb and she gratefully succumbed to sleep. "Where is she? What happened?!?" Martin, Kara's father demanded, shaking Kendra off. He has been looking for the children who were playing in the rest house's yard. After what seems to be forever, Kendra emerged from the woods, crying. "Martin, be careful with the child. You're hurting her!" Klarisse tore Kendra away from Martin's heavy grip. Her face agonized. "We were just playing hide and seek when she got tired of it." Kendra explained in between her sobs, wiping her tears and mucus. "She asked me to go exploring in the woods, I told her no because Daddy won't be happy if we go there." she added, still crying. "Then we came near an old wall. "You?!" It was Kara's voiceless question, she never left her eye contact with this man. It was the same mysterious man whom she thought was a gruesome monster at school and had eventually saved her from Kendra. Now, here he is and saved her again in an accident that could have cost her life. "Are you a stalker?" It wasn't the question she was supposed to ask but it came up anyway. The man did not give up a hint of emotion this time, unlike their encounter at school. He gently put her back on her feet as he remained silent. "Who are you? Why are you here? Are you following me?!" Kara's tirade of questions. But the man just turned his back to her, preparing to walk away. She instantly grabbed his steel-hard, muscular arm. He looked at her with such intensity that made the heat creep to her cheeks. Good thing it was dim and whether she is blushing or not, it is not obvious.
