"I guess..." she trails off uncertainly. She closes her eyes momentarily. "Thanks for being here anyway," she tells him. He smirks and nods. He rests his head against hers.After a couple of minutes, he notices that Max is getting more and more restless with every passing second. His eyes drift towards her leg. He reaches across the couch cushion and grabs it, tugging on the edge of the blanket. He pulls it away from the side of her leg and holds his breath as he inspects her leg carefully. The cut had already started to scab up a little bit so hopefully, it wouldn't scar over. He releases the breath he was holding once he feels satisfied that everything's alright. He lets out a sigh of relief before placing both of his hands against the sides of her leg. He tries to push the fabric upwards gently, not wanting to aggravate the injury further. She winces slightly as he moves the material upwards a little higher."Ow," she complains quietly. He furrows his brows together worriedly

"All those people that's already over. I feel so guilty for all of it. Even if I knew who I am now, I still wouldn't feel safe. Not knowing who I really am terrifies me." He frowns."If only there was some way we could bring your memories back," he murmurs. She sighs."I don't know," she responds quietly. "Maybe once you heal, things will change for me." She looks up at him and tries to give him a reassuring smile. "Hopefully I won't be such a werewolf anymore." She pauses. "What about you?" she asks him. "Any strange dreams last night?"He shakes his head slightly."Nope," he confirms.They continue to sit in silence for a while longer. Finally, he breaks it by clearing his throat."Can I ask you something?" he asks uncertainly."Of course you can," she says. He clears his throat again."Why are you always so nice?" he inquires curiously. "Like, most of the time I see you being mean or sarcastic or annoyed, and you always try to make it better. But today..." he pauses unsurely.

She's lost in her thoughts for quite a while after that, only being pulled out of them when her cell phone rings. She reaches for it, surprised to see that Max has called her."Hi," she answers when she sees the name of the caller flashing on the screen. "How are you?" She asks, hoping that Max will answer quickly so she can get the conversation over with."Fine, thanks," Max replies. Max is silent for a moment before asking. "Did you manage to find anything on the guy who attacked you? Do you know who he is? Did you see anyone who looked suspicious in the park?"Max's question surprises her."What guy?" she asks confusedly."The one who attacked you last week," Max repeats impatiently. "You said he tried to mug you, right?"Max frowns slightly as she realizes what his means."Yeah I saw him," she mutters before asking in surprise. "Why didn't you say anything before? Aren't you supposed to report all these kind of things? If I remember correctly, it's your job, isn't it?"Max chuck

"You know, you're welcome to write it down in my notebook, by the way," she mentions to her brother. "I mean, you could always try if you're that nervous.""Nervous?" He repeats with a chuckle. "Why would I be nervous?""Because you keep writing things down in your notes without telling me," Max points out."Hm, well maybe I would've told you if I'd known that you were gonna read them," he mutters under his breath.She ignores him as she continues reading. She's not surprised to see that he writes almost every single day, yet every single entry is about something completely different than the last entries. This particular entry makes Max stop completely as she stares at it blankly."I think…I think I'm starting to fall for you." "Wait, what?" Max exclaims. She snaps her head to look at her brother as realization hits her. "That was your diary!"He stares at Max for a few moments in shock as he tries to process what she's said. He tries to think of something to say to her in order

"What?!" He exclaims. "Why didn't you tell me?""Sorry, bro! Didn't realize you needed to know," he responds apologetically. "Look, I'll call you later, alright? Maybe I'll come by after school today.""Yeah, alright."He quickly hangs up the phone. He looks down at the device, slightly annoyed at the sudden interruption. He stands up from his chair and walks over to the door. As he walks outside, he sees his sister coming towards the door with their coats in her arms."Ready to go, dude?" Max asks, giving him a warm smile."Yeah," he responds smiling back at her.The couple begin walking towards Mike's car, talking casually. Suddenly the sound of Max's phone ringing fills the air and breaks their conversation. The redhead grabs her cell phone from her pocket and answers it without hesitation."Hello?" she says softly."Hey, babe," he hears him greet. "How's it going? How's my favorite princess?"Max rolls her eyes at the nickname. "Good. He and I are still heading home. I'm going
