CHAPTER 11: QUESTIONS SHE RATHER NOT ANSWER.

“Viktor, go and inform Alpha Tyler that she's awake. Grab something for her to eat from the dinner table while you're at it. I'll take her back to the sick bay, call Kaylee and Katida so that we can run a final checkup on her.”“Okay.”Viktor turned east while Kamala proceeded to lead Lana back to the sick bay. Her shivering stopped, and she eased her tensed body into the comfort of Kamala's touch. Kamala respected the fact that Lana was exhausted and didn't turn to make small talk. She kept silent, supporting her slow pace until they arrived.“Thank you,” Lana uttered. Kamala has been the first to show her kindness and patience. That was to her knowledge.“You are welcome. You are welcome and safe here. No one will hurt you again. I promise you that.”Yeah. Those were the familiar recitation of her best friend every day before he struck that dagger of betrayal into her heart. It would take more than words for her to trust another as blindly as she did with Scott. Nevertheless, she wa

CHAPTER 12: SUMMONED.

Lana did nothing but tremble while assimilating the series of Katida’s questions. She hated how vulnerable she was. If she wasn’t betrayed, this mere healer of a rogue pack wouldn’t have stood the chance of standing and talking before her. Katida wasn’t a match for her, but all that belonged to the past. The once delicious taste that lingered on her taste bud turned sour. Katida’s venomous voice stung her ears. If only she could stop, she would appreciate that.Thankfully, Kaylee took matters into her hands and shunned her. “Katida, are you crazy? How can you scare her like that? She has been through a lot in one day. Leave the questioning to be done by the Alpha. If you don’t want to help, you can go back to the room. There’s no need of rubbing salt on her--”“I will answer her question,” Lana's sudden low voice caught their attention. “I'm better now thanks to the three of you. The least I can do is answer her question.” Lana's mind was made up. If she kept acting avoiding the situa

CHAPTER 13: FEELING HER VIBRATION.

“Damn! We knew this moment was unavoidable. Viktor, is that wine remaining? She needs to knock herself up before facing him,” Kaylee suggested.“I don't think so. They have matching energy, and he has been defending her even before she wakes up. He rescued her and made sure we healed her. Tyler wouldn't be harsh. You have nothing to worry about,” Kamala comforted.“You are right. Don't stress. You will live,” Viktor added.Lana felt like she was exposed. Everyone already knew a piece of her. She also read in the atmosphere that they knew she and the Alpha were mates but was careful of that topic. Taking steady breaths, “please, take me to him. It's inappropriate to keep the Alpha waiting.”“And, she has manners,” Kaylee smiled.“Come,” Viktor beckoned.“Before you go, have this.” Kamala handed Lana an extra sweater. “Wear it. The night will be freezing.”“Thank you.” Lana slid the thick fabric over her head, covering her t-shirt with it. She felt warmer and surprisingly more confident

CHAPTER 14: INDECISION OF THE ALPHA.

Even the Heavens felt his anger as a bolt of lightning struck across the unsuspecting sky. It was dry, and the weather was mostly windy. Tyler's temper changed that. Rain took over and the wind increased five folds, almost sending the pegs that held the tent away. The flickering light turned off, and the tent became pitch black. It was not an issue for Tyler, as he could see with his wolf eyes. Lana fumbled with her steps because her eyes were ordinary as that of a human. Another reason she hated herself the more. Weak. Powerless and a plaything for anyone who wields even the lowest rank in a pack. That would be the Omega.Lana stepped back until the droplets of rain coming in through the opening of the tent wet her clothes. She didn't mind if that got her away from the closeness of Tyler's glare. The last thing she wanted was to be ripped apart by his fury.“Don't fucking lie to me. Who are you?”“I…me… I have told you,” she whispered. “My name is Lana and that is all that I remember

CHAPTER 15: THE RIDE HOME.

When she left, Tyler let out a gush of air. The rain had subsided and was only drizzling, but he feared that she will get soaked and catch a cold. Unfortunately, he lost his train of thought and forgot to give her one of his thick jackets. Well, if she caught a cold, there were healers to take care of her.He couldn't believe that he had to fight with his wolf by running his hand over the length of her hair. Her curves were simple yet feminine. Her scent irresistible and her beauty, unique. The more she saw her, he felt it would take less confusion before he gave in and made her his mate.Tyler tucked himself in after placing his gun under his pillow as he stretched his body. Something he did out of habit to fall asleep. Her image filled his head and he was already overriding everyone else's say to keep her. Things didn't work that way for his pack. He had to consult the elders first and get their unanimous agreement. Even though he could single-handedly make all decisions, that would

CHAPTER 16: FREE TOWN.

Lana felt embarrassed at the sound her stomach was making, and she grabbed it, pressing on her stomach with both palms before turning away to look out the window. The area was quiet and lonely. Only dirt and bushes covered its path. An entirely different view than what she was used to. She couldn't complain because it was what she was used to that killed her.She kept staring left and right, taking in the view of tall, scanty trees and rocks. Her mind wanted to try to make a small conversation with Tyler to brighten up the mood, but she lacked courage. What could she possibly say that this handsome man would pick interest in except seeing her as a nuisance? The good thing was that her injuries were rapidly healing and she felt almost nothing. Not even the presence of the stitches. She had noted that too. Fast healing speed since it was her first time being brutally hurt. Other times, her injuries came from knife cuts, scratches, and little things like that. She paid no attention to t

CHAPTER 17: A PECULIAR SCENT.

Free Town as the name implies was free. Lana hadn't been to one but heard stories about them in pieces. First hand, she was experiencing it. After the parking area, the second thing to see was a fighting arena, which was a broad slab of concrete about long and just as wide. Probably an old building or an event area of some kind, looking abandoned due to its bad state.Rings were outlined by concrete blocks, and the outside accepted and rejected Shifters having fun and working off steam; those not fighting were cheering, drinking beer, or finding either the weak to taunt or the strong to show off their powers to. Others also smooched and openly made out, reserving the larger show for later.Elijah walked ahead, keeping his focus straight. Tyler followed, holding Lana, but her eyes kept wandering around until they fell on a displeased wolf, who practically undressed her with his eyes. He couldn't do much, smelling Tyler all over her. Inside wasn't any different from outside. Only havi

CHAPTER 18: DEFENDING WHAT BELONGS TO HIM.

Tyler didn’t know who the hell the wolf was. Not that he had much of a chance of identification as the Omega landed on Tyler again since he has become the obstacle between him and Lana. The wolf went for Tyler’s throat, and Tyler’s hands turned to that of a wolf, his eyes flashing red with fury. His paws raked across the wolf’s face. The wolf took the blow, landed on his feet, shook himself, and sprang again. Tyler was tired of the game. He didn't want to kill a wolf in Free Town, and that was why he wasn't using all of his power. But, this wolf acted like it wanted death, not to live. He was too violent and reeked of hatred. It was tough to hold himself together, even though he was trying to hold this wolf from killing himself. Unexpected attacks happened once in a while, but between a wolf that knew or had a grudge against the other. Why was this one attacking Lana in the open when she wasn't even a wolf? That question enraged Tyler. He whacked the wolf aside again, spinning aroun

CHAPTER 19: SAVING HERSELF.

Lana's thoughts began to move in circles. She was trying so hard to figure out who then was. His face wasn't resonating with any memory. Only his scent was peculiar.“You know me?” she asked. The man's face twitched. His eyebrows furrowed. Katida returned shortly with an overall jacket for Tyler to put on. She had dressed in a fresh set of clothing. Tyler took the clothe and wrapped them around himself.“Are you acting dumb with me? You are the whore that was meant to marry the Alpha.”“I think you have the wrong person. I have no memory of my past. Surely, I do not remember you.”“He doesn't,” Kamala interjected. “Both of you have the same energy, meaning you're from the same pack.”Lana's plan failed. She was in a loop now. How would she shut this man up? Once more, she prayed to the universe to save her. If it did this time, she will make sure to disappear from plain sight.Tyler did nothing. He stood with his arms crossed, moving his glances between Lana and the man. “Why did you

CHAPTER 20: THE DISPLEASURE OF THE COUNCIL.

Lana closely followed behind Tyler, her heart pounding like a haywire about to go off. More than being nervous to meet the elders of a new pack, she was troubled because of the wolf in Tyler's custody. How could she question and get rid of him without raising suspicions? She had no idea where this enormous fortress was and how to work her way around there. The silver pack had Gammas patrolling every corner. They weren't the usual Lana was used to. These were armed to the teeth like SWAT operatives you see in movies. They were all taller, huge, and serious looking. Another section they passed had a training unit. It surprised her that even women trained.“The females here train?” she questioned.“Is training meant for a specific group? Everyone trains. That is why Katida could fight the wolf.”Lana nodded. Not only was the environment beautiful. It felt safe. Every corner was illuminated with bright bulbs, and there were tall lines of streetlights that made the place radiant. Each pers
