Chapter One hundred and two

The runes and symbols began to glow in a brighter light and he replied,“You are truly gifted and your prayers reached the Moon Goddess. She had cursed this forest and this place in particular and disappeared from her after a certain werewolf had irked her.She had cursed him to be tied to this place and wait for someone worthy who would please her with his sincerity and efforts and only then was she going to free him.”My brain began to theorize something but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions not before I knew everything. Thus, I simply looked at him, indicating him to go on, and he let out a sigh.He could see the twinkle in my eyes and the confusion so he began,“Many many years ago, there was a werewolf born on a blue moon that was confident, a good warrior, and a true alpha. He was not only someone who would care about his pack but also about the others. He was loved by anyone and everyone, making

Chapter One hundred and three

MadeleineThe blue balls of light had now ascended from the center of the tree stumps and were hovering above it.I could see two black dots for eyes on each of their tiny faces but apart from the excited chittering, for that was what it sounded like, I had no idea what was going on.“Onigfer, this was a curse befallen on you and your pack. So why did the Moon Goddess chose me to be the one to free you? I have not even heard of you or your pack earlier and neither do I recall of my parents telling me of it…”I trailed off, trying to put the puzzle pieces together. Upon hearing my voice and my doubt, which I realized might come off as a little bit rude, I quickly corrected myself,“....no offense”He seemed to take none or if he did, he did a good job of hiding it from me.“You are at the very center of this, my child.” HaydenI felt twigs and thorns poke in my back

Chapter One hundred and four

HaydenThe two guards who were stationed outside the entrance looked at me warily but let Jax pass without a moment of hesitation. On my left, I saw a little boy trying to perfect his aim by throwing a ball made of socks or something. He was trying to hit a pile of rocks kept around 15 feet from him and he was missing it every single time. His little face grew frustrated every time he missed it but he kept going. While I watched his attempts fail for the 5th time, his little face grew sorrowful. The other kids around him were staring at him with a mixture of doubt and worry. Though not a single one of them was mocking him. They all seemed to be waiting for him to achieve his goal and a few even started cheering him. This piqued my interest so while Jax was away talking to his Boss, I decided to watch the little one’s sixth or seventh attempt. The crowd of spectators around him started to cheer him though he was beginning to sob.

Chapter One hundred and five

Hayden“What?”It seemed like that was the only doubt that was coming out of my mouth ever since I had stepped here. She gave me a look as if to say I know you have doubts and I will answer them if I feel like it.“Look, Garcia…boss…I don’t mind killing your intended target if that is the same person or werewolf who dared touch my sister. Where is she? And where do I find this person?”Hope rose in my heart that after all everything had not been in vain and that I had come to the right place to seek more information about my sister.Garcia dusted her hands together and simply turned away, not caring to answer my doubts as I ran behind her.She walked a few steps and seemed to head towards an open field. I had thought that she would take me to her office where she was probably conducting her meeting while I had waited outside. But she seemed to ignore the meeting venue and headed in the direc

Chapter One hundred and six

Madeleine“You are at the very center of this, my child.”Onigfer said this and I couldn’t be more surprised. I threw him another confused look as he kept mum letting me try to piece everything he had told me so far together.Meanwhile, the little balls of light or his pack members were all pulsating wildly as if trying to say something.Onigfer smiled at them and then at the sky above and pointed to look at it.The moon was not its usual bright white in color but sky blue. It was a blue moon today.I looked at it in fascination. A blue moon occurred once in a century or probably two centuries. I don’t think anyone I know had ever seen one.My eyes were bewitched as I kept looking at it awestruck. The balls of light looked above with the same transfixed look before they began floating upwards a little as if praying to the Moon Goddess and thanking her for relieving them of their misery. All of the

Chapter One hundred and seven

MadeleineOnigfer nodded his head and the rune floated behind me and hovered over the tree stump. That way, it was easy for me to redraw it.The tree stump was hard and dry so it took me a lot of effort to use that small tip of the file and hold the nail cutter to etch anything. My hands began to grow slippery as I tried hard to draw and make them visible enough.Drawing straight lines was relatively easy but drawing swirls and curves was hard. My fingers were starting to hurt already and I worried about how I would draw it on the rest of the tree stumps just with the blunt tip of the file.Shaking my head, I cleared negative thoughts and tried to think of Hayden.I was doing this for him, to help him in finding his sister and maybe even stay with him….if he wants to.His smiling face flashed before my eyes and I smiled at the memory. He had always motivated me to keep trying so that was what I was going to do.

Chapter One hundred and seven

Madeleine They all seemed to look at me and their little eyes were filled with gratitude and sadness. I bit my lower lip to not let sadness affect me as then the balls looked at Onigfer who smiled at them ruefully. The balls hovered towards him and he met them halfway, embracing all of them in a bear hug as I saw the reunion with tears in my eyes that threatened to leak once again.Wiping my tears away quickly, I saw the balls of light turn around to look at me before they began to fade away.Their little bodies disintegrated into countless particles that drifted through the air and disparaged from my view. For a few minutes, none of us said a word. Onigfer simply kept looking at the direction in which the particles had disappeared and I kept looking at the ground, too ashamed to even meet his eye.Breaking the awkward silence, he turned to look at me, “It’s not your fault child, you helped and freed us, and it was

Chapter One hundred and nine

HaydenGarcia nodded her head, “Yes, it took me a while to get everything correct and not miss anything important but I believe this is an accurate representation.”Taking out a small bamboo stick, she held it in her hand and pointed to a square, “This is where we are currently standing. And, where you want to go is here.”She said as she dragged the stick all over the map, showing me the fortress where my sister was supposedly held. But what intrigued me were the symbols that had been drawn around the fortress. They were peculiar and something I had never seen before.“What are those?”I asked while pointing to the odd looking symbols. “Those are runes, some very specific runes to keep trespassers away.”My eyebrows furrowed at her words.“Runes?”She nodded her head, “Yes, what you are dealing with is not some typical rogue. Chapter One hundred and ten

MadeleineThe surrounding air seeped in a sense of tranquillity in me and I felt a stronger connection to the Moon Goddess in this Shrine. Though, I was wondering if I would see a statue of the Moon Goddess to pray to.I had always wondered what she would look like and how grand it would be to be in her presence. As werewolves, we prayed to the Moon goddess but I haven’t heard of anybody constructing a Shrine or a temple for her. This was the first one I was seeing and I was glad that I had played a small role in seeing it being formed. The blue moonlight that spilled into the inner sanctum saw the construction of a small column that appeared from under the marble floor as the tiles slid away to give room for the column to climb up.The column was a white marble that was decorated with delicate flowers and leaves of all possible colors.Upon it, something began to shimmer in the soft glow of the blue moon and I peered at it.I b

Chapter 111

MadeleineOnigfer asked me upon seeing me suddenly quiet down and stop sobbing.“I am not going to hurt you, Onigfer…not just because I am desperate to ascend…”I said with determination as I clenched my fists after seeing the dagger that was resting on his neck.“If anything, I will sacrifice my blood...”“No….”He shouted but before he could stop me, I had taken the dagger away from his neck and placed it on my palm instead.Placing the tip of the blade on my palm, I cut at it in one slash as red blood blossomed upon my palm trickling down my fingers. The dagger fell from my hand as my grip loosened over it as pain shot from the cut, traveling up my hand and my body all the way to my head.My hand was trembling as blood gushed out of the cut in rivulets but then I managed to limply hold the cut hand with the other one and held it above the flower. It took
