Scarlett's povMichael's threats made my mind spin. At least, that's how I interpreted it: as a potential danger. It was unnerving that he was interested in me. Inhaling rapidly, my heart rate increased. I started hyperventilating without even realising it."Hey, hey," Gavin quickly rushed to help me. He grabbed my shoulders, pulling me into his warmth. Warm tears rolled down my cheeks but having someone to support me felt nice. I sobbed into his chest, soaking his shirt as I clutched his jacket and buried my face in his chest. I hated that I was crying y because of how scared I was. Painful memories of the day he attempted to kill me flooded my memory. That was the day he revealed his true character to me. He murdered me in front of the rest of the pack. He chose Georgette over me - his true mate. And that too after destroying my pack. He took everything from me. My family, my home, and even my life. Though the memories were from a past life, they left me very unsettled."What happe

Scarlette's pov I stared at him for a long time. Did he say that he wanted to be my mate? I breathed out. "We both know that mate bonds don't work that way," I told him regretfully though my heart kept screaming otherwise.Oh, how I wished that it was normalised to choose mates in our world. But no. Rejections, choosing the person you want to love was badly frowned upon in all the werewolf packs. We were supposed to wait for our mates. Even if it took an entire lifetime. He sighed. He knew what I meant. "But you have rejected him. Can't we just… I don't know… Have some fun?" I was a little surprised to hear him say that. Fun? Well, that sounded interesting. I wouldn't mind having 'fun' with this fine specimen. The thought curled a mischievous smile on my face. Snickering under my breath, "fun?" I asked. He shrugged his shoulders. "Humans do it all the time. I mean I like you…" he suddenly trailed off and his eyes went wide. Wait… He liked me? That's even more interesting. "Sor

Gavin's povI wouldn't lie, I was taken aback when she crashed her lips on mine, yet, my body seemed to welcome it wholeheartedly. Akela jumped for joy and teased me for being a sucker and freezing on the spot. He liked her and so did I. But we both knew that she didn't belong to us, so we stayed away. Nonetheless, ever since that kiss, Akela's attachment to her magnified… okay maybe I also was feeling a bit more protective over her.During the time we spent together, I tried to make her laugh as much as I could, just so I could hear her melodious voice. When she laughed, her blue eyes would sparkle like two sapphires and I thought that was the most beautiful sight I could see. As we spent more and more time together, I realised that I had failed to prevent my heart from leaning towards her. The air seemed fresher when she was around. Everything seemed better when I was with her. The world was just a better place when she was around. When night fell and we were no longer together, I

Scarlett's pov I was so glad that we successfully got rid of Michael this time. I remembered attending the same celebration in my past life. By then I had accepted Michael as my mate but hadn't moved into his pack. I had arrived with him to the ceremony as his date. Back then, I was flattered when he asked me to be his plus one. I was ecstatic when he arrived in his limousine and gave me a bunch of red roses. I was delighted when he displayed possessive protection over me. I was glad that I got to spend time with my mate instead of Gavin who was bugging me to no end. That time I got angry at Gavin for following me in his car, regardless of knowing that he was only doing his job. I reckoned that my father would have appreciated it. After all, all he wanted to do was protect me. Little did I know that I needed protection from the man I trusted the most. That night, I humiliated Gavin so much that he was forced to return home and I regret doing that. I regret a lot of choices I made and

Gavin's pov Akela was going crazy, screaming and fighting against me to take control. Still, I was able to hold him back. He was darn sure that she was our mate. Though I couldn't feel the sparks at first, as time passed by, I thought there was a tingle whenever our skin brushed against each other. It was so faint that there were times that I felt that I was imagining it. Still, Akela had no doubts. Yet, once again, I would have to be patient. She didn't feel the bond. I wasn't the type of a man who would force myself on a woman, even if my wolf was a hundred percent sure that she was mine. It was a bummer but when she explained about the crisis involving her wolf, I kind of understood. Nonetheless, I was astounded when she started to read about the rebirth of a wolf. It was just a myth… wasn't it? Still, I wanted to hear her out when we were interrupted. The conversation got disrupted and a more urgent matter arose. At first, I was sceptical about checking Georgette's room. St
