Beyond My Mate's Betrayal 의 모든 챕터: 챕터 41 - 챕터 50

Scarlett's povGavin was allowed to move into my room. Although we had mated and he had marked me, it felt like spending the first night with my partner. I was so lucky that my father was supportive and that none of the pack members objected to it. I guess the little video I recorded helped a lot in earning the trust and support of the commoners. Even the girls who bad mouthed me because I rescinded my bond with Michael didn't utter a word of antagonism.Gavin and I had such a wonderful time being intimate. The experience was different since we didn't have to worry about getting caught. We professed our love for each other throughout our intimacy until our bodies demanded that we rest. I curled up next to him while strong arms encircled me. I could feel him inhaling my hair. A smile curled on my lips. Strangely, I relished the sensation. In any case, the time I spent with my mate alone was a welcome respite from the turmoil our pack was experiencing. He drew me in for a kiss on the fo

Scarlett's povWhat? Shift? Now?I halted on my step and looked at my limbs. "Are you sure, Iris?" I asked her. "Yes. I'm ready," she said. Grinning from ear to ear, I let my body transform. Embracing the sensation I had gotten accustomed to, I closed my eyes. It had been such a long time since I had shifted to my wolf and it was a little painful. Nonetheless, I was excited to be able to morph into my wolf form. An audible gasp escaped my lips as I fell on all fours. My spine adjusted, and so did my face as my transformation completed. Feeling elated, I wagged my tail and opened my eyes to look at my paws. To my surprise, the fur wasn't a regular white colour. It was silvery and radiant, shimmering under the moonlight.Although I was shocked, I knew that I didn't have time to spare. We had to rush to the border. "Wait… why is the fur silver Iris?" I asked her as she dashed towards the West side. "I told you," she huffed as she ran. "We were reborn with powers. Silver fur is a sign

Scarlett's pov I couldn't move a muscle. Dumbfounded, I stared blankly at his motionless body that was lying in a pool of blood. Crimson droplets were scattered all over the room and the furniture. Surprisingly the place was neat. There were no signs of struggle in his quarters. He just lay on the floor as though he was sleeping. If only there wasn't a dagger sticking out of his torso.I craned my neck, trying to get a better look at him. His shirt wasn't ripped nor were there signs of a fight. Then how did that dagger end up buried in his chest?"Alpha!" Gavin exclaimed, stepping forward, and glancing at me. "Star? Hey," he faced me and started to tap my cheeks, perhaps thinking that I had gone into a state of shock. I sucked a breath in, my eyes still on his body. My father couldn't be dead, could he? Maybe his heart was still beating. Maybe we could still save him…I took tentative steps towards him, staring at his chest, secretly hoping that I saw a sign of life in him. I wishe

Scarlett's povHe blankly stared at me for quite some time. Frowning, I stared back at him. Didn't he see what was so obvious? He couldn't be that blind. Perhaps my dad gave a blind eye to Bert's actions because he was one of his closest friends, but we couldn't overlook the signs. "Don't you see it? Someone close has been stabbing us in the back for a long time. And from the way Bert has been reacting, I feel suspicious about him. He has access to the keys and the security system. The guards wouldn't question him at all even if he asked them to leave the security room for a while. Bert is one of the few members of the pack my dad trusted enough to allow inside his private chambers. And remember when you traced the number that texted me? The signal was coming from the pack house. It all…" "Makes sense," Gavin solemnly mumbled, cutting me off. Heaving a breath, he nodded his head. "I saw all of that, but was feeling reluctant to make an accusation. But now that you mention that, I g

"Really?" I raised a brow. "I didn't know that you were so bitter, Bert. Do you even realise how immature that was? You wanted your son to lead the pack at any cost and when that didn't happen, you chose violence. That's so childish. Just because my dad wouldn't order me to mate with your son. Did you even once ask Kyle what he wanted? I'm sure he would love to find the one meant for him instead of mating with someone way older."I believe Bert was at a loss for words. Hardly able to contain his disgust, he turned away and grimaced."Unbelievable!" I breathed out. "Normally parents would be exhilarated about their pups finding their soulmates. But I guess you're an exception." He sneered at me. "I was hoping that you would become his mate but that didn't happen."I rolled my eyes. It was a waste of time talking about that so I changed the topic."So you let Michael escape from the dungeons, didn't you? Didn't you care about what might happen to the innocent pups?" The tense muscles
