"What? No," Lino said, staring at her like she was spewing absolute nonsense. This only served to infuriate Cassy even more and she growled. What did he think? That she could not take care of herself or walk to the infirmary with her legs? She would prove him wrong. "Put me down. Now. I do not wish to go there with you. I don't want to speak to you and neither do I want you to touch me. If you cannot listen to me when I say I'm fine then let me down." The people who walked past them stared at the couple with amused expressions, wondering what was happening. It was not her fault that she had been gifted with the most infuriating man that ever lived. She understood that he was worried about her and that he wanted her arms fixed as soon as possible, but she really was fine. The pain was a lot to bear but she knew that as soon the physician got it set, the healing process would begin. She was fine. "You are not. You should have listened when I requested for the

Gerald nodded, hurrying over to the other side to get his tools. "It will take only a few minutes. Shall I give her an anaesthetic..for the pain?" Cassy sighed. "I am right here. You may ask me. I do not need to be knocked out before getting treated," she said dryly, earning a frown from Lino. She glared right back. Now the physician was treated her like a child too. Just great. "Pain killers should be fine," Lino said on her behalf and the physician hurried over to where Cassy lay on the oddly comfortable bed, though the place reeked of herbs and brewed plants. "Do open your mouth, Luna," he said, holding a spoon of something that smelled acrid. She gagged, covering her nose. "By the Goddess, what is that?" "Let me have it," Lino sighed, taking the spoon from the physician. His voice dropped low as he leaned closer. "Had I know you would be this annoying on a normal day, I would have mated you sooner." Cassy blinked. "What?" She had not expecte

Cassy looked away, unable to meet her father's gaze, but she knew he was crying as much as she was. And she couldn't bear it. Lino's hand slid out of hers and he slipped out of the room quietly, giving her privacy with her parents, now that he knew she was alright. Her father pulled her into his warm embrace. "I am so sorry, Cassy," he said, patting her hair down softly. Cassy sobbed, wrapping her arms around her father's torso. It had been a while. A long long time since she had been held by her father. She had forgotten what his scent was. Wood, smoke and musk. She breathed in deeply, letting all of the pain go as his warmth seeped into her, reminding her of what it had been like before Lino. The life she had lived. Though they had not been rich, though they had been ordinary Omegas, they had been happy and content. But she was happy she met Lino. That part of her life had always felt like it had something missing. She had found it and she would protect it.

The hybrid set out the next day with a horse and a change of clothes. The Luna had pushed a bag of food and fruits into his hands, regardless of how much he had declined her request to take it. She was quite strong willed and adamant, and he had spied her mate watching with pride as she won in their mini squabble on taking the food. He had never quite met anyone like her...or the Alpha. Too nice, he would think, but wolves were generally warm and trusting. The Head Alpha and Head Luna were no different. Heading to their lands, he had expected hostility from the Alpha and possibly an arrow to his head, but they gad merely been wary for a couple of minutes, and the Luna had been curious, prodding him and trying to get him to speak in the most annoying way possible. It reminded him of a certain someone he had promised never to think about. A certain someone who had taken off at the first chance she got, selfish to the very end. He should never have let her out. He should nev

It was the first time he had stood against her on a topic. It had been the first time he had been able to tell her no. It surprised her and she grew wary of him, refusing to tell him things anymore. She began prying into his life, convinced that something was wrong with him and he had only found out too late what his punishment for defying her was. Julian shook his head, riding on while following the tracks and the dark trails he could find of sorcerers. They had a distinct smell and aura. One that werewolves rarely knew about. It made it easy for him to track them, since he already knew what he was looking for, but not for the wolves, since they did not know what exact scent they were looking for. He was not looking forward to seeing them again. He could only hope the Goddess would help him keep his anger in check. He could not just walk into the camp to garner the needed information. He would need to become something he was not. If only for a few days. It wo

With each step forward, she flaunted her hips before him, swaying and seducing him. He swallowed again and he could not take his eyes off her. Her lips curved into a sensual smile. "You have come back to me, dear July?" He hated her. He hated that name she had called him in the confines of her chambers while he had pleasured her. "Do not call me that." The words were off his lips before he could even think of the them. He expected her brows to furrow and then a frown to tug her lips down, the way it always happened whenever she was mad, but instead, Sasha grinned. "There he is," she cooed, stretching a long nail toward him. He tried not to flinch as it traced a lone down his cheek, cutting in deep to draw blood. Her gaze remained on his as she lifted her hand to her mouth and licked the blood off it slowly. "I find it hard to believe you, Julian. Not when I can smell wolves on you. You have been mingling with the enemy, dining with them," she made a dramat

"The weather is great, is it not?" Lino asked, breath tickling Cassy neck, and Cassy smiled broadly. She had accepted to go on the date with him. Too many things had transpired in the last few days and she needed some air out of the castle. It was therapeutic in a strange way and she did not feel that much heaviness anymore. She was on good terms with her parents again, but there was still a distance between them that she was not quite sure would get fixed so quickly. She saw them everyday, ensured they were alright and well fed. They checked in on her too, but the warmth that came from family was not as great as it used to be. Perhaps with time, it would get better. They had yet to hear back from Julian, and though they trusted in his abilities, they still slowly prepared for a fail in the plans. She had rallied against Lino when he had said they had to prepare a backup plan immediately the hybrid left, but he had explained that it was a normal occurren

Lino shoved Cassy behind him, taking a stance in front of her as he snarled at the men before them. They peeled away from the shadows with ease and grace and Cassy wondered for how long they had been there, laying in wait. "Cassy," Lino said underneath his breath, low enough that only she could hear him speak. "Run." Cassy pulled back on the sleeve of his shirt. "Run? There is no way in hell that I'll leave you here with them!" Lino's hand pressed her back, away from the men. "Now is not the time to argue with me, Cassy. There are ten of them. I cannot fight with them if you are here. They will go after you to try to make me bend and while I'll fight till I die for you, I do not think it is wise to even let it get to that point." "They are going to come after me anyway," Cassy said, heartbeat spiking as she noticed the men drawing nearer. They were all looking at her. She knew they had come for her again, and Lino would be safe if she wasn't here. It wa

The men caught up with Cassy and Lino in a little while. They were surrounded and it came down to fighting or getting taken. There was no turning back now. Or running for Cassy. She would stay with Lino and fight it out. Leaving no time for them to try communicate with each other, they attacked. It was not a fair fight. Lino held well against them, but they were nine men who were rather difficult to kill. Seven were left with two down. With each swipe against the enemy, the sound of bones breaking filled the air, and Lino stood in front of Cassy, shielding her from the enemy's attack, as they had to be in direct line of sight before the hold of their magic could be strong enough to wreck through them. He shoved her repeatedly behind him and each time, she felt pain through the mating bond. It hurt like hell, but Lino did not stop moving. He did not let her see his pain or feel it. He held her in place behind him, ensuring that she was safe, and when they tried

Cassy fell forward as a burning sensation filled her up. She writhed, lunging for him. She was yanked back by the male holding on to the rope around her like it was some leash. Growling, she jutted forward, pulling the rope out of the male's grasp. The male grunted, going after her but Cassy did not care that she looked like a ragged animal. She didn't care that she was ripping her skin by pulling back on the ropes. She didn't care that someone was pulling her hair from behind, trying to take her away from him. Her world, her life was reduced to Lino's form that was writhing in pain. Against the pull of three men, she reached her mate's side and leaned over him. A tear dropped on his cheek and her lips trembled as she watched him breath hard, holding his hand to the gash to prevent blood loss. "It'll heal," Cassy cried, nodding amidst sobs. "It'll heal, Lino." He coughed slightly...and Cassy's breath hitched when she saw the blood on his lips. "Won't," he gritt
