Heath could see the shock on her face. He had managed to surprise her. Good. If she thought that she could just act like he didn't eist, then she has another thought coming because he will not tolerate that from anyone. “What did you say?” Kimmy asks him, although he knows full well that she heard him the first time. “I am returning to my pack and I would like for you to come with me when I do so,” Heath tells her, keeping his composure. “Why?” Kimmy asks him, her face scrunching up in confusion like a childs. Though he is loathe to admit it, it is actually quite cute. “Because, like it or not, you are my mate. We will eventually have to make decisions regarding that dilema. I suppose it simply just makes sense for you to come to my pack with me and us get to know one another better.” Besides all that, Heath really wanted her far away from this pack in case that Miguel came looking for her again. The way he had watched her and then the attack. There is something off about him,

They left the next day, heading for Heath's pack. Neither one of them are exactly thrilled with the way the situation is so neither one of them is speaking. Kimmy is annoyed and angry at Heath because of how he acted when she brought her bags out to the car earlier. He had seen her four huge bags and her couple of boxes and he had rolled his eyes. Then he had taken them from her and tossed them none too gently in the back. His scornful look at her and at her belongings hurts her feelings. He asked her to come with him. She does not want to come, but she is doing it. For him, for her fathers, and because she is obligated. Not because she wants to. The least that he could do is be nice to her about it. So she brought a bunch of stuff with her? She has some things that she can not live without, things she can not sleep without, and just things that she wants with her. If she is going to spend all her time in a room at his house, she wants that room to be comfortable for her. She ca

Heath finds her down the road on the phone with someone. He hears her tell the unknown person, “Follow the tracker on my phone. Scent me out. Send up a smoke signal that I can follow to get home or I will send one up for you. Just please come get me. I really need you.” A small, angry, and very possessive part of Heath wonders if she is talking to Chad on the other end of that call. Coming up behind her as silently as he can, he snatches the phone from her hand and puts it to his ear. “You don't have to come get her. There was a misunderstanding but it will be sorted out momentarily. We are going to get off of here now and get her in the house and settled. I am sure that she will call you tonight. Bye.” And without waiting for the other person to talk and giving Heath their identity, he ends the call and drops her phone in his pocket. Turning to look down at her, he holds his hand out for her belongings. “No.” She glares up at him and he sighs deeply. Great. A child. Just what h

Kimmy looks at him and considers arguing but honestly, would it do her any good? She knew from the moment that she walked in the door that she would be staying here. It just feels right. Lifting her cell phone up to look at it, she realizes that she has three missed calls from her brother and seven text messages. She quickly reads all his messages and sends back a reply. She told him not to come get her now. She told him that she would call him that night to explain and that she loved him. His response was immediate when he said he loved her too and that if she needed him he would be there in ten minutes. Kimmy believed him too. She might not be quite as close to her brother as she was to Chad, but they were still brother and sister. They shared blood, identical features, and childhood trauma. That was something to keep you bonded forever. Turning to Heath, Kimmy is surprised to find him not where she left him. For her to have supernatural hearing, smell, and all the other sense

One week. It has been one week that she has lived in that tomb for all of her hopes and dreams. Her dreams of finding a loving mate, and having a beautiful, colorful life with a handful of children. Dead. They are dying on his rugless hardwood floors. Because one week has passed where nothing has changed. He still treats her like an indifferent stranger or as a nuisance, neither of which feels too wonderful. After his whole let's give it a chance before we make decisions speech, he did not try again to make an effort. He did not strive to make her feel welcome in his home. He tried as hard as he could to forget that she was there. That first day, Kimmy spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking her belongings and decorating the room. She had been so close with her assumptions of the décor except that the walls weren't neutral colors, it was the same reddish wood log as the rest of the house. The bed was not solid white, it was solid green, and the curtains at the window were gre

Kimmy has been laying in her bed for four hours, just staring up at the ceiling. She could not sleep a wink to save her life. She has tried closing her eyes and trying to force sleep. She has tried counting backward from two thousand. She turned on sleep music and the white noise on her phone, but neither worked. So she layed there memorizing the grain patterns on the wooden logs above her. A few minutes ago she heard Heath moving around in the loft above her room. The barely audible creaking of the floor only reached her ears because of her werewolf hearing. If not for the floor, she might not have known he was even up there. He skulks about like a panther, never making a sound. For such a big man, he is incredibly light footed and it freaks Kimmy out. It is unsettling how she never knows where he is because he moves so quietly. Kimmy figures that he is probably in the kitchen now, putting the coffee on and making breakfast. Today is Sunday, the only day that they don't have t

Kimmy nearly jumps out of her skin at the first touch of his hand on her body. The tingles that she usually feels at his touch is nothing compared to the fire that spreads beneath his hand on her bare thigh. Maybe it is the intent behind his touch, because does a man touch a woman's bare thigh for any reason other than because he wants to touch more of her? Or maybe the fire comes from her own imagination, because seeing him barely covered as gotten her hormones in a tizzy, leaving her all hot and bothered. Either way, the fire is there and his touch burns. When his large hand begins to pat her, it shift from sexual to platonic, which comfuses her. And she hates to feel confused.. like she does not know what is going on around her. The confusion goes into eclipse when she hears his words. The phrase 'and I think that we should talk..' echoes in her head as she turns her body to face him. Looking up into his eyes, she almost stops breathing. The sight of him in nothing but a tow

Heath sits back down on the bed near her legs and she sits up to face him. Kimmy, feeling chagrined by her uncharacteristically rude comment, feels the need to apologize to him. “I'm sorry for that remark I made. I shouldn't have said that.” “No, it's fine. You meant so you have every right to say it. You don't have to not say what's on your mind, just because I may not like it.” Heath tells her. She nods, but she still feels like shit because of it. “Let's see if we can actually have a conversation like two mature adults without fighting like idiots or trying to hurt each other,” Kimmy tells him, making him nod in agreement this time. “I just want to say that..” He trails off and she sighs. Goodness, whatever he is trying to say must be as hard to get out as a red wine stain on a white silk shirt because this is the fourth time in as many minutes that he has hesitated to say what he wanted to say. “Yes...?” Kimmy prompts him. “We need to make a decision about our mate bond.” H

Nope. He heard her right. We can have sex. She said it so dang casually that it infuriates Heath. Was that just her way of getting out of mating with him? She was willing to fuck him because thanks to the mate bond she found him attractive, but she wouldn't commit to him? As if there was something wrong with him. As if he was not good enough for her. It angered him at first because he felt rejected. He felt like she did not think that he was worthy of her. Yeah, he had been against mating with her at first too, but that is just because he thought that they were too different and there was no way it could work. Yet, living with her has not been quite as bad as he thought so he was willing to take the chance. Only now she does not want him. But as she looks at him, with eyes that were so hungry for him, his anger faded. She never actually said the words. That she would not let him mark her or her mark him. All she said was that they could have sex. Maybe she meant right this minu

Two weeks together. One week of fighting, animosity, and quiet hostility, where neither took the time to get to know one another, thinking that they were far too different for it to ever work. One week of wild sex, soft lovemaking and every hour spent together learning all the little things about one another. Getting to appreciate the things that they hated before. Like how Heath no longer sits in silence in the morning when they have coffee. He carries on a conversation with her. Or when the coffee gets drank in quiet it is because they are outside, watching the animals in the golden early morning light. He sits in the one chair out there and she curls up in his lap. That is when Kimmy came to love the quiet coffee time. How it used to annoy her that he feels the compulsive need to put everything back in its place when he is done using it, she now likes. It avoids clutter the house is always neat and she never has to look for anything because she knows where it is. As for the
