He'd been standing with his back to her but as Katherine stepped out into the cool starry skied darkness that was fast blooming into a beautiful night, he turned. No other man could've worn such an immaculate evening dress with such an outlandish amount of panache. "I can't believe you could do something so spendthrift!" Katherine confuted, setting her purse on the polished mahogany table. "Do what?" Nick quizzed in a honeyed voice, a phony look of innocence on his face. "I thought I was being considerate by renting an office apartment so we could get on with formulating our policy?" "Well…this isn't just any office apartment. I mean, haven't you looked around you at all?!" She remarked, brown almond eyes sweeping past the sumptuous space in a quick assesive glance. "This place must cost a fortune!" She continued. "Three hundred dollars per hour, to be exact." He interjected, and her lips pursed in surprise. "That's even higher than I'd expected!" She said, her voice coming in a near whisper. "We could've just stayed behind at Cole Corp like you always do. Why did you do something so unnecessary?" Just then, there was a brief knock on the door. Katie's eyes flew up to meet Nicholas Smith's, surprise clearly written in them. "Come in."

Katherine Cooper closed her laptop for the second time and sighed. Nick looked up immediately, slightly distracted. "Something wrong?" He quizzed, obsidian eyes searching her weary face for answers. Katie shook her head, long chocolate waves swishing from side to side."I'm sorry. I just…'' She trailed off, and then let out another sigh. "We've been working on this for almost a week now, and still we are yet to have any positive results. I mean, if it were possible for us to formulate a policy with over fifty percent success rate, by now, shouldn't we have done it already?"Nicholas Smith remained silent.
