Chapter 31

Adam POV “Who are you?” Jenna asks. I am confused and stare at her. Is she serious or is she messing with me? Her mother looks at me and then at her daughter. I mind-link the doctor to get here immediately. Luna Ashley takes Jenna’s hand, “How do you feel sweetheart?” she asks Jenna. “I have a headache and I am thirsty, but I think I am okay,” she replies to her mother while watching me cautiously. My heart is breaking at the thought that she doesn’t know who I am. I step forward and take her hand. I still feel the sparks there and from the look on her face, she feels those same sparks. “You have been visiting me. Why?” she asks. I am quickly realizing she is remembering pieces of her past but not all. Doctor Rivers rushes in moving Jenna’s mother out of the way so he can check Jenna over. He does a thorough exam asking Jenna various questions to test her memory. I see a look of concern cross his face as he wonders about her rememberi

Chapter 32

Jenna POV I had awoken to a stranger beside my bed. I did not know who he was or what he wanted. I knew when he touched me, I felt sparks, but what did that mean? I knew I had a head injury, from the doctor who came in and spoke to me. I didn’t understand how it had happened and I understood why the doctor wasn’t wanting to tell me too much of what I had experienced. It would go against protocol for any type of head injury with a short-term memory loss. He was accurate in what he was telling me. Something about the guy confused me. I realized I had not even got his name from him. As he walks out of my room, I look to my parents, “I want to go home,” I say to them. They both look at me sadly. “That would not be right baby girl,” my mother replies to me. “What do you mean?” I ask her confused. Why wouldn’t they take me home? “Jenna, your place is here with your mate,” my father says. “I don’t know him. He is a complete stranger to me.

Chapter 33

Adam POV “Why haven’t you marked me yet?” Jenna asks me. Talk about tough questions right out of the gate. I knew it was a reasonable question. Most Alphas were very possessive and marked their mate within days, if not within hours, of meeting their fated mate. In my case, I was an ass who fucked everything up and was left now trying to explain that without divulging too much information that might cause more damage. “We were not ready yet,” I reply to Jenna as she stares at me. “Not to sound like a two-year-old, but why were we not ready?” she asks. “Jenna, you know I cannot share much about what you don’t remember. It will suffice to say I made some mistakes early in our relationship and I am trying to make amends for them now,” I reply to her. She simply looks at me for moments. Staring. And then finally looks away. “Well, if you will not tell me, I guess you get a clean slate … until I remember,” she says with conviction. Nodding my

Chapter 34

Jenna POV Adam had a secret that he was not sharing with me. I was tired and not sure I cared at the moment about it. I loved being in his arms. I felt safe, secure, and warm. Yes warm. The sparks bouncing between us, and the mate bond were definitely inducing warmth throughout my body. I do not know how we have not been together yet, but it was definitely top of mind for me. Being in his arms was divine. He smelled amazing. A combination of pine and vanilla. And his muscles. He was so strong. I knew I was not a big she-wolf, but I felt secure with him. As we walked across the parking lot, he said hello to Pack members along the way. Most were just smiling away at the antics of their Alpha carrying his Luna. Luna. I had never really considered my ranking in a Pack. I had always been focused on a medical career and I still was. I simply had other priorities that came to mind as I thought about Adam and the Pack. I cannot remember th

Chapter 35

Adam POV “Stay?” Jenna asks me. There is nothing I want more than to crawl into bed and just hold her. It was what I had been dreaming of hearing from her for more than a week. But I had work to do, and I knew it was wrong to take advantage of her. Taking hold of the hand that was holding my arm, I sit down beside her on the bed. “Jenna, I would love to crawl into that bed with you, but I have work I must see to,” I say to her. I see the disappointment cross her face and it pains me to know I am the cause of it. “I understand,” she murmurs moving to roll over. I stop her and place a soft kiss on her lips. She opens her mouth and slides her tongue into my mouth. Sliding my tongue across hers, I relish in the taste of my mate. Our kiss deepens as she sits up and we are fighting for dominance. I feel her hands move to my chest, wanting to touch my skin. I can feel her hand inch down toward the hem of my shirt before I realize what is happe

Chapter 36

Jenna POV I woke much later in the day. From outside I could see darkness had fallen and nobody had come to wake me up. I felt much more refreshed and starving. Rolling over I look around the room. Aside from the light beside my bed being on, the room was in darkness. Getting up I needed to use the washroom and brush my teeth. Looking at myself in the mirror, I tossed my hair up into a messy bun before going back to my closet to put some clothes on that would be more suitable for hunting down something to eat. Walking into my closet I saw my things all out and in the right place. Clearly, I had settled into this room, my things were all here. My clothes were all here. Everything from the comfort of my home. I put on some leggings with a sports bra and zipper jacket over it. It was my go-to for casual and comfortable. And right now, I wanted to be comfortable. Stepping out of my closet, I move toward the door heading out into the hall.

Chapter 37

Jenna POV Adam had walked me back to my room after I had eaten supper along with a couple cupcakes. He had gently kissed me on my lips, before stepping back and letting me go into my room. While I felt frustrated at his lack of enthusiasm to be with me, I had to respect he was not rushing me. And maybe there was a reason we should wait until, hopefully, my memories come back to me. And if they do not come back to me, I may have to accost him myself, I think with a chuckle. Crawling back into bed, I don’t bother to change. I feel like I used all my energy eating and talking to Adam. I was excited about seeing what they had to offer at the hospital. I did want to finish my studies, but I also wanted to be a good Luna for the Red Pine Pack. I had to keep reminding myself of the name of the Pack. I had been ensconced in my own Pack for eighteen years, it was hard to think of myself as a new Pack member. Although now that I think about it, I

Chapter 38

Jenna POV “What did they say to you, Jenna?” Adam asks as he and Sam walk up to me. I look at them after watching the three women walk away snickering. “Nothing I can’t handle,” I say to them both. “Jenna, they can’t disrespect their Luna and get away with it,” Adam says trying to encourage me to share what had been said. “It’s fine; if it becomes a problem, I will let you know,” I promise him. He looks at me and I can tell he and Sam are mind-linking. Whatever they do, I hope they don’t make it worse. I am hoping to let it go until I better understand what I have apparently done to piss off Pack members so soon upon my arrival. I knew I could play the role of bitch pretty good, but I usually saved that for those who deserved it. Smiling up at Adam, I shake off the interaction and focus on him. “Are you joining us for breakfast?” I ask Sam. He smirks, “Uh no, I don’t think that is in my plans,” he replies while Adam jumps in, “He has Pack

Chapter 39

Jenna POV Doctor Matthews is very engaging and informative. The hospital offers a variety of areas to specialize if a doctor so chooses. They may also generalize, which has been of interest to me as well. Having a small practice might be the ideal option, as opposed to working mainstream medicine. The exciting thing is they are looking for an intern. Their package is competitive to what I was currently offered, and the work hours would be similar to what Doctor Matthews works, as he is the supervisor for the role. It is amazing how things just fell into place. Perfect, almost too perfect. It made me wonder if Adam had something to do with it being too perfect. I would be checking with him before I accepted any offer they may make. When we were finished discussing the hospital and all it had to offer, Doctor Matthews returned me to the administration area so I could meet up with Adam. Adam was just leaving Josie’s office and if I did not k

Chapter 40

Adam POV Wanting my trackers to hunt down the rogue, I could only focus on the confusion and chaos surrounding me. While wolfsbane would not be lethal in small doses, we could not be certain what had been tossed at me was solely wolfsbane. I could feel some effects of silver in the mix. Sam and another warrior carried me toward the Pack house, getting the doctor on alert to meet us when we arrived. With wolfsbane, I would not be able to shift; if silver was a part of the concoction, I would experience further damage. Both would impact my wolf, Jake. I was thinking of Jenna during this time wanting to make sure was alright. I could not mind-link anyone in my Pack and not being able to speak was causing me increased stress and agitation. Trying to get Sam’s attention was impossible. He was focused on getting his Alpha the medical attention he needed. And the other warriors had remained at the border, hopefully getting the trackers after the
