She slouched down on the chair, as if his gaze was poisonous. “It was me, because I thought differently,” Eric said. He watched the Kitten flinch. His words clearly hurt her feelings, but they were all true. The truth is painful for both of them. She had seen him as something else, something she thought was good. There was a time when he had the same thoughts as her. He never realized how much it meant to him, until it was no longer real.
