31. One last time

Dawn- What just happened? I turned around and saw eyes gaping at me, a wave of embarrassment washed over me, what did I just face? My pride doesn’t allow me to find myself in such bizarre situations, yet here I am, unable to deny the reality of it. “Uh, h---he’s just---just hurting.” Mr. Kim with panic stalked upstairs, his hands tightly gripped around the handrail with eyes fluttering due to nervousness. He looked at me, standing numb to all the voices, gawking at the door that was just inches away from my face. My hand rose up reaching to my chest and I felt my heart beating rapidly, “Dawn-ssi, let’s go to your room.” His hand held mine forcing me to walk away from my dreads, from the man who’s drowning inside in pain. “Have a seat.” He opened the door to my room however, nothing seemed familiar. I have lost the sense of clarification and resonance among feelings of desires and pain. I fear the future I'm yet to see than the past I have lived. “Do you need some water?” His eyes

32. But he's here

Dawn- “Your silence is too loud, it’s disturbing me.” I slammed the jar on the table, my eyes matching Kai’s as he looked up. Until now, he successfully managed to avoid me however, I'm done with this child play. “We’re doing nothing, mind your own business.” He growled. “Exactly, do something. For how long are you going to prove yourself useless?” I retorted, “I’ve had enough, Mr. Eldorado.” I crossed my arms and Mr. Kim sprung up from his chair. Since that day, they are avoiding me like I'm a plague of some sort. The more I try to process, the more I fail. I thought Kai will at least try to talk but he’s doing every possible thing to shove me out of his life. I don’t know what my fault is, I don’t know why I'm suffering but my patience is at its limit. Kai pushed the chair back, his gaze fixated at Mr. Kim and none of us broke the silence. Kai’s hand lifted up to reach his tie and I stopped him midway, allowing myself to do it. I touched his collar, gawking at him but he said n

33. Let me in

Kai- “Are you blushing?” My body etched as I heard a voice. I felt my legs walking swiftly to close the distance between them and I. What are they doing here at this time? “Let me have a look.” Kim lifted her chin and she let him. She fucking let him. “Ohmygod, you totally are.” I clenched my fist and stood behind them. “Dawn, you are blushing because of this movie date?” My jaw dropped. Movie date? “Movie date?” Dawn retorted letting my waning patience halt. “What do you think you’re doing?” My pupil dilated and they jumped off radiating emotions of fear by getting caught, doing something atrocious, damn atrocious. “Talking.” Dawn crossed her arms shielding a non-fuckboy with her tiny frame and my jaw tightened until the very end. Why is she always laughing with him and fighting with me? Has she ever told him she hates him? Or does she feel that emotion only in my presence? “Watching movie.” Kim replied and I tried to move back gulping my ire down, letting it settle not wanti

34. Unfiltered hate

“She’s dead, my father killed her.” He leered, the blue in his eyes sparkled from reminiscence of ugly past, a past he wanted to keep hidden, hidden because he was hurting. My body froze at my place, Gerard, if you want our relations to improve even a bit, let go of her. What in the world did he go through? What in the world did his father made him go through? “I saw her lying on the ground, unconscious, dyspneic… dead.” He lifted his head from the ground to look at me sitting all stiffened like a rock, he was everything I wasn’t, calm and collected. “W---why.” I panted, my eyes flapped from disbelief and my hand rose up to my heart, focusing on my erratic breathing, useless thoughts that might end up hurting him. “Why?” He snorted, “I wish I knew.” He pressed his temples sighing loudly, the way his lips curled upwards, concealing his pain behind a façade of neutrality, plunged me into an abyss of emotions. “I opened the door and she was there, stationary and lifeless. And when

35. Uncertain Theories

Kai- “Why are you c---crying?” I heard a voice, innocent, fragile and exceptionally loud for someone who preferred quiet. My head rose up from my knees and I wiped my tears away hastily. “Did you lose your mother too?” My breathing faltered allowing my red-rimmed eyes to meet her glossy storms of ache, and soon did I realize, she was crying too. A tiny girl, drowning in the sorrows of loss and pain. She sat next to me carelessly, sniffling like I’d provide her with comfort or a handkerchief at the very least. My leg kept on shaking, growing gruesome of her bawling, adding ache to my already swollen heart. As I watched her tears become one with the concrete, I couldn’t help but wish for her to stop with this nonsense. And the louder she got, the more my resistance grew. I found myself wanting to silence her cries, as they grated against my own inner turmoil. My own tears faded as I gawked at her with amusement, “where’s your home kid? It’s unsafe outside.” I confronted cracking

36. Sunset

“Get up, we’re going somewhere?” An irritating voice broke me from my peaceful slumber, my body jostled before getting up from the couch and I turned my head around. “Where?” I said, lacking certainty and interest, “I don’t want to go anywhere.” My mind is wandering in a different universe from his, my soul needs peace that he doesn’t provide me with, “can you just let me be?” “I wasn’t asking, get up.” Clasping his fingers with mine, he curled up the corner of his lips threatening to judder away a smile, “we have a lot to do.” We? As in, him and I? His blue eyes radiated tranquility coaxing me to move forward, my steps involuntarily began moving until he opened the door for me, a gentle smile lurking around my lips and I tried to gulp it down, but to no avail. “I didn’t know you were a gentleman.” Teasing him, I chuckled atrociously, his body thumped next to mine causing my heart to skip a beat. “Man yes, gentle no!” I found myself drowning in the waves of his scent and voice a

37. Home

Kai-She stood before me in an ocean blue dress, a dress that hugged her from places I couldn’t even touch, every curve of her body became too discernable.A few strands of her hair falling on her face, as she tried to tuck them behind her ear, allowing me to see her face, yet they remained obscured. Her heel met the ground echoing through the mirrors, ringing in my ears like a song at its crescendo. My eyes flickered, forcing me to look away however I couldn’t tear my eyes away, and choked on the air I breathed. She spun on her heel angelically, and her hair swirled in the air like an ethereal dance. Gradually, a radiant smile illuminated her face, so bright that my jaw almost dropped in awe. “This dress is so beautiful,” no you are. “I love it,” she smiled and stood before the mirror, her chuckle made my lips curl up unintentionally.“It is indeed.” The staff reciprocated with a loud squeal, “it fits you like a glove,” I kept on staring at her, disregarding their ludicrous giggles

38. Accept

Kai-I fucked up, I fucked up big time. The safest place I thought was this damned dashboard? I mean how likely it is for her to rummage through my car when she rarely travels with me?After dropping her at home, I didn’t wait another second and drove off, I thought I’d cancel all the meetings but didn’t expect for things to go this wrong.“Mr. Benjamin will be at the firm in twenty minutes.” Throwing another tantrum, Kim muttered through the speakerphone.“We need to talk,” I sighed loudly, “stop acting like a kid.” And rose my voice unintentionally.“I’ll be seeing you at the company sir.” He disconnected the call, he is starting to get under my skin now. Must he talk to her like that and make me jealous?I paused for a while, processing the words that were coming out of my mouth. Did I just say jealous? I did not, know? Why would I be jealous of her? It’s just--- it’s just that… it---, I need a better explanation than this, don’t I?My steps didn’t falter as I entered Gravity Enter

39. And I...

Kai-“Are you two fighting?” Kim and I turned around as we heard a voice, Dawn was walking in our direction with careful steps since, Kim had made it too evident, his anger.“Not yet, but will when he starts talking to me.” I crossed my legs to charade my frustration.“Stop acting so immature.” I’d scoff at Dawn’s comment if I wasn’t sulking. Look who’s saying. Of all people, her?“Says who?” Kim’s snort reached my ears and I turned my head to look at him, “I’d be glad if he was immature, but he’s just plain stupid.”“I’m immature?” My loud gasp justified the disbelief I felt by hearing his words.“If not you then who?” Now, he’s purely trying to get under my skin.“Who’s sulking over a mere misunderstanding?”“Misunderstanding?” He widened his eyes, turning his face to look at me, he said, “you’re naming your irrational and unethical claims as misunderstanding?”“Huh? Claims?” I shouted, “Thoughts, I’d prefer, I thought---”“Who fucking cares, you doubted my intentions, my honesty, m

40. Are you sure?

Dawn- “Here,” he handed over the ring to me, a smile on his face, his familiar face, “you haven’t changed a bit.” He whispered under his breath, too faint for me to hear it clearly. “Mr. Lucas,” Banner said and I moved a step back abruptly, “she’s Ms. Dawn,” he explained, “Mr. Eldorado’s---” “Fiancé,” I said wearing the ring in my right hand’s third finger. “Wife,” Kai abruptly charged forward, placing his hand on my waist, he pulled me closer, “she’s Dawn Amber McCoy, soon to be Eldorado.” He chuckled, making his jealousy too obvious, even a blind person could sense it. “Dawn Eldorado?” Lucas chuckled, “too bad, it doesn’t fit right.” And started walking inside. I looked at Kai gritting his jaw, the color of his face had turned pale, I sometimes wonder, aren’t we too alike? Lucas kept on staring at me keenly, his eyes spoke a different language, a language that made me nervous. My life earlier wasn’t smooth but his presence made it come to a screeching halt. “Aren’t you going
