KILLIAN’S POV “Erika is totally fine, there’s nothing wrong with her.” I recounted the words I told my uncle as I headed back to my house. ERIKA’S POV “Sandra?!” I called out as I arrived at the quiet temple. “Are you here?! I have good news for you!” “What is it?” A cold voice suddenly came from behind me. I shivered. I turned around to see Sandra with a thick-covered book clutched against her chest. “Hey,” I nervously spoke. “What are you doing here?” She asked me. “C’mon, it’s no crime for me to be here. KILLIAN’S POV I kicked a can of soda I saw on the floor so hard that I felt a slight pain at the tip of my toes. But that pain wouldn't hurt as much as the one which would come if anything happened to Erika. With my squeezed fists behind my back, I frantically paced from one corner to the other. “What is taking them the whole day to return?” I thundered. “That’s why I keep saying that the supernatural world should adopt as much technology as possible, but these other myopic-minded alphas do not get it. Never!” “Take it easy, Killian, they’ll surely return,” Ciro said to me, “let’s wait a bit longer.” “We’ve waited for more than five hours now," I blared. ERIKA’S POV My heart raced fast, my feet trembling as they dragged me through the woods. I almost fell down a couple of times, but their grip was too strong to let go. The only thing I could feel was hefty arms tugging me around. In the darkness of the sack material that was used to cover my face, I struggled to breathe. Transform. Runaway. All possible escape options I had beckoned on me to try them out. But before I could try to shift, I felt a hand tying something on my ankles. Feeling it carefully, it didn't happen to be a cuff, but rather an anklet on each ankle. “This won’t let her transform,” I heard a female voice speak. Shit! It was too late for me now. I tried to shift, but it felt like Veletta had been tied down. I tried again, adding more struggle, but it felt like I was only hurting my wolf. “Shit!” I groaned. “C’mon, stay calm baby girl,” I heard a voice whisper from behind me. KILLIAN’S POV Smoke! The whole staircase was fuming up. Judging from the direction in which the smoke was coming out, the source was upstairs. I scooted up the stairs, moving past the thick cloud of smoke. But just then, I noticed it wasn’t actually smoke as it wasn’t choking my nostrils. From the way it felt on my skin, it was steam. But what could be producing this much steam? What was happening? Immediately I got past the cloud of steam and got some field of vision, I saw the door of Erika’s room partly open, and all the steam flying out from there. Shit! I ran at full tilt to cover the short distance between her room and the corridor. I swung the door fully open, and luckily for me, the smoke wasn’t as thick in there as it was outside. “Erika!” I called out her name. “Erika!” But no response came from her. Instead, I heard the sound of running water from the bathroom. She was there, no doubt! Quickly, I ran into the bathroom and met Erika with her hands dipped into the sink
