Chapter 101: Empty

ERIKA'S POV Killian was drunk. After staggering all the way back to the house and mumbling a horde of nonsense, I dropped him on the floor and he fell onto the sofa. I went into the kitchen to get something for him to eat only to return and see him on the floor purging. He clutched fast to his belly like it was biting him hard, groaning and squirming about the floor. He retched and retched, but nothing came out of his mouth except a tiny amount of phlegm. Fear gripped my toes and I began to panic as I didn't know what to do. "Lerah!" I called out, and she appeared within a few seconds. "What is—" she paused when she saw Killian on the floor. "What happened!?" "I found him at the tavern drinking, and I brought him home. It hasn't even been up to four minutes since I entered the kitchen to get him food before I found him here rolling on the floor!" "He's been drinking on empty stomachs," Lerah said, her face down. "I tried my best to stop him, but he didn't." "What have you

Chapter 102: I Dare You!

KILLIAN’S POV “Erika is totally fine, there’s nothing wrong with her.” I recounted the words I told my uncle as I headed back to my house. Passing through the front door, I stumbled into some cobwebs hanging down from the top of the door. “Aargh!” I groaned angrily, “Where did these cobwebs come from!?” Lerah was nearby, mopping the corridor that led to her room. She rushed out when she heard me groan. “I’m so sorry, alpha Killian, I never knew there were cobwebs there,” she said. “I’ve told you time without number, I always loved my mansion sparkling clean. And if the task of cleaning it is too much for you to do all by yourself, I can employ other betas to help with the cleaning,” I said. I couldn’t even understand why I had to tell her that. My mansion was big and needed as many hands as possible in order to clean it. But she chose to do everything by herself, and I just let her go ahead with that as if she had the final say. “By the way, I can’t seem to sense Erika’s presen

Chapter 103: No Objections

ERIKA’S POV I wiped my tears and ran out right after Killian to find out what was wrong with Mandy. Before I got to the front door, some other members of the pack were there trying to console her. The rim of her eyes was swollen red from tears. “Speak up to me, Sandra,” Killian beckoned on her as she was panting heavily and finding it hard to articulate. As her chest heaved up and down, her lips opened up in an attempt to speak, but the big inhales were just strong enough to restrict her speech. “Shit!” Killian groaned. Furiously, he stood up, “Does anyone know what is wrong with her?!” The little crowd was silent. But someone suddenly spoke, “I saw her running out from the hospital crying.” “Shit!” Killian cursed as if that answer had made him realize what was wrong with Sandra. Just then, my heart throbbed so hard that I clutched fast to my chest and bent down. I felt a strong pain in my body. But at the same time, it felt like that pain didn’t belong to my body— was it someon

Chapter 104: Good News

ERIKA’S POV “Sandra?!” I called out as I arrived at the quiet temple. “Are you here?! I have good news for you!” “What is it?” A cold voice suddenly came from behind me. I shivered. I turned around to see Sandra with a thick-covered book clutched against her chest. “Hey,” I nervously spoke. “What are you doing here?” She asked me. “C’mon, it’s no crime for me to be here. Is it?” “You called my name. What do you want?” She said. I sighed listlessly, “Alpha Killian has approved of your journey to the potter’s village.” She almost jumped in excitement but she strongly held it back. But it was clearly written on her face that she liked the news I told her. “Also, I’ll be going with you, Sandra,” I smiled. “Erika, I’m so grateful for that,” her mood went light, “Thank you so much.” “Anytime,” I smiled, “And by the way, we’ll be leaving tomorrow by train.” “The new transport system?” “Yes. It has started functioning.” “Alright. I’ll be ready as early as possible,” she promise

Chapter 105: Mister Gold-potter

ERIKA’S POV The train came to a stop and all eyes went to the captain’s quarters. “Hold on people,” the congress officer said, briskly heading to the captain's quarters The train was filled with murmurs for about five minutes before the officer’s return. Immediately he stepped out of the captain’s quarters, a pin-drop silence enveloped the whole train. “My apologies,” he said, “the captains had to switch. It’s a best practice for safe travels because one could get mentally or physically exhausted while piloting this vehicle.” The train engine started up immediately and we continued moving. My mind had been racing, but was now at ease as I saw there was no big problem. The next moment the train came to a stop was when we got to the potter’s village. It was time to say goodbye to Cassie, and somehow that was something I had been waiting for. “Don’t miss me too much, Erika,” she said. Like hell, I’d want to see her again after experiencing her tormenting weird behavior. “Take good

Chapter 106: The Vase

KILLIAN’S POV I kicked a can of soda I saw on the floor so hard that I felt a slight pain at the tip of my toes. But that pain wouldn't hurt as much as the one which would come if anything happened to Erika. With my squeezed fists behind my back, I frantically paced from one corner to the other. “What is taking them the whole day to return?” I thundered. “That’s why I keep saying that the supernatural world should adopt as much technology as possible, but these other myopic-minded alphas do not get it. Never!” “Take it easy, Killian, they’ll surely return,” Ciro said to me, “let’s wait a bit longer.” “We’ve waited for more than five hours now," I blared. This normal attitude of him being relaxed even at desperate times like this was something I wasn't buying now. To hell with being calm and speculative. "In short, I’m done waiting,” I furiously announced. Pointing at Trevor, “Get my car, we’re heading out to the potter’s village!” I moved off with Trevor, while Ciro stayed back.

Chapter 107: Battle Wagons

KILLIAN'S POV The funeral was postponed to two more nights from the former date. Sandra's late dad was later laid to rest and his ash was stored in the vase he had requested. I advised Erika to stay as close as possible to Sandra and Stella, in order to help them get through the moment. Erika had requested permission to travel, but I had it postponed till Sandra, her friend, had gotten over the death of her father. There had been many cases where werewolves who lost their parents died due to the emotional trauma of losing a source of that parental love and care. Despite how physically strong we werewolves were, we were emotionally fragile, bleeding in the heart whenever love departed from us or our trust was betrayed. Strange as it may sound, Sandra and Stella were still susceptible to that. It mostly happened with the females, despite their age. Unlike them, the male ones easily coped with the loss of their parents. Ciro, for example, lost his parents in a battle when he was j

Chapter 108: As You Wish

ERIKA’S POV My heart raced fast, my feet trembling as they dragged me through the woods. I almost fell down a couple of times, but their grip was too strong to let go. The only thing I could feel was hefty arms tugging me around. In the darkness of the sack material that was used to cover my face, I struggled to breathe. Transform. Runaway. All possible escape options I had beckoned on me to try them out. But before I could try to shift, I felt a hand tying something on my ankles. Feeling it carefully, it didn't happen to be a cuff, but rather an anklet on each ankle. “This won’t let her transform,” I heard a female voice speak. Shit! It was too late for me now. I tried to shift, but it felt like Veletta had been tied down. I tried again, adding more struggle, but it felt like I was only hurting my wolf. “Shit!” I groaned. “C’mon, stay calm baby girl,” I heard a voice whisper from behind me. But following that whisper was a heavy thwack on my nape that brought me to my knees.

Chapter 109: Careless

ERIKA’S POV I joined Killian at the dining table in the evening. Lerah had used a blue tablecloth for the decoration, instead of the usual white linen. Coupled with the silver table mats, and the silver wares dropped atop them, the tablecloth gave a finishing appearance to the decor. The five-finger candle stand had burning candles only in the middle fingers, and the other two were empty. Sitting at my own end and haphazardly picking up my spoon, I watched Killian who seriously minded the meal he was having. I took a spoonful of the curry sauce and sipped, it was astonishing. “How do you like the sauce?” I smiled slightly as I awaited his opinion. He had something in his mouth, a chunk of the rabbit meat that had been served with the sauce. Speaking amidst chewing his meat, I heard him say, “Lerah has always been good… Mmm… I didn’t expect less.” I smiled, glad that he relished the meal as well. About six minutes had passed since I joined Killian at the table, but we hadn’t

Chapter 110: Smoke!

KILLIAN’S POV Smoke! The whole staircase was fuming up. Judging from the direction in which the smoke was coming out, the source was upstairs. I scooted up the stairs, moving past the thick cloud of smoke. But just then, I noticed it wasn’t actually smoke as it wasn’t choking my nostrils. From the way it felt on my skin, it was steam. But what could be producing this much steam? What was happening? Immediately I got past the cloud of steam and got some field of vision, I saw the door of Erika’s room partly open, and all the steam flying out from there. Shit! I ran at full tilt to cover the short distance between her room and the corridor. I swung the door fully open, and luckily for me, the smoke wasn’t as thick in there as it was outside. “Erika!” I called out her name. “Erika!” But no response came from her. Instead, I heard the sound of running water from the bathroom. She was there, no doubt! Quickly, I ran into the bathroom and met Erika with her hands dipped into the sink
