Get A Dad For Them

Moonlight poured into the room while Susan cuddled her kids jealously to herself. The lights were off, although Judy, as usual of the twins, wished she could sleep with the lights turned on. All that playing and activity all through the day, now the kids were tired. They clung to both sides of their mother, holding her as if she was going to escape if they dared let her free. The day's activities flashed across Susan's mind. She had to go back to her family's house again. She needed those clothes.'I will go there when dad is around' she muttered while she thought of the possibility. Hopefully, her dad being around will make a difference to her, if not, she might do something that no one would expect, not even herself. She shook her head at the thought of her stepsister and her stepmother. The joy Joey felt from humiliating her still made Susan wonder why she was so mean, and to what end. and what did Joey ever hope to achieve? she had no idea. The bed the three of them lay in, a me

New School

Susan started to groom Michael for the day. She fetched a wet towel and wiped his skin clean. His face, the back of his ears and all over his entire body were wiped clean. Then it was time for her to groom his hair. It was usually her favourite thing to do for Michael in the morning because his hair was long and perfect. She liked the feel of it against her palm. She had a comb by her, so she combed out his blonde long hair, every single strand that was originally hidden, she combed it out to expose Michael's full hair. It poured on his shoulder like a waterfall. 'Wait a damn minute' Susan yelped, standing back to take a more observant look at her son. She styled his hair in several ways, just to confirm if what was on her mind was correct. Michael looked exactly like the asshole that almost broke her wrist, all because he was trying to save Joey. 'No, no, no. This can't be. This is unbelievable' Susan muttered, gazing at her son, Michael in surprise. She zoned out on him.'Mom, wha

New Job

'I need to start working desperately' Susan said to herself after she had paid the fees for her twins' new school. It was expensive to afford, but it was because of them that she was working so hard after all, so the cost of the fees was not troubling her.'I have only 9,650 dollars left, in my entire life. What the hell?' she muttered when she checked her account balance. Michael and Judy had easily won the love of their teachers as soon as they resumed their new school. Aunt Mabel had searched for a kindergarten around the neighbourhood, in advance for the kids showing up. So that morning, after the kids had finished their meal and stepped out, Susan easily took them to the school their grand aunt Mabel had already fished out for them. The fact that while they were abroad, they had already spent a couple of months in pre-school, and about two years in kindergarten, gave them an edge over their supposed mates. They were mature. Much more than the rest of the pupils that they studied

Declined

An impressive man stepped out of the elevator. He wore a typical suit, with one of his hands dipped stylishly into the pocket of the pants he had on. His aura was gentle and calm, although, it could not be mistaken for weakness. The way he stood out, made the other men that stood by him look dull and blunt. If one were to judge a man by his looks before he was awarded anything deserving, then this man that Susan happened to catch a small glimpse of, would likely own the world and everything in it, because he was unbelievably perfect. Richard Williams, the man that Susan almost saw stepping out of the elevator, squinted and burrowed his eyebrow. The person he was looking at was that same stubborn girl from the previous evening at Joey's birthday party. He could not avoid noticing Susan, no matter how hard he tried to. He was stepping out of his elevator, and she was just stepping into hers. While he noticed Susan, who had just stepped into the elevator, the spot where she had bitten

Insecure

Susan was frantic. How could she have possibly offended anyone, just hours after arriving in the country? She had not even spent twenty-four hours in America, yet trouble had caught up with her already.'I hate my damn life' she muttered.'You what?' Susan's godmother asked her. Susan had gone so deep in thought, to the extent that she forgot that her godmother was still on the call, asking to know whose toes Susan had stepped on.'But I just got here. How on earth could I have stepped on any toes? I have not even met anyone apart from...' Susan was saying when she suddenly remembered the man at Joey's party.'Wait, godmother, can you please explain how your CEO looks?' She yelped. Her godmother felt small relief to know that Susan had started to recall an event. She knew that Richard's decision was not an ordinary one, and something must have happened concerning Susan that he was aware of, but she just could not draw up a connection yet.'I just sent you a picture of him' her godmoth

She Didn't Get The Job

Michael, in a bid to make his mom feel better, thought it best to change the topic of conversation. After all, something interesting had happened at school, and he had looked forward to telling his mom about it the entire time.'Mom, guess what?' he asked her. 'Our teacher showed us a video on his phone. It was a video of us. Me and Judy. He said that we were popular on the internet,' the innocent boy revealed.Susan's eyes widened.'What are you talking about?' She replied in panic, but quickly shifted her mood back to being gentle, thinking that Michael was only making a thoughtless statement. He took his mom's phone from her. Susan allowed him to take it, thinking that he only wanted to play games on it as usual. She busied herself with hugging Judy and trying to make her feel as good as she could because Judy had started sobbing, seeing her mom in pain and tears. Michael scrolled through his mom's phone like an expert. Somehow, he had crammed the title of the video when his teache

Are These Your Kids?

'What happened to mom? Is she okay?' Judy asked her brother, Michael. While he was making the call to whoever Judy had no idea about, she looked at him with expectation. Especially when she heard him talk about their mom.'Mom failed her interview' Michael said with a depressed countenance. The kids were very much aware of Susan's new job and what it was about. She was excited back at home in the country they came from when she secured the job. So excited to the extent that she could not afford not to let her kids know about the good news. Now she had lost it, and the kids were sad.In the ever-so-busy city center, there was an area marked out only for the wealthy and influential. Not just anyone could be found around that place unless you wanted to be harassed by the mean-looking security guards that protected the place. That night, there were three men sitting under a bright chandelier that sparkled elegantly above their heads. They were in a light discussion because there were occa

Usual Suspect

Richard scoffed.'This has got to be the joke of the century,' he said. 'Those are not my kids in any way, what a silly coincidence,' he added.'Then how do you explain the striking resemblance?' Daniel asked. His expression was sure and bent on having Richard do something and try to find out about those kids, and not just assume that they were not his.'If they are not your kids, then they have to belong to your brother, the younger one,' Vector added.'There's no way on earth those kids belong to William's family, not at all. You lot spare me the sermon,' Richard replied.'Okay then, how do you explain this?' Daniel replied, still looking at the video in awe.'My brother has to be out of his damn mind. How irresponsible of him to have kids by the corner. He keeps on disgracing the damn family for crying out loud, he needs to be stopped' Richard ranted.'Your brother is a celebrity. If he has kids that he or your family does not know about, it should not come as a surprise at all,' D

Intruder

It was a free day for Susan the next morning. If not that Richard had relieved her of her new job, by now she would have been on her way to her new office, but she was without any job.'I'd take you guys to school since I'm not doing anything for now. Don't worry about it Aunt Mabel' Susan said in a cheerful tone. Having slept over the previous day's chaos and disappointment, she was in a better mood at the moment. The kids skipped to school, exhibiting purity and innocence, much like every kid their age should naturally possess.'Mum, why are there all these cars in school today, what is going on?' Michael asked. The kids looked like angels. When the natural light of the morning sky fell on them, it embellished their perfect skin with a golden glow. The number of cars parked at the corner of the street of their school was oppressive. They were all executive cars, all painted black with tinted glasses. Susan didn't consider their presence there as a big deal, given the fact that it ha

Meeting The Kids

'Here ma'am. I am offering you a blank contract with my company. All you have to do is scribble in how long you want to work with us, and then sign it. It's already signed by me' Richard handed Susan the documents as soon as he confirmed that she was not going to yield to giving him the information he needed from her.She could not believe it. Her eyes shone in genuine shock, while she stared at the document in Richard's hand. Somehow, unknown to Susan, Richard forced the contract into her hand. Her kids peeped at Richard from behind her. He was so tall, like the skyscrapers that Michael had seen when they first arrived in the city. He was so commanding as well. The way he stood in front of their mom, towering above her like a mean and bad man, it was obvious to the kids that she was afraid of him because of his big mood.'Mummy, who is this man? Is he a good man or a bad man?' Judy asked in her usual innocent voice. He just made her mother smile and changed her scared disposition ver
