Part 11

/Axel's POV/  "What do you think about joining me tonight for drinks, Alpha Axel?"The question, almost a hushed whisper, rang in my ears as Lukas gleamed at me. We were on the way to hunt, and the eldest son of Millers wouldn't stop clinging to my side.    Several times I had to remind myself that we would be family soon. His sister is my mate. It's natural for him to want to know me, but there was something off about the Alpha. I could not talk for more than a minute without feeling annoyance building inside.    Looking over my shoulder, I noticed my beta was busy chatting with the guards. No help. I let out a sigh, wetting my bottom lip.     "Afte

Part 12

The Alpha's second gift was a brown jacket, which had a pretty detailing of the dark brown zipper, heavy and fluffy in my hands. If I hadn't recognised it immediately as a jacket Axel had worn on the first day, I'd have recognised it from the thick scent clinging to its fabric–so strong that I could practically smell it through the distance.     He hovered above, waiting for me to try on, standing with his hips cocked and brow arched. I sank on the couch, gripping the material in between my hands. My cheeks flamed as I thought of the marks on my arms, especially the nails marks from my aunt and my cousin.   What would he think? He may despise me even more. It's natural Alphas do not accept a single mark on their omega except the one given by them. Judging by his views, Axel won't be different at all.

Part 13

The garden below my room was almost haunting without the plants fully grown. So I decided to change that. I have been working on it, cleaning up the mess and restoring the area, hoping to have the flowers bloom by next season.     What's the use? I thought under my breath, fully knowing that I would be leaving by the end of this month. As an omega courted by a Pack Alpha, I did not have much time compared to the other omegas.     With my knees digging into the mud, I kept on mixing soil with proper nutrients for the freshly emptied flower beds. My brows furrowed together when I saw a shadow loom over, mouth pressed in a thin line.     It was none other than my uncl

Part 14

/Axel's POV/  I could not sleep, my eyes boring into the ceiling with harsh breath. There was this restlessness inside that I could not explain, my legs itching to get up again and do something after such an eventful day. Eventful. I scoffed under my breath as I thought about it. About her. The reason behind a storm whirling inside of me.    Princess Lana.    A groan slipped past my lips as I slowly sat up, resting against the headrest and bringing a hand to my forehead. I could feel a migraine building behind the temples at the mere thought of the peculiar and infuriating omega. How could she be so casual about courting?     It's a huge deal. Most of the o

Part 15

While walking by his side, I learned quickly that Alpha Axel didn't like to talk very much. We spent the next few minutes walking through the market, the Alpha in front and leading the way with me following behind more hesitantly, my eyes perpetually scanning surroundings to take in new sights.    Along the way, I became familiar with Axel's irritated sigh whenever I stopped to study something, which, to be fair, was quite a lot.    I couldn't help it, though, as everywhere I looked, there was something new. All these years being caged inside my room made me miss out on several things. I had no idea what it felt like going to a market on weekend, hand in hand with a friend or a family member.

Part 16

Axel guided me through the woods as an easy way to reach the Palace. It's eerie, kind of a place written about in gloomy novels. For a second, I expected to smell something foul when we crossed the bridge, but the air remained sharp and crisp, cold enough to burn my throat.     I could feel the familiar coil of disappointment curling in my chest, my body going stiff. I had no other choice but to agree as we had rogues on our tail. The last thing I wanted was my uncle to find out about the incident and get angry.     The paths in the woods had been cleared enough to walk, and there were no mosquitoes or much wildlife anywhere. Silence settled between us, the sound of our footsteps crunching the only noise echoing around.

Part 17

I felt quite inadequate as I walked alongside my aunt with her arms wound around mine. To worsen the bubbly feeling in my belly, I found my waist cinched by a delicate white corset. As a curvy omega, my waist was already pronounced, but the material accentuated them.     I could feel my breasts almost spilling out the bralette, the straps digging into my shoulders. The housekeeper insisted on me sliding on gloves with stars and glitter on them, pairing along a soft lavender balloon gown. My hair was done by professional stylists, few of the strands pinned atop while the remaining curled around the edges.     As I waited to be announced, I felt the butterflies in the pit of my stomach threatening to spill out. The sound of my name was muffled amidst the music and the crow

Part 18

A knot formed in my throat at the sound of the clock ticking, and I struggled to eat a few bites of the food. Beth prepared it with extra care as usual, but nothing could replace a sinking feeling in my stomach.     The silence in my room was almost deafening, broken by the sound of my cutlery hitting the plate, and soon it came close to driving me insane. I gave up on eating and opened the window, hoping that the sounds coming from outside would alleviate my anxiety. No sooner had I unlatched and pulled the window open which I closed it again. Thehowling of the wind, along with the guard's loud movements, was an annoying distraction.   My eyes fell on the large, opened trunks on the floor. They were yet to be packed with all my beloved stuff. I had barely managed to stuff some of my favourite books before having a breakdo

Part 19

The sorrowful look in his eyes betrayed the Alpha, but he nodded. I could not sense anything from him now that my wolf was under. Not that I had a lot of things to work on before hand anyway.     As royals, we both had to rush into taking blessings from our elements, each of them as the witch chanted something under her breath. All the while I could feel several eyes on us, watching with bated breath and giddy smiles. Only if they knew the truth behind the rushed bond, I thought to myself.    Apart from the odd glare and upturn of a chin from my uncle and aunt, the atmosphere was rather peaceful and idyllic for a ceremony. An air of patience and joy filled the air along with the lovely music as the witch formed a halo around us.   "Alpha

Part 20

The momentary peace only lasted me a few short minutes before the heavy wooden door was swinging open. I held my breath, letting in a sliver of light from the hallway, and the fading murmur of voices entered inside. My body froze in the spot, turning to face the door, respect and politeness too ingrained to do otherwise. With acute interest, I watched as an older woman and two other omegas approached me.   "Please welcome Her Royal Highness Luna Annie." The younger omega meekly introduced the woman standing next to her.    Axel's mother. I thought while gaping at her striking features. She was gorgeous, with her hair pulled in a low bun, streaks of grey well hidden in between. Due to the light spilling on her from the ceiling, she appeared angelic, lines marring the side of her face. &nbs
