Still holding a crying baby Richard I watched in shock as my mother’s body fell on top of the hunter who shot her. I say him turn towards me with his gun and in auto pilot I jumped out the same window I had previously came in from.

I felt like a damn coward but I couldn’t fight reliably with baby Richard there as a possible casualty if things went south. I ran as fast as I could to the training grounds and hid Richard in the weapons shed. I ran towards where my Dad was previously before hiding behind at tree.

I noticed that he killed an opponent since I last saw him so he was currently dealing with the two that remained. Despite having taken one of them out I saw that my Dad wasn’t going to win without help. He had various bruises and cuts that I prayed were free of poison. Also I was unable to see if he had sustained worse internal injuries from this distance. I could also see tears and rage in my father’s eyes. He must have felt the mate bond break and was fuelled by rage. While this gave him extra strength, it also made his fighting style impulsive and a little sloppy.

I was brainstorming where to hide Richard so I could help Dad protect Sofia when the hunter who killed my mother came over to join his friends.

“ They have an older daughter as well. I managed to kill this traitors werewolf bitch but the kid escaped with her baby brother. The kid even managed to kill Jordan. I suspect she also killed everyone else as Hank was dead on the ground and Jake is missing!,” the hunter yelled at his comrades.

I saw some relief on Dad’s face when he realized me and my brother were presumably safe but it was short lived as he still needed to keep Sofia safe. While the hunters had their attention divided between the fight and what their friend told them I climbed to tree I had been hiding behind and pulled out my bow. I quickly lined up my first shot and managed to his the hunter to my dad’s left right through the throat causing the other hunters to panic and look around.

I purposely wanted to use a bow instead of a gun to make my location harder to find as it would make less sound. My father took the distraction as the hunter I shot went down, to deal a fatal blow to his remaining opponent by stabbing him in the chest where his heart is located. I notched another arrow and shot the jerk who called my mother a bitch before he could attack my father.

Seeing that we had seemingly taken down our enemies I jumped down from the tree bending, my knees to break the fall, before running straight to my dad who was trying to comfort Sofia.

Adam’s POVI was both physically and emotionally exhausted. My mate was gone and the world felt empty. But I turned around anyway and comforted Sofia. She was distraught and bawling. Once I crouched down to embrace her she jumped into my arms with a death grip. I wished I had been able to take my enemies down faster but I had been limited. TWO HOURS EARLIER After taking Nova to the training grounds I had been planning to go home and cook dinner. When I arrived I saw Sofia sitting on a grey boulder in the yard watching something on the ground giggling away like children sometimes do. Sofia jumped off and ran to me pulling me in the direction of her rocky perch.“Daddy come!” She yelled authoritatively. How could I say no? She looked adorable with her stubborn little face. I could never say no to any of my children or my lovely wife Nathalia.Every morning I made her coffee despite not drinking it myself just to see the breathtaking smile on her face. I found it hard to believe there w

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 6

Adam’s POVAs I was setting the table Nathalia ran out of the bedroom having extradited herself from Richard. I could both sense and see the the distress on her face. I didn’t have a wolf so the abilities usually synonymous with the bond were not as strong, such as being emotionally linked I still felt it. It was more subdued and unless I was concentrating it was hard for me to read her or her wolf’s emotions. “What’s the matter my love? Is something wrong with Richard?” I asked. She spoke barely above a whisper, “ I hear people coming. They are trying to be quiet but I can barely make out their voices and caught a few words…. Adam. They said your name and mentioned the Order. I don’t know for sure if they are talking about the The Order of Orion but….”All I could think was fuck. We had managed to stay hidden nearly 18 years in our secluded forest. We were so careful and didn’t even pay any companies for utilities. We got our water from a well and used generators I picked up every f

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 7

Adam’s POV We had been lucky enough to find a safe place to make a home. Perhaps in recent years I’ve become complacent when we weren’t discovered. However that did not matter right now.“How long do we have?” Nathalia said, “Not long.”I thought for a second before telling her my plan. I wanted her to get Richard and hide in our attic. We have a door in the ceiling that is invisible to the naked eye. As long as Richard doesn’t wake up it should be relatively safe. Next I wanted her to shift so she would be prepared if they did find her. I would go outside to get Sofia and warn Nova. Once I got Nova I could have her guard Sofia while I got more weapons and maybe some poisons. Before taking out our enemies, from there we could plan our next move. I could tell the only reasons Nathalia agreed was because we didn’t have time to argue and we couldn’t leave Richard unprotected or bring him with us into battle. He would be a weakness the Hunter’s would happily exploit. After all he is th

Nova POV“It is safe now Sofia. The mean men are all gone. Can you wait for Nova at the training grounds? I need to speak to her?,” Dad gently told Sofia. She slowly looked around before standing up and following his instructions. Dad hesitated as she walked away and shouted, “ Sofia I want you to know I love you.” “Dad! What happened? Why didn’t they use poison on you? How did the Order find us in the first place?” My dad let out a heavy breath before turning to me and saying, “ I don’t know. But we have much to discuss and little time to do so.”Confused I asked him, “ Why don’t we have time?”“I have a theory as to why they didn’t use poison.I feel that they may have thought poison in my case would be a waste. They had been planning to kill your mother. When a member or a marked and mated pair dies the one left behind is significantly weakened. Usually causing depression and sometimes death from the breaking of the bond. This last symptom is rare but not unheard of. Usually mates

All I wanted to do was curl into a ball and continue to cry my eyes out but I couldn’t. Richard and Sofia needed me. The first thing I did was get money from the safe as I had been told. Then I packed a a small bag of clothes, weapons and other necessities for me and my siblings. I also made sure to grab a few pictures of my parents as it would be all I could remember them by. I didn’t spend too much time looking at them and also avoided looking at my mothers body. I couldn’t afford to do either because if I did I would break down and be no use to anyone. I was about to start pouring gasoline to prep the house for a fire when I saw Floofy-Miss-Floofyness. It was a dumb pink dear stuffy that kind of resembled a marshmallow. Sofia couldn’t sleep without it and Mom had made it for her. Even though it wasn’t a necessity I decided to make an exception. She had lost enough tonight, we all had, she didn’t need to loose this too. After I finished pouring the gasoline I dropped several lit m

THREE YEARS LATERLife after my parents died was hard. Being a 15 year old halfbreed, who had yet to get her wolf who now had to raise her younger siblings. Not impossible, just a hell of a lot more difficult. It definitely helped when my wolf Elly entered the picture. She was strong. Not surprising considering I carried beta blood. We began eating better as she could hunt faster than me. The heightened senses also made it harder for others to surprise us. We had many run-ins with rogues. Most were hostile, but a few were good honest people. We began travelling together and slowly we became a family. A pack. Eventually we found a relatively safe place to settle and begin a new life. We built houses, a school and even a hospital. Our number was made up of all kinds. It was mostly werewolves, but we also had quite a few vampires, witches and surprisingly a few hunters. Most of the supernaturals left due to corrupt leadership, being born rogue or being falsely accused. A good friend of

NOVA’S POVBEEP BEEP BEEP BEEPI barely opened my eyes before once again shutting of my alarm. It was only 530 am and I didn’t need to get Sofia and Richard ready for school yet. If I was quick I would have time and frankly I wanted more shut eye.Stupid Clayton. He kept me up all night gushing about an invention Alexia made with her magic. It’s a thin copper coloured chain that apparently allows hunters and witches to join our pack link. It is also specially coded to each members DNA to keep enemies from stealing it.I’ve got to admit it sounds awesome. However would it hurt him to talk to me about it when the sun is up? I’ve got a seven year old and a three year old to take care of. But no him and his half nocturnal ass need to keep me awake too. He’s my best friend and Alpha but he’s also a huge fucking jackass. I was drifting back to sleep as I heard Richard’s voice in the room next to me. “Nona!!!!! I’m stuck! Nona help!”I reluctantly left my warm comfy bed before releasing my

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 12

Nova’s POVOur pack house wasn’t as large as most pack houses, but our pack also wasn’t very large yet. I felt like this would probably change as we were getting new members regularly. After all most packs assumed all rogues were blood thirsty criminals. It was even rarer for a pack to admit multiple species. This made our pack a safe haven for any rogue supernatural or hunter who just wanted home.Sure some more progressive packs would let someone of a different species join but only if their mate was in the pack. However, Most packs would kick out members who had a mate from a different species though. What a load of shit! Every time I thought about that and how most of our members had been rogues for that exact reason it pissed me off!The pack house was roughly the size of a church. It had an open concept living and dining room with stairs leading up to the Alpha residence. Through a door off the dining room you had to cut through the kitchen to reach the offices of our ranked mem

NOVA’S POVOnce I found Alpha Clayton a silly grin broke out on my face. Clayton had him tied to a pole with his hand behind his back. Even more comical Jon was as naked as the day he was born. Unsurprising he was not what you would call well endowed. He also had what appeared to be his own boxes in his mouth as a gag!“Having fun without me?” I asked Alpha Clayton.Clayton responded with a deep chuckle before saying, “You took so long I got bored. Now what’s this brilliant plan of yours?”I quickly unslung my backpack and began displaying the supplies I had grabbed. Their was a see through black thong, a garter with knee high socks, a maid style lingerie top complete with an apron. Clayton laughed harder and shook his head when he saw what I brought. He got me this as a joke a year or so ago in response to a monstrous size butt plug I got him. It’s now been an ongoing joke to get these dumb gifts between me, Clayton and Amelia. I had brought it by mistake after

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 34

NOVA’S POVI was nearly in tears with anger as I followed Alpha Clayton’s scent. How dare he speak to me that way! I’m his Mate not his fucking slave! Also I more than earned my position as Beta. As I thought more about this one comment made by Alpha Jerk-face, aka my Mate, my thoughts became more and more intrusive. What if I’m wrong? Maybe I really am weak? My Mate did need to save me from those two Alpha’s after all….Elly spoke up in my mind, “That’s enough. First of all Alpha Clayton and Alpha Xavier would never give anyone such a high position due to nepotism. He cares too much for the pack to do something like that. Secondly their isn’t a wolf in our pack that is stronger than you aside from our Alpha. This alone shows that you have more than earned being a Beta. Not only that but our Mate and his wolf are going to have another thing coming if he thinks we will put up with being treated like property! If he continues with this we can easy reject him!”A

Harvey’s POV Nova slapped me! I could hardly believe it. I was only explaining why what she was doing was wrong! ‘It doesn’t make sense…’Echo told me.‘I know! Why is she so angry, we were only speaking the truth!”‘That’s not what I mean,’ Echo continued. ‘You may not know this but the reason most she-wolves are submissive to their Mates is that their inner wolf wants to submit. If the she-wolf is rebelling against their Mate, they are also in hot water with their wolf. It is against their nature. Just like a male-wolf feels the pull to protect their mate, a she-wolfs instincts are to obey.”‘I agree that it’s strange that she’s resisting her wolf but like you said it’s not necessary unheard of. I just don’t know why this was her hill to die on. Her wolf might not even allow her to shift while giving her the silent treatment. I was only telling her the truth for Goddess’s sake!”Echo said, ‘That’s not what’s so weird about thi

NOVA’S POVI practically flew through the halls of silver and gold. Past paintings, decorative tables and more than a few confused people. The look on the face of one lady made my day.I had turned the corner and ended up right in front of her before quickly dancing around her. She looked at me like I had grown three heads! I didn’t spare her more than a half hearted apology as I rushed to my room as fast as my legs would carry me.Finally after several minutes of running and many insults thrown my way I was in my room. I quickly grabbed the most embarrassing shit I could find along with other essentials and threw them into a small backpack. Once again I ran, but this time back to where I started. I found Paul and the rest of his party still there without Jon. Paul stopped me before I could follow Alpha Clayton’s scent. He spoke to me in a cautious tone, “ Look Nova. I know that Jon was being rude but is all this worth it? I had to mind-link Alpha Harvey to inf

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 31

NOVA’S POVPersonally I hated this piece of shit who calls himself Jon. But we were in foreign territory. This meant that no matter how much I wanted to kill him, or watch Clayton kill him, it would most likely most likely come back to bite us and our pack in the ass.Reluctantly I put my hand on Clayton’s shoulder to get his attention. Clayton turned around to meet my eyes. For those who hadn’t seen him angry before I had to admit it was a terrible sight. His rage filled eyes were a dark blood red colour. His inch and a half long fangs, that usually weren’t there, had grown in response to the emotionally charged situation. When he noticed it was me his eyes softened slightly.Alpha Clayton had both werewolf and vampire blood so his inner beast was a hybrid. So when he got pissed enough his wolf/ vampire would surface. As a result Alpha Clayton’s wolf Xavier was a bit different than most wolves. He was much more cruel. Alpha Xavier spoked to me i

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 30

NOVA’S POVWHAT THE HELL! No fucking way was I going to have bodyguards! Yes I got into a fight and was injured, but that didn’t mean I was some delicate flower! I could take the heat without wilting!I looked Paul in the eyes before getting into him. “Like Hell! I won’t be followed around by a bunch of glorified babysitters! Does Harvey think so little of me that he won’t even trust me with my own safety?! If he honestly thinks I’ll go along with this shit he’s sadly mistaken! He didn’t even have the balls to tell me himself! I refuse to be treated like some little twit that can’t handle herself!”I knew I was being a little unfair to Paul but I was pissed. Unfortunately for him the person I was actually mad at was absent. One of the babysitters spoke up rather angrily, “Who do you think you are! As the mate of an Alpha you should just do as he says. After all women are meant to be kind or gentle. As a women you shouldn’t fight at all.

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 29

NOVA’S POV Harvey left shortly after making sure I was alright. I wasn’t sure how I felt about this. On one hand he did rush in to protect me, even if no protection was actually necessary. This should mean he accepts me as his Mate. However, he also left very quickly when he realized I was safe. It was almost like he didn’t want to be around me. This behaviour made me afraid that he is disappointed I’m part Hunter. Harvey didn’t act this way in our previous encounters. Maybe he just had something to take care of and I was simply jumping to conclusions. I decided to go with this option in my mind. It was definitely my most desired explanation at least. It was just me and Clayton now. He gave me an apologetic look before telling me, “ I’m sorry.”“Why are you apologizing?”Clayton answered gently, “ I’m your Alpha.” He momentarily paused before continuing in a more aggravated tone, “ It is my responsibility to protect my pack but I was fucking useless w

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 28

HARVEY’S POVMe and Echo were for once in complete agreement as I rushed towards Nova’s scream. I imagined a million scenarios of what could be happening and what would happen to the person or people responsible. I bulldozed through the door right before Alpha Clayton. I saw Nova on the bed. She looked as white as a sheet, almost like she saw a ghost. Her eyes were moving the same way a hunted animals did when they realized they were about to die. My hackles continued to rise. I could physically see and even smell Nova’s fear. Knowing that MY Mate was afraid made me feel bloodthirsty in a unprecedented way. What was worse is that I couldn’t even identify the threat! I suppressed the urge to growl before asking Nova in the gentlest voice I could currently muster, “ We heard you scream. What happened?”Nova had now seemingly calmed down but at my question her cheeks immediately turned as red as an apple. She was even looking down at her lap. Why was she acting like this? I just wanted

  • The Hunter Wolf   Chapter 27

NOVA’S POVI could feel the wind in my fur and see the warm rays on sunlight reflecting off the leaves. Beside me was my mother’s wolf running with me. I had always wanted to do this with my Mom since I was child. She always looked so completely free when she ran.Too bad we could never do this. But that doesn’t make sense. We were running together now so why would a thought like that pop into my head? That’s when the forest seemed to darken almost immediately. The forest that was once beautiful and inviting had now become eerie. The leaves had disappeared from the trees. The ground was free of any sign on life. There wasn’t even a single hint that any animals would be around. The sky was the colour of blood, the sun that had previously brought a sense of security was now replaced with a moon of redder even than the sky that only seemed to make me feel uneasy.I turned to my mother to see if she could explain what had just happened. But as soon as my eyes
