Chemistry II

Caitlin had no idea what he was talking about, so she ignored his statement, worried that he seemed so distressed over her lack of knowledge of him. She found herself needing to touch his hair with gentle fingers. "Can you use your voice at all for a long time?" She asked, whilst still pondering on the nature of his name, a tactic not to dwell on the enthralling quality of his voice. It sounded like an ancient name of sorts. She wasn't sure of the origin. His eyes answered, impatient, frustrated at his own inability. Her fingertips found his forehead, calming, soothing. "Don't worry. Your body's been through a lot. Give it some time. You're already healing amazingly fast. Do you know who did this to you?"Two humans, one betrayer.Rage welled up, and for a moment red flames glowed in the depths of his black eyes.Caitlin's heart nearly stopped, and she jerked backward to put distance between them. He moved faster, his arm a blur. His fingers circled her wrist, preventing escape. His g

Chemistry III

Why do you not feed? The question was asked casually, curiously. Zendedari's black eyes were thoughtful as he studied Caitlin. From her position of safety across the room, she watched him. The weight of his gaze alone broke her concentration, took her breath away. She was feeling far too possessive of this patient. She had no right to tangle her life around his. It was frightening that she was reacting so uncharacteristically to him. She had always felt aloof, remote, detached from people and things around her. Her analytical mind simply computed facts. But right now, she could think only of him, his pain and suffering, the way his eyes watched her, half-closed, sexy. Caitlin nearly jumped out of her skin. Where had that thought come from?Knowing she wouldn't want to think he was reading her mind at that precise moment, Zendedari did the gentlemanly thing and pretended merely a casual interest. It was nice to know she found him sexy. Smugly he lay back with his eyes closed, long lash

Chemistry IV

It bothered Caitlin the way Zendedari sounded so concerned, almost tender. His voice had a way of making her want to do anything he asked of her, including drinking the blood. She could smell it. She could hear his heart, the rush of blood through his veins. For the space of a heartbeat she allowed the sound to echo in her head, to feed the hunger gnawing at her. She bit down hard on her lower lip. She needed to put a little distance between them. His personality was extremely overpowering. Something deep within her, something wild she hadn't known was a part of her, was calling out to him. The chemistry was so strong, she ached just looking at him. She unbolted the cabin door, began to open it.Stop! The command was soft, menacing, yet she caught the hint of desperation. The door seemed to be jerked out of her hand by some unknown force and slammed closed. Shocked, she dropped the glass in her hand. It smashed on the floor. She watched the apple juice spread out in a golden stain, th

Chemistry V

Zendedari cursed his inability to remember basic things, certain they were of great importance to the two of them. If she was as much in the dark as he was, they were in deep trouble. It was frustrating to have so many gaps in his mind. You are of this land. I feel your connection to this land. I know absolutely that you are mine, that we belong together.Caitlin shook her head. "My mother was Irish. My father was from this region, but I never even knew him. I arrived here for the first time only a couple of months ago. I swear I've never been here before."We do not have a disorder, a disease. Our people have existed as they are from the dawn of time.He did not know where that piece of information came from. It was simply there."But that's impossible. People do not require drinking blood to live. I'm a doctor, Zendedari. I do medical research all the time. I know. This is extremely rare." She could feel her breath refusing to leave her lungs. You can accept that I remained buried a

Prison

Olivera's POV:I jerked up my head again at the sound of shuffling feet outside the iron door that seperated I and Jeremy from the outside world. A minute and more passed, there was no sound or indication of the door unlocking. My hope was dashed for the umpteenth time. I was tired of waiting and counting the number of steps made by the shuffling feet of unknown people. Won't they get us out of here? I wondered, rubbing my forehead with the base of my hand gently, massaging it promptly in a bid to stop or reduce the carpenter's workings going on in my head. How long are we going to stay here? I thought, casting a side glance at Jeremy who was staring at me. He has been doing that constantly since those ugly guards had dropped us here. Although I couldn't read minds, I had a slight inkling of what he might be thinking about. When did I and the Alpha become talking pals? Why hadn't he killed me like he would have done to any other slave who would have tried to do the same thing as i ha

Prison II

I sighed, wondering how long Jeremy had kept up the question piling. I wouldn't be surprised if it had been on the tip of his tongue since we had been left in here. But shouldn't he be happy that i saved his life at least? Ungrateful brat. I thought and huffed. So much for being a hero. No thank you, nothing. Perhaps, I should have left him there. I cussed, looking into his eyes, aware that my mind was taunting and laughing at me. Of course, there was no way I would have left my Jeremy there. He was my best friend."Stop glaring at me and give me answers to my questions." Jeremy stated, and I scoffed. He wasn't going to give up anytime soon."Questions? Which one would I start with? You threw a million questions to me, and expect me to start picking them one after the other, dropping their answers at the same time? You must be joking." I said, smirking when he huffed in exasperation. Good. I wasn't going to be the only one that would be frustrated. As a matter of fact, he deserved mo

Drink

Zendedari jerked himself awake ten minutes later, then cursed at the clumsiness that sent pain spiraling through his body. He felt hunger, weakness, a swaying dizziness. Black eyes leapt to Caitlin. She was still peering at a notebook, pencil clenched in her teeth. Her skin was so pale, it was nearly translucent. The intense emotions in the room were hers, yet she seemed not to notice. Her mind fought to merge with his; he could feel it tuning itself, vibrating with need, but she was disciplined, strong, and very determined. She brought her thoughts back under control, focusing on her work.He felt a curious melting in the region of his heart. Ice-cold hatred and fury, the need for revenge, for retribution, had been the force driving him to live. He had not thought himself capable of tenderness, yet she managed to bring it out of him. He was first and always a predator. She was light to his darkness, radiating beauty as if it shone through her skin from her soul. She had introduced ge

Drink II

Caitlin seemed so light, so small and fragile. Zendedari loved the line of her throat, the satin perfection of her skin, her mouth. With one nail he opened a small wound in his heavy muscles, pressed her to him, and felt heat coil unexpectedly deep within him. His gut clenched, and desire shot through him, piercing and sweet. The feel of her mouth on him was erotic. Their minds were merged as he held her. It was an intimacy he was unfamiliar with. In the midst of pain and darkness, hatred and rage, she had brought light, compassion, and courage. Where there was bleak despair and a weak, empty shell, she had given him the beginnings of strength and power, blossoming hope. Where there was endless pain, an eternity of hell, she was bringing beauty, joy, and an intense pleasure he almost could not comprehend. He did not want to end their joining, but he needed every drop of blood to try to heal his broken body and mend his fractured mind. He didn't dare allow her to take too much from hi

Trance

Olivera's POV:Sitting down on the hard floor of this filthy prison cell, I couldn't help but ask myself again and again, how long they were planning to leave us here. Don't tell me it was for all through the night, because I fear that I might be dead before tomorrow. The stench of the room could kill a community. It's been more than thirty minutes since I and Jeremy last spoke. After I had told him that I had gotten the work of a maidservant, he had elapsed in silence. I wonder what he was thinking though. I had been expecting more questions. What in the name of whatever was that stupid Alpha thinking of putting Jeremy and I in this Godforsaken hellhole? I asked myself for the umpteenth, gnashing my teeth as a whiff of the barbaric stench had passed by my nostrils. I could literally taste it. It was that terrible. And why did nobody see the guy I was with? Was he a ghost?I shuddered at the thought, not believing I had been conversing with a dead being. Would Jeremy even believe me

Coward

I and Jeremy followed the guards meekly down the dimly lit hallways which had cracks on its walls, and perhaps shit stains on them. I wouldn't be surprised if animals were really reared here. Or had insane people been kept here? I wondered, walking closely behind Jeremy, and in front of the tallest guard who had spoken to us some minutes ago. A few times, I was tempted to look behind me to behold the man for another time, but for some reason, I couldn't, perhaps for fear of being struck down from behind. Who knows if the Alpha had told them to kill us off as we walked through the hallways. For all I know, they could have been lying when they had mentioned that the Alpha had wanted to see us.Jeremy was lucky though. Lucky in the sense that I was right at his back, so he had the freedom to turn at will and check up on me, stealing a nervous glance rather. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thought was running through our minds. We might be out of the dark smelling prison room, but not
