Chapter 21

King Parker tried to keep his cool as he replied through gritted teeth, “Elder Thomas. I’m so glad you could make it. We seriously need to talk.” He pushed a button on his desk and four warriors walked in, surrounding Elder Thomas. The elder looked all around him and the man sighed in defeat. Nicona told me, “His bear says that he wanted complete control over the kingdom’s finances. He didn’t think King Parker and our mate would ever notice that he had full control.” I laughed, “Elder Thomas, did you really think they would never check your work?” Elder Thomas smirked, “In the twenty years that I was doing it, they never checked my work.” Luke added, “Then I decided to get the ledger to check on you.” Elder Thomas scowled, “You had your head so far up your mate’s ass you wouldn’t have noticed any of my entries.” Luke scowled, “I was determined to find her, but I was not unaware of the suspicious way you were acting. Don’t think I didn’t notice you and Emma whispering in your office as

Luke and I smiled at his dad and I nodded, “Thank you, my king. I promise to do my best for you and make you proud.” King Parker chuckled, “I have no doubt that you will. For now, let’s take that tour of the castle.” Luke and I held hands as his father walked us through the castle, showing us all the most important rooms. At one point, Parker opens a door to reveal a modern office with a wall full of windows explaining, “This is Luke’s office for when he’s working here.” I stepped in and saw that there was a second office desk with computer and printer. He smiled, “As soon as I found out that my son found his mate, I furnished his office with another office space.” I smiled, “Thank you. It’s perfect. I love it.” He smiled, “You are very welcome. I’m glad you like it.” Then he walked us to another wing of the castle. He opens the double doors and smiles, “This is the private wing that you two will have when you have to stay here with us for work or safety.” I nodded, “I would love to c

We finished visiting with Parker and Zara, then we went home. As soon as we got home, I called my grandma and she answered on the second ring, “Hello?” I smiled lovingly, “Hey grandma. How’s everyone doing?” She replied, “We’re all okay. Are you okay?” I could tell she was concerned about why I’m calling by the tone of her voice, so I replied, “I’m fine. I just wanted to let you know that you will be getting an invitation to my crowning ceremony. I would also like for you to come up a couple days early so that you and I can cook for Luke’s parents. I’ve tried telling them that nobody leaves your table less than miserable. His mom took it as a challenge.” Grandma laughed her boisterous laugh then answered, “Of course we will come early. I would love to meet them.” I smiled, “Sweet! I can’t wait to see you again. I love you so much.” Grandma replied, “I love you too, sweetie. You take care of that big strong man. I can tell he is crazy about you.” I chuckled, “He’s absolutely perfect, gr

Elisa answered, “No, but I did just get off the phone with Alpha Marcus and I was wondering if you would like to join me in this rescue.” I smiled, “You are so sweet to ask, but I doubt that I have any talents that you could use.” She argued, “Actually, I could use your Omega powers. We are going to have a bunch of panicky women that will need to stay calm during the rescue so we can catch the guys who kidnapped them and, ultimately, the person who ordered it.” I smiled, “I would love to. I’m sure Luke could help too.” She agreed, “We could always use a guy with muscle and magic.” I laughed, “I’m sure I can arrange that.” She chuckled, “Sweet. We will be there in ten minutes to teleport you.” I smiled, “Okay. We’ll be ready.” I ended the call and turned to Luke, “We have ten minutes to get ready. We are going to be helping Elisa and Elliot on this rescue. I’m not going to have time to finish cooking supper. I can do it when we get back Is that okay with you?” He hugged me close and ki

Alpha Terrence replied, “You have no idea what I can do.” Alpha Nico motioned for four warriors to come forward, “Take him to the dungeons. These ladies don’t need to see him.” The warriors dragged him kicking and screaming to the dungeons while we gave our statements to Alpha Nico. When we were done with the statements, we took the ladies, and the bodies of the deceased ones, to their home pack. Alpha Marcus thanked us and we left. When we got back home, I started cooking dinner again and Luke asked, “Are you okay?” I nodded, “Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just concerned about what was happening with those ladies. I keep trying to imagine the horrors they went through because an alpha just wanted a submissive woman underneath him.” Luke sighed as he hugged me from behind, “I can’t imagine it, and I don’t want to. I also don’t want you to. Those women are safe now and Alpha Terrence will be put to death, thanks to all of us. That’s what matters now.” I agreed, “It is nice to know that he will d

I was trying to get more work done when Luke stood behind me and started watching what I was doing. I wanted to try to get totally caught up today because I wanted to reduce the amount of paperwork that would be waiting for me when we get home from our trip. As I enjoyed his close proximity to me, I looked up and asked, “What’s up?” He chuckled at me, “Nothing. I was just wondering when you are going to be done.” Then he blushed and continued, “I’m kinda getting hungry.” I looked at the time and gasped, “Six pm! Why didn’t you say something earlier? I’m so sorry. I guess I just got carried away with this.” He laughed at me, “You are so cute. I love how you want to take care of me, but it’s okay. I can just put a frozen pizza in the oven.” I wrinkled my nose, “Save those for when I’m not here. I’ll make some chicken parmesan. It will be done within a half hour.” He furrowed his brow, “Are you sure?” I nodded, “Definitely.” I stood up from my desk and walked to the kitchen. I was never

Good grief! The last two days have been a blur of activity. We spent all day yesterday shopping for the trip, then emptying the refrigerator. I did not want to come home to fuzzy stuff in my fridge. That’s just nasty. Luke laughed at my attitude toward it but understood when I explained my reasoning. By the time I finished explaining, he was helping me. After that was done, we went to Canon City and shopped for some formal wear as well as clothes to wear for anything else. Yesterday, we spent the day packing and catching up with work. I sighed in relief when everything was packed and we were done making sure all of our work was done. We went to Zuccaro’s for supper last night to keep from having to clean the kitchen. When we walked in, we immediately saw Cody and Rachel sitting at a table. We walked up behind them and Luke poked Rachel’s ribs while I covered Cody’s eyes with my hands. Rachel screamed and Cody asked as he covered my hands with his, “Hmm… is this the newest princess in

When we got back on the road I asked, “What pack are we staying with?” Luke replied, “We are heading to a pack in the swamplands called The Nightfall Pack. The Alpha’s name is Blaze Helsing, Junior.” I furrowed my brows, “Alpha Blaze… that name sounds so familiar. I picked up my phone and called my grandma. She answered on the first ring, “Hey sweetie. How’s my girl?” I replied, “Hey grandma. We are in Florida, on our way to help a wolf pack and weregator kingdom with a poaching problem with Chloe. The name of the pack and the alpha sound so familiar to me, and I can’t place it.” Grandma asked, “What is the name of the Alpha?” I smiled, “Alpha Blaze Helsing Junior.” I heard grandma chuckle, “Sweetie, we helped his father after his beta and his mate tried to overthrow him. His mother was the special wolf, Zayna, from Alpha Gabriel’s pack who taught Kayla and me how to use our powers.” I opened my mouth in surprise, “That’s why the name sounded familiar. I will have to ask how his parent

King Mateo smiled at me, “It’s good to see our tiny Sylvie Rose all grown up. How is life treating you, little one?” I sighed at his nickname for me, “Life is great. I have an amazing mate who is my true mate. He would die before he let anything happen to me.” King Mateo responded, “He’s your true mate? Not just your fated mate?” I nodded, “Yep. We complement each other in every way. Especially in our magic. He can control most elements, except earth. Earth is my specialty. It seems his strengths are my weaknesses and vice versa.” King Mateo smiled, “I’m glad you’re happy with him.” I rubbed my hands together, grinning, “Now I have one question.” King Mateo chuckled, “I did not bring Hugo.” I immediately pouted and he chuckled, “I brought his son, Bruno. We didn’t even know he had kids, then one day, he walks this little gator right up to us. My mate went to play ball with Hugo, but Bruno immediately took over.” I asked, “Is Hugo alright?” King Mateo’s face turned into a somber look a

I added, “I would like to spend this afternoon in the human town to see what we could do to improve the relationship. There may be a business that you can start that would help the city. I would just like to walk into that meeting with some ideas.” Chloe agreed, “Me too. I think we should make an afternoon of it.” I nodded, “Exactly. We should keep a close eye on the businesses as we look. We don’t want to do anything that they already have.” Chloe added, “And we need to look at the park to see if there is anything we can add to it.” After Alpha Blaze called the meeting to an end, he told everyone, “We will have a special semi-formal dinner tonight to introduce you all to my pack.” I nodded in acknowledgement to him and Chloe and I went outside to get in her SUV with one of each of our warriors and drove to town with a carload of our warriors following us. I turned to Chloe and asked, “How have the other packs that you’ve helped succeeded in stopping the poaching?” Chloe shrugged, “T
