Chapter 1

Nova's POV It was mid afternoon and the sun shone beautifully through the canopy of trees. My father Adam and I walked to the training area in the secluded piece of woods that hid our home from watching eyes. Dad wouldn't allow me or my siblings to venture out. I didn’t mind all too much as I had books to read and my parents kept me busy. Of course I wish I had some friends but I understand their point. They say that the world is full of dangers and it was for my own good. My father has many enemies. Both the families of the supernaturals he killed and the organization that ordered those kills. According to him even when I got my wolf at sixteen she wouldn't be able to protect me in all situations. That's why he trained me everyday, so I could protect myself. He grew up as a hunter and not just any hunter he was a member of one of their top families. Apparently my grandfather who I have obviously never met is one of 7 seated members on the Council that rules over the Order of Orion

Chapter 2

When I heard Sofia scream all my instincts told me to run to her and take her to safety. However my brain kicked in just in time. I realized that my parents were supposed to be with her. Therefore it was probably not a good idea to run in half cocked without a plan. My mom always told me to think before acting. With this in mind I made sure I was armed with as many concoctions and weapons as possible. I wasn't sure what kind of enemy I was facing so I used a concoction that would mask my scent and dipped my daggers into poisons that would work on various opponents. I began carefully making my way to the house where it sounded like a fight was breaking out. I heard glass breaking, grunts of pain and many loud voices. Despite doing my best to handle this situation logically I could feel how unsteady my hands were. I trained excessively but had never been in a real true fight. We had always been well hidden and no one had ever found us..... until now. I climbed a nearby try that was c

Chapter 3

I was aware that I had roughly five minutes till they started wondering where their companion was so I needed to be quick. I slunk my way around the corner of the the house using a rose bush as cover and saw another hunter. They were pacing back and forth military style. I waited till they came to my end just by the rose bush and when they weren't looking poked them gently with my dagger on their wrist. I was careful to pull it back and quietly hide. My plan was very risky but I was hoping they would only think they had nicked themselves on a rose thorn. If they looked too closely they would definitely see me. I crossed my fingers and prayed to any god or goddess I could think of. They quickly looked at their wrist and glared in my direction. I thought I was caught but they began muttering something about dumb overrated flowers before continuing their path. My plan had worked. In roughly three minutes they should be feeling weak, unable to move in six minutes and be dead in about ten

Chapter 4

Still holding a crying baby Richard I watched in shock as my mother’s body fell on top of the hunter who shot her. I say him turn towards me with his gun and in auto pilot I jumped out the same window I had previously came in from.I felt like a damn coward but I couldn’t fight reliably with baby Richard there as a possible casualty if things went south. I ran as fast as I could to the training grounds and hid Richard in the weapons shed. I ran towards where my Dad was previously before hiding behind at tree.I noticed that he killed an opponent since I last saw him so he was currently dealing with the two that remained. Despite having taken one of them out I saw that my Dad wasn’t going to win without help. He had various bruises and cuts that I prayed were free of poison. Also I was unable to see if he had sustained worse internal injuries from this distance. I could also see tears and rage in my father’s eyes. He must have felt the mate bond break and was fuelled by rage. While this

Adam’s POVI was both physically and emotionally exhausted. My mate was gone and the world felt empty. But I turned around anyway and comforted Sofia. She was distraught and bawling. Once I crouched down to embrace her she jumped into my arms with a death grip. I wished I had been able to take my enemies down faster but I had been limited. TWO HOURS EARLIER After taking Nova to the training grounds I had been planning to go home and cook dinner. When I arrived I saw Sofia sitting on a grey boulder in the yard watching something on the ground giggling away like children sometimes do. Sofia jumped off and ran to me pulling me in the direction of her rocky perch.“Daddy come!” She yelled authoritatively. How could I say no? She looked adorable with her stubborn little face. I could never say no to any of my children or my lovely wife Nathalia.Every morning I made her coffee despite not drinking it myself just to see the breathtaking smile on her face. I found it hard to believe there w

Chapter 6

Adam’s POVAs I was setting the table Nathalia ran out of the bedroom having extradited herself from Richard. I could both sense and see the the distress on her face. I didn’t have a wolf so the abilities usually synonymous with the bond were not as strong, such as being emotionally linked I still felt it. It was more subdued and unless I was concentrating it was hard for me to read her or her wolf’s emotions. “What’s the matter my love? Is something wrong with Richard?” I asked. She spoke barely above a whisper, “ I hear people coming. They are trying to be quiet but I can barely make out their voices and caught a few words…. Adam. They said your name and mentioned the Order. I don’t know for sure if they are talking about the The Order of Orion but….”All I could think was fuck. We had managed to stay hidden nearly 18 years in our secluded forest. We were so careful and didn’t even pay any companies for utilities. We got our water from a well and used generators I picked up every f

Chapter 7

Adam’s POV We had been lucky enough to find a safe place to make a home. Perhaps in recent years I’ve become complacent when we weren’t discovered. However that did not matter right now.“How long do we have?” Nathalia said, “Not long.”I thought for a second before telling her my plan. I wanted her to get Richard and hide in our attic. We have a door in the ceiling that is invisible to the naked eye. As long as Richard doesn’t wake up it should be relatively safe. Next I wanted her to shift so she would be prepared if they did find her. I would go outside to get Sofia and warn Nova. Once I got Nova I could have her guard Sofia while I got more weapons and maybe some poisons. Before taking out our enemies, from there we could plan our next move. I could tell the only reasons Nathalia agreed was because we didn’t have time to argue and we couldn’t leave Richard unprotected or bring him with us into battle. He would be a weakness the Hunter’s would happily exploit. After all he is th

Nova POV“It is safe now Sofia. The mean men are all gone. Can you wait for Nova at the training grounds? I need to speak to her?,” Dad gently told Sofia. She slowly looked around before standing up and following his instructions. Dad hesitated as she walked away and shouted, “ Sofia I want you to know I love you.” “Dad! What happened? Why didn’t they use poison on you? How did the Order find us in the first place?” My dad let out a heavy breath before turning to me and saying, “ I don’t know. But we have much to discuss and little time to do so.”Confused I asked him, “ Why don’t we have time?”“I have a theory as to why they didn’t use poison.I feel that they may have thought poison in my case would be a waste. They had been planning to kill your mother. When a member or a marked and mated pair dies the one left behind is significantly weakened. Usually causing depression and sometimes death from the breaking of the bond. This last symptom is rare but not unheard of. Usually mates

Chapter 9

All I wanted to do was curl into a ball and continue to cry my eyes out but I couldn’t. Richard and Sofia needed me. The first thing I did was get money from the safe as I had been told. Then I packed a a small bag of clothes, weapons and other necessities for me and my siblings. I also made sure to grab a few pictures of my parents as it would be all I could remember them by. I didn’t spend too much time looking at them and also avoided looking at my mothers body. I couldn’t afford to do either because if I did I would break down and be no use to anyone. I was about to start pouring gasoline to prep the house for a fire when I saw Floofy-Miss-Floofyness. It was a dumb pink dear stuffy that kind of resembled a marshmallow. Sofia couldn’t sleep without it and Mom had made it for her. Even though it wasn’t a necessity I decided to make an exception. She had lost enough tonight, we all had, she didn’t need to loose this too. After I finished pouring the gasoline I dropped several lit m

Chapter 10

THREE YEARS LATERLife after my parents died was hard. Being a 15 year old halfbreed, who had yet to get her wolf who now had to raise her younger siblings. Not impossible, just a hell of a lot more difficult. It definitely helped when my wolf Elly entered the picture. She was strong. Not surprising considering I carried beta blood. We began eating better as she could hunt faster than me. The heightened senses also made it harder for others to surprise us. We had many run-ins with rogues. Most were hostile, but a few were good honest people. We began travelling together and slowly we became a family. A pack. Eventually we found a relatively safe place to settle and begin a new life. We built houses, a school and even a hospital. Our number was made up of all kinds. It was mostly werewolves, but we also had quite a few vampires, witches and surprisingly a few hunters. Most of the supernaturals left due to corrupt leadership, being born rogue or being falsely accused. A good friend of
